Well, if you melee them it takes 3 hits... they're down in no time. (in both playthroughs and without any melee dmg bonus / skill) But if weapons do fine for you, no problem. My SMG, Assault rifle, Pistol and Rocket launcher did not much dmg (or not efficiently ammo wise). Not sure if i tried Sniper rifle, might work better. Although there are different types of all of them anyway, so i can't just say it like thatt :D It took my brother a single crit with his sniper rifle per leg (and he's running a melee zero). So it's as good as meleeing, maybe worse because sometimes you don't see the legs and that doesn't happen when meleeing. And meleeing them isn't dangerous at all too.

I've found that any of the big jakobs sniper rifles will 3sk them. I never bother with melee.
Jakobs guns have huge numbers and don't do elemental, so they ignore the crystalisks' normal blanket resistance.

They seem really passive to me, if you shoot at them they will fuck you up, but if you just run at them and start hitting they can't turn fast enough to fire their spikes at you because of the stun and drop really fast.
I love the designs for enemies they came up with in this game though, so many cool neat tricks you can do, like shooting threshers tentacles, shooting the chains off the midgets on the nomad torturers so they turn and distract them and you can flank the nomads, shooting bullymongs projectiles out of the air, goliaths metal helmets (did you know you can get a crit through the helmets with e-tech weapons!(at least with the sniper railguns)) evolving enemies and more.
Fucking love this game.

I don't even know if it's possible to osk the creature as a whole. Maybe with a bee or a huge rocket launcher.

Ive crit crystalisks so hard they die in one or two shots.
And yeah the enemies are well made overall its nice. The crit spot isnt always as simple as in-the-head.

Ugh, finally solved the crash to desktop problems I've been having with BL2 Not sure if I can post a link here but just thought this would help someone having random crashes (mods feel free to remove if deemed an unworthy source): Fixes for Borderlands 2 crashes.

It's supposed to be a joke, he's referencing the Jakobs motto from the first game. If it took more than one shot.... you weren't using a Jakobs.

also cluster grenades are hilarious against those guys

My current method is to spam Law on one leg, reload, spam Law on the other leg, then cloak (I'm playing as zero) and run up to melee the last leg. Once you get the timing down meleeing them is extremely easy. They get stunned a bit whenever you break a leg, giving you more than enough time to circle and hit another leg, it can be surprising just how far melee can reach for their legs. I just charge em and smack em. If they're already up they may hit me with some of their weak projectile shards, but usually only one, then they're stunlocked until death. Even blue is a pushover if you melee. Phaselock then melee each leg before it finishes, you can even pahselock from 10-20 metres away and still take it down before phaselock is over. I killed blue this way and just lol'ed Blue was ridiculous. Tons of much smaller enemies you can't phaselock, but one of the biggest things in the game can be picked up and made totally trivial?
He got his revenge, though. Bugged out and didn't fall down when he died, making the chest on his back inaccessible. I tried for about 45 minutes to climb up his bouncy damn legs before quitting and running through the level again (he didn't reappear and the chest simply stayed on the ground).

So I just found another bunker glitch. This one totally makes up for the bs that was the other one where it became unkillable, though this one is pretty bs as well. Spoilered for how game-breakingly easy it makes him. + Show Spoiler +If you are playing as Zer0 and spec into b0re, you can one shot all of his health. It seems to work best for me when I aim for the front corner just under the top turret placements. Also you should be relatively horizontal to him, so if you are in the lower area you need to wait for him to angle downwards at you and get close enough to be relatively level with him. The shot can keep the boring sound going for several seconds even after his health is gone if you are just right on the angle. You can destroy one of his turrets after to get him to move to his death spot quicker, then any shot will kill him there. First time this happened to me I had popped off a quick shot from my slag sniper at the start advancing up from lower area, then his health bar showed up and I was like wtf did he spawn with no health, then on testing further realized what happened. And of course, I'm using a Jakobs sniper for this now just for kicks.
I also finally found my second e-tech weapon in a chest in thousand cuts, but unfortunately it's just another splatgun. This time it's shock instead of corrosive and hyperion instead of tediore, so it's way less cool .

So that is what happened on my first kill. I had written it off as a bug after being initially really confused about how easy he was and then later how not dead in two shots he was on the my second fight against him...and this is confirmation that it is a bug, but with somewhat of an explanation of it.

is there a trading community for bl 2 similar to some of the traditional rpgs?
|
There really isn't a need for one. Just get whatever you want from boss farming. They die in a couple seconds or less with a shotgun and bee shield.

hm well. is there any long term motivation in this game then? i think its really interesting but i hesitate to buy a game like this for full price after the fiasco that was diablo 3

That unless you cheat it isn't like you are going to end up with a conference call and a bee very quickly barring crazy luck?
In terms of likely hours played it would be hard to go wrong with BL2 unless you are accustomed to getting multiple hundreds of hours per game. Not to say nobody would play BL2 that long, I'm sure plenty will given they managed to in BL1.

Well you got 4 classes tons of side missions and many different play styles you can go with, Also the single player itself is a good 30+ hours plus running with friends arena and all that other multiplayer stuff.

More than 99% of games in this day and age. Also has a lot of fun little things to find in the game.

If you hit the angle right the sound can go for a full ten seconds(if it's not exactly right it's much shorter but still works), so there's no doubt for me that that's what is causing it.
