I was going to pick Siren but now I'm reconsidering. I'd avoid the Siren, her ability doesn't get good until very late, it's extremely short and doesn't work on the guys you want it to till it's extremely upgraded. I'm done for the day, ended up getting quite far. Up to the mission with Mordecai and Bloodwing in the preserve that was shown off last week.

Playing coop with a friend is a pain until the official EU release. I really hope they'll understand for future games that you need to release triple A game worldwide without a 3 days delay.

I've yet to finish Skyrim, Kingdoms of Amalur and The Witcher 2 for these reasons. I eventually just get bogged down and exhausted of running these boring errands. Some of them end up being worth it but not all of them. If they cut the fluff and left the good ones I'd enjoy it much more.

1. Does sub-sequence reset the duration of phaselock when it bounces? 2. Does converge proc again after a sub-sequence bounce? 3. Does helios proc again after a sub-sequence bounce? Cheers

I like completing everything a game has to offer along the way because I hate not knowing if I missed out on something interesting. I think you're definitely in the minority on this one.

Otherwise, yeah, the other classes are probably more flexible.

I find that it detracts from the main story and is overall less enjoyable. I love the subtle "side quests" that you actually have to go out of your way to figure out. An example would be obtaining knights of the round in ff7, vincent, bahamut zero etc... I think the majority of the people I know who have played games like Skyrim and the like have not actually finished them. That said, I think Borderlands 2 has done them better and a lot of the dialogue is worth doing the quests for alone.

It's funny that you mention the side quests in FF7 (the special materia, Emerald and Ruby Weapon, the rare chocbos, level 99 on all heroes, etc). I thought those were so perfectly crafted as well. Don't get me wrong, I think you make a valid point. We're still not quite to the point where you can interact in truly "open" worlds where every sidequest takes you along some crazy journey or has stunning in-game impacts. We're getting there, but we're not there yet.
