You can also look up aim_botz on the workshop, it has been updated quite a bit and is pretty well made. It's different because bots only strafe and don't move totally randomly, but I like it too.

There doesn't seem to be a third party anti cheat, though everybody seemed legit (one guy was really good, and one other was getting pretty crazy prefires but nothing too fishy). We got matched with a dick that played like shit but spent his game criticizing my buddies. All in all better than MM I'd say, people that don't have ESEA should try it out!
I played in this season of CEVO-Free and I have to say, I was really really disappointed by their servers and I bet they use the same servers for pugs and season play. Like you said, sometimes people had some crazy var spikes that made the match unplayable and very inconsistent. Sure CEVO servers are 128 tick but from the little experience I had with them, I didn't really think it was better than MM. It was also hard to have access to a server with a good ping and we often had to play with 80+ ping but that might be a irrelevant to pugs, I don't know how it works, if they have more servers in the most popular locations, etc.
I should probably try it sometime tho. Hoping they made/are planning to make some improvements and forge myself a 2nd opinion. I didn't play a whole lot this season because of various issues so I was maybe just really unlucky with their servers.

I had a really decent ping from southern france to amsterdam, and the 128 tick still felt way better to me than 64 (spray kills are so much quicker), but yeah the var spikes kind of killed it. I thought it could be a one night thing as they seemed to be under DDOS (their site and client weren't loading or very slowly). Anyway, for a free pug service it's really decent, and we got to play against (self proclamed but seemed probable) SMFC guys which was a good experience.

I've lost like 5 competitive matches in a row
I don't understand how people have such consistently good aim in this game. It feels like I'm playing against pros and they're just GN1-3.

I think its my brain is always 5 frames behind the game which make me incredibly shit at shooters and fighter games. Though with that said, silver is quite enjoyable. You could run around with a shotgun/p90 all round and still get a decent score. I find that knowing the maps/corner where to peek where to check is the key which is why i still stick to the classic 1.6 maps instead of trying out the new ones.
But on a serious note, CS:GO run on my laptop at like 20fps max which make it quite hard to react to anything... sometime it dropped ~10fps T_T...

Oh god. I would be so happy if they would make 128 tick rate servers at Valve. PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

a lot of 3rd party servers have had lag issues recently, the BrutalCS dm servers that I like to warm-up in have had weird lag spikes for like 2 weeks now and the ESEA PUG's (I've played one ESEA MM game so far) have also had similar problems although to lesser extent
I think I read somewhere that a recent update broke the Linux servers in some way and that's why so many servers have been having these problems
On the other hand, the "Failed to create session" and similar problems in joining servers have completely disappeared for me for the last couple days. I used to get those all the time before that.

Nope, yesterday was one of the worst days for me when it comes to this particular problem :D Tried to join a friend's casual game to help him finish his mission, got the error 15x, and then we were unable to join the CEVO servers for a good 15mn because of it. So it's still not fixed, though at least they acknowledged it and said it would take time to fix.
