So any of my Aussie/Pommy/Paki/Indian homies keeping track of the Ashes series b/w Aus and Eng?
England have dominated Australia for the last couple tests now, but I think we (Aus) are a chance if some luck goes our way. The Poms are at about 5/1xx now, so if we bowl them out then have ample time under the lights we may just snatch it.
Opinions?

can some one explain the rules a bit. they looked pretty even to my eyes but the commentators says the english are ahead. either way, i hope english will win it. Australia has being dominating for god knows how long.

ok whats happening is its like the 4th-5th day and england is only haklfway through their second innings and australia hasnt even begun theirs. Australia needs a win so its 2-2 so they get the trophy because they won last time. All England needs is a draw so they take it 2-1. Since the last match is coming to an end, all England has to do is defend, so yea, they are ahead. The aussies are bowling quite well though so itll be close. its just a matter of time
edit: its the 5th and last day
by the way the australian cricketers received death threats from some rnadom englishman

Shane Warne is a legend, England are clutching at a false sense of victory, and the weather will ruin what could have been a pragmatic victory for australia.

Superb ashes series I think we can all agree!
Ok many Aussies are peeved that England took the bad light last night?? This is a joke. Aussies have already shortened the game by a good 3 hours in the last two days by taking bad light, I dont think theres any doubt Aus woulda done the same thing as England last night!
Game is over now but theres a bunch of whatifs had Pietersons three possible catches been held!! Shame on you warney!!!

Personally was hoping England declared on 220 or so or at least when Pieterson was out (although realistically there was no chance of this) it woulda made a fabulous end to the match instead of what is happening right now..

Another phenomenal series. Australia played great especially Ponting; which just makes the victory even better. I think in the end England's bowling attack was just a bit better and that's what won it. Thoughts anyone?

wtf that has nothing to do with anything.

On the balance of things Australia deserved to win the ashes. They were the better side overall, I mean England only had two people who made over 100 in all five tests.
Also the pitch at theoval was doctered to give a result.

they gotta win sometimes.
Rain delays, playing for the draw, dodgy pitch... they all lined up pretty nicely.
|
I wouldn't even mind England winning once in a while if I could watch it without fucking rain delays forcing a draw or stalling play -.-

That just shows how little you understand test cricket. 4 of your 100s came at Cardiff... which you then drew pathetically. If you hadn't of taken 181 overs to get to a target you might have won. Sometimes you just have to attack the ball and get runs fast. You think Swann was thinking of a century at The Oval when he smashed 63 off 55 balls? No, he was thinking about winning.
Try not to cry too much boys.

Before the 5th I thought Aus was definitely the better team, but they really smacked us in the decider so guess we'll have to wait until the home round.

It's quite funny watching the two cricket teams I dislike the most going up against each other. The aussies have way too many completely unlikeable characters (less now than in the past though) for anyone except aussies to like them, while the British are just so painfully mediocre 99% of the time when it comes to cricket, and then have the most partisan commentators ever, that I can't like them either.
Also, why are the English unable to develop their own talent? Literally, the only players in your team remotely interesting are those from South Africa. Strauss, Pietersen, and now Trott. If there's one good thing I can say about the recent English cricket side it's that Graham Swann is a really decent spinner. To me, he seems much more dangerous than Panesar ever did. Also, Broad is shaping up to be a decent test all-rounder.
When it comes to Australia, I can stand the new (compared to pre-2000) guys like the Husseys, Stuart Clark, and even Watson and Johnson. I just can't stand Ponting and his generation of players, and there are some of the new players that are way too similar to him (for example Michael Clarke and Haddin). Hopefully the Aussie team will become more bareable once Ponting gets the inevitable sack as captain.
Congrats to England for winning another Ashes. Now by the time the next Ashes start, your commentators can say that you haven't lost the Ashes in 15 years!
