She's been smoking hot for several years man. She's a gem.
I agree Hawk,
I wouldn't have put Shannie or Mats in on their first go around either.

Crosby re-signs in Pittsburgh, 10 years - 102 million. AAV 8.7 mil. Didn't take a raise at all. Salary cap also up to 70.4
Gotta think Shero will be on the phone with Parise or Suter come hour 1 of free agency. With 14.5m of cap space to fill one forward and 2 d spots, could he even got both of them?
6 a year for Parise and Suter, then 2 a year for Niskanen to resign. Room for injury call ups. Could be even better if he moves Paul Martin, who people have supposedly been asking for.

McKenzie says Suter is their #1 target... which is nice I suppose but I've always been hoping for an all-star winger for Sid, full-time. No offense to Dupuis and his nice point streak but still, he's no Parise. Plus Malkin kinda has dibs on Kunitz and Neal now, rightfully so.
July 1 should be interesting to see for Suter, Parise and Schultz, but is there anyone really interesting after that?
|
I agree that Suter is the number one target and should be.After that playoff performance, D needs to be addressed. I also believe that it's very feasible for both of them to go there. If they can offer you about as much money as anyone else can AND you get to be a perennial contender, what's not to like?
If you're Parise, you come in and you don't have to be the face of the franchise, you kind of fall in line behind Malkin and Crosby, where you'll quietly destroy everyone playing Crosby's wing. If your Suter, you have the same kind of insurance that you'll play with a high quality defenseman, either Orpik or Letang, and be able to do your thing.
I think it's a good situation for both players, really, but I'm also obviously biased.
My understanding is Detroit is the next top bidder for Suter...where he's going to come in and clearly going to be expected to fill the shoes of Lidstrom. Not something I can imagine anyone wanting to try to do.
And really, no, I don't think so, EPO. After Suter, Parise, and Schultz, there's a massive drop off in interest. The next best forward on the market is probably PA Parenteau...that says a lot. There are a few interesting defenseman, though. Wideman and Garisson.
|
Wideman all signed up in Calgary. And I dunno about calling Garrison all that interesting.!

He can shoot. Someone will pay for that.
|
Parise is going to Minnesota. He bought a house there.
Also, Wideman is already a Flame.
|
Lol Feaster. Signing a worse version of Tom Gilbert at 5M+. And guaranteed he has a NMC in there too, just like every other player on Calgary.
|
Christ, 5+ for Wideman. Suter will command a fortune, if he wants it then.

There is absolutely zero chance that Parise or Suter get 6 a year. Wideman just got $5 per and he is half the player that Suter is.
And yeah that Wideman contract is 5/5 with a full nmc loooool. Feaster is fucking awful. Why the hell doesn't that team just rebuild? I actually think Wideman is ok as a 2nd/3rd pairing dude who you give soft minutes and pp time, but that contract price and length with the nmc makes no fucking sense for where that team is at. Go go, 9th place!
Also, Brodeur hired an agent for the first time in his career. That says a real lot about Jersey's ownership situation. But if they're in that dire of straights but still have the ability to retain some guys, it definitely has to be Parise over Brodeur.
As much as it would gut their d, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to move Volchenkov. He's great in his own end, but does nothing offensively. $6m is way too much for that, but a lot of teams on the cusp could use someone like him.
Also, PA Parenteau is gonna get like $4-5 by sheer virtue of being one of the only decent wingers out there and someone's gonna be real disappointed when they see that's a product of playing with Tavares
|
So the Oilers win the Schultz sweepstakes. Not sure if he's going to live up to the hype (as an Oilers fan, I'm always pessimistic), but I do like what it says about how free agents currently view this team moving forward. The optics have come a long way in the last 5 years.
|
Wideman is a very good offensive defenseman, but that contract is too much. I could see him getting 4.
|
Wow. 4.6 a year for Garisson in Van. 6 yrs.
|
Everyone is getting overpaid.
|
Red Wings continue their fine tradition of getting other teams castoffs but the reports are that Suter and Praise are both on their radar? What are the odds that either/both go there?

Welcome to July 1, its like this every year.
I laughed at Souray's deal to the Ducks. Ouch....
I dont mind Tootoo/Prust's deals, but aside from that I'm glad my team stayed away.

Well aware man. Lockout looming or not.
As much as I love Parise and Suter. Those guys aren't worth 100 million deals. It's odd because Zach has been one of my favorite centers for several years now, but to give them that kind of a payday? Shit.

Can't say I'm too happy with what's been going on thus far in the off season for my Senators. Foligno for Methot... I admit I don't know Methot (can someone who follows the West more closely help me out here?), and his stats are from a weak Columbus team, but it looks to me like we got the short end of that trade. I think Foligno was growing into a decent second liner (I personally believe he could hit 20 goals easy if he was on the second line all year), he had grit, worked hard, still fairly young, and was just fun to watch. Yes, it clears up room for more prospects, and hopefully Methot meshes well with the D this year... but right now I'm not a fan of this trade.
The Latendresse signing all I can really say is I hope last season was a bad one... we tend to have poor luck with injuries (LeClaire). If he just had some freak injuries last year and is a healthy top 6 forward for us, hooray! I just have a pessimistic feeling he wont get to play much... nothing to back it up, just a feeling.

lol
The Oilers and the Lightning are going to be fun to watch this upcoming season.

When I think about the Senators one of the first names that comes to mind is Nick Foligno. It's going to be weird seeing him in a CBJ jersey.
