Can't say there were many Oilers fans happier than I was when they picked him up. He's the best kid I've ever seen play in our little WHL city. But since you asked for something jaded, I better deliver. I've been having a hard time coming up with fresh ways to tell Flames fans to fuck the fuck off lately as they get on the "oh well, we can watch the other Alberta team for now" train. Fucking Flames fans. They've never seen a bandwagon they didn't like. Like lemmings. edit: And for what it's worth, with all of the talent that has come up in Edmonton over the last 25 years, we've never had a Calder winner. Kind of crazy when you think of it. It'd be a nice change of pace. edit 2: I can't wait for my team to start winning but at the same time it's almost like having a favorite band that has been making music you like for 10 years put out a hit single. My formative years as an Oilers fan are punctuated with names like Kevin Todd. Aka, The Todder. I resent pretty much everyone who has only been a fan for the last 5 years or so. The hopeless 90s is what turned fans into men. Haha. I'm happy they're doing well. The Oil are my favorite canadia team. I've got a soft spot for that little bunch of losers. Plus, theyve got sick young players and I want Renney to do well. The Nuge is the best nickname too, and I hope he wins the Calder.

Everybody who voted that SJ wouldn't win the Stanley Cup this year are haters (... or realists).

Not suprised given that Edmonton couldn't give the man away for basiclly free over 2 years. I expected nothing less then inspired play from Souray. Give it a year and he will be back to his old slow self again edit: Saw this on my facebook wall and loled. Felt like sharing + Show Spoiler + A Canucks fan, a Flames fan and an Oilers fan are climbing a mountain and arguing about who loves their team the most. The Canucks fan insists that he is the most loyal and he yells ”this is for Vancouver!”and jumps off the mountain. Not to be out done, the Oilers fan next professes his love for his team.? He screams, ”this is for Edmonton!!” and pushes the Flames fan off the mountain. Re-Post if you're an Oilers Fan

In 11 games, Smyth has 5 goals and 5 assists for 10 points... which is remarkable. This guy is rejuvenated to be back in edmonton and I love it. <3 Ryan Smyth. To think we grabbed him for Collin "I can't maintain a 4th line spot on the 30th place team" Fraser. Also, the Oilers dominated the Blues tonight. The shots were close but the chances were not at all... The Blues got nothing on the inside, and Halak made a good 5 or 6 grade A quality saves that 99 times out of ten are in the back of the net. It is so weird to be feeling so good and positive about the Oilers, it has been a long time since me having pride in the Oilers was something that made my day to day life a real happy one. Hall, Eberle, and RNH just make the hair of everyone in the arena stand up because you know that they are not only going to play solid in their own zone, but also generate a great chance on net every single shift. I keep waiting for this teams excellent play to die down, but it just isn't happening. I feel like all this smoke being blown about a rebuild actually has fire somewhere. Funny thing is that our best two players are out of the line up...

I'm so super happy I get to type this and its acctually true! Alse Hemsky is not one of our best players. I don't think Ryan Whitney is even our best defenceman. Speaking of those glass cannons, Hemsky was on the ice in practice and will be traveling with the team for the up-coming long road trip. Whitney has also been skating, though I don't know if hes coming on the trip or not.

Also, much like how in the NFL thread the Packers are only to be refered to as The Defending Champs, RNH can only be refered to as The Nuge. It is only appropriate. I'm sure flaccid gets similar hair standing straight up feelings when he sees him play, but that's because he's gay as hell for him. Totally understandable though. He's dreamy.

HOCKEY! Joe Thornton said a thing last night after losing. John Tortarella said a meaner thing http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Tortorella-8216-Joe-Thornton-hasn-8217-t-won?urn=nhl-wp16396
