You can tell the Coyotes really did some video work on The Oilers system, they had our breakouts down before we did them, the had our cycle and what we were going to do system-wise almost as rapidly as we did. The Yotes did a good job taking away time and space and really leaning on us tonight, koodos to them. I mean, you can't win 78 games in a row, so I saw it coming. I am happy with what I saw tonight overall... we managed to really open it up and show some 5 man offense in the third which is a good sign, because teams need to be able to win multiple ways. We can't rely on stellar defence and goaltending all the time. We showed some good pushback today, so I suppose I can't complain. We got back in the game against a team that doesn't let teams back in the game, and that is a plus. This team learned some lessons tonight, got a real example that you need to play your game to win. We need the puck on our stick. I think the Oilers need to shake up their third line, it isn't generating any chances. With Hemsky coming back against Montreal/Boston, I think you have to put Hemsky with Paajarvi and Gagner to get them going. I dunno what you do with Belanger, he has been great for the Oilers but he is kind of Offensive Kryptonite. We can't have Paajarvi lose his confidence and sputter out... Gagner can't play the wing because he has slow footspeed, he is a guy that is good at reading plays and carrying the puck, not so much beating people wide and starting cycles.

Oilers GM has some intresting decisions to make. The hearing between the Edmonton Oilers and LA Kings over wether or not the Oilers lied to the Kings about Colin Frasers leg injury in the Ryan Smyth trade is coming up. LA is expecting a 1st round draft pick as compinsation. Edmonton is expecting alot of time to be wasted showing they were forth-coming with the info. Will be intresting to see what the outcome is.

I think it should be policy that after the score has reached 5-0 that they change the channel p.s. iCanada I'm glad you weren't posting when the Oilers lost the SC to the Hurricanes because reading your posts would be like travelling through a slum on Christmas + Show Spoiler + I'd be sad

A single hit killed an Edmonton Stanley Cup IMO. Rolli the Goalie was unbeatable that year. Then Conklin...ARG nuff said Anyways Ales Hemsky is back in and on Smyth/Horcoff line. Paarjvi is a healthy scratch. Guess that puts Jones back on 3rd line.

Feels good to say after 15 games the Oilers havn't lost two straight games yet this year. Beauty.

I was just saying that you're such a huge Oilers fan that I would hate to see the Oilers lose a SC they should have won and then read your posts afterwards because I would feel sad too.

Yeah, and you guys even pushed them to a game 7 as well coming down from what again? 3-1 or 3-2? I was really disappointed for Edmonton because Carolina had injured at least one player from each opponent they faced in every round with their dirty play and then got rewarded with a cup afterwards Hopefully the Oilers, Leafs or Jets can take it this year Maybe Calgary too

The 1-3-1 is an effective way of clogging up the neutral zone and slowing the pace of the game, but it is hardly impenetrable. In fact there are several ways to get through a 1-3-1 defensive setup effectively. All you really need is good puck possession, actually... and you can get through in any number of ways. Hell, it isn't even like the Bolts employ a good 1-3-1. They are always a touch tentative and they lack consistent speed throughout the lineup to cash in on counter attacks. Not only that but they have mediocre goaltending and panic once they hit their own zone. Despite how hard they trap they have the 5th highest goals against average in the league, and their best two defensman are injured. We aren't talking about an impenetrable defensive stalwart here, we are talking about a defensively lacking team play a system to correct it. That is actually one of the reasons why I like the smaller rinks; makes the game faster because the dump and chase is always a viable tactic. In a euro rink you can't dump and chase and therefor are forced to skate through such a trap. Turns the game into a soccer match... boooring. Also makes it look easier to take the puck to the outside on offense leading to less quality scoring chances in prime positions, and more shots from weak far angles. Imo, I think the second/third times the refs blew down the play they should have given out some delay of game penalties. That isn't Hockey is embarrassing.
