Five people did. You can still view the invasion ladder from the main website.

AFAIK, these predictions all came to pass, but GGG seems to be using a middle way of not breaking the game while gradually moving to the theoretically "correct" approach. FWIW, it seems Blizzard also came to this conclusion as they removed lifesteal% from the expansion.
With that said, I haven't played PoE in several months and I have no clue what's the current trend on the forums, but I'd be surprised if GGG reversed course on this.
The gradual move is what I dislike. I'd rather see a complete overhaul than them poking for balance with their current system that isn't even good.
Blizzard moved away from their old system because the best way to play was to get just enough mitigation to not get one shot and then you leeched enough health that as long as you were always attacking you wouldn't die. PoE isn't set up properly to adapt to this kind of gameplay like Diablo 3 did though. There is too much spike damage in the game currently to have consistent leech and lower damage output.

Just 5 linked my Lioneyes!!! 1st time ever 5 linking something lol. Took me about 400 jewelers to 6S, and around 200-250 fuse to 5L it. Then like 5 chromes to get my colors lol. Now, to not go and die to reflect with it.

On another note, crafting looks awesome. And I really miss races, but it's such a huge commitment if you want to perform decently :'(
The problem really wasn't even lifesteal/life regen. The problem was that they introduced three really dumb keystones in Vaal Pact, Ghost Reaver, and Zealot's Oath. Then they introduced those stupid gloves that really ruined shit for everyone else.
Lifesteal/Life Regen was in an okish place before the introduction of those Keystones/Items; once they got introduced it royally fucked up the balance.

the whole hideout thing sounds like something out of pokemon/skyrim and looks like a very nice opportunity to earn more mtx $$$. and master vendor seems like like yet another currency sink, i forsee it being not very used or just another "chancing" outlet for soultaker/kaom's etc.

Unfortunately i dont think there's a whole lot of us playing at the moment. The 1 month race is coming to end in a few days, and new leagues are in about 2 weeks or so, so i think people are mostly taking some time off right now.

Definitely feeling some more playtime on PoE soon. Had some good times playing this early last year.

Does GCP + Lvl20 = 20% undo corrupted effects?

Corrupted gems cannot be used for that recipe.

Does anyone know yet if you can still craft or vaal the items after they have been altered/bought by these new vendors?

Today's screenshot would suggest that you can, at least from the socket vendor. You aren't going to pay 150 fusings for a 5L only to not be able to alter the colors. I haven't seen anything that gives reason to think that these vendors have an effect like corrupting items.
edit: Two other things about the screenshot stand out to me, being 1) "six-linked sockets" may imply that you can go from 1 socket to 6L in one 1500 fuse step, and 2) those chrome prices seem a little high? Would make more sense on a 4S item for 3 off.

All the prices are intentionally worse than what it would take on average to do it yourself.

The fusing prices are slightly worse than what you would expect to spend on average linking by RNG (as stated by Chris), but the chroming prices seem far worse.

chroming 3-4 reds on say a dexterity based helmet can be a pain and take tons of chromes.
however note is "at least 3 sockets" so it might be possible that u can get >4 red with a single 285 chrome purchase. devious.

If you consider a static service fee then it doesn't seem as unfair. If the six sockets do have the same cost as the four sockets then it'll never be worthwhile to use it for six sockets though.

I wanted to craft 3 blue 1 red on dex shoes. I would rather chose to pay 400 chromes for that than trying it again by RNG.

Altough I'm not playing PoE right now, it always amazes me what GGG is doing with the game and how they act within their community. They should be an example to a lot of developers out there. May start again with the expansion!

PoE seems to be the game that people use as a model of how devs should act but so few people actually want to play it. No matter how great GGG are, their game is still very grindy, difficult, and frustrating on occasion.

might get back into the game with 5L / 6L being able to be purchased now
