Team Liquid now has its very own DayZ Server!!!!! Come join us on USA 1337! This Server is temporarily down, but will be back up soon, in the mean time you can use Tofucakes server which all TLers are Welcome to use, US 382
A important message from TSBspartacus:
OK guys the teamspeak city channels are set up. Move there when general chat is busy or whenever you want. If its empty, no need to go there since no-one else is in. It is Common courtesy to announce you are moving there so people in the chat know that city is now a danger-zone. Anyone not in the city group but in the city, be prepared to be shot on sight by TL members that are in the group. As far as defining the boundaries, just the general area; so for Cherno anywhere between Balota and Prigorodski (including Prig though since its basically part of Cherno) and all the surrounding hills. As a general rule, if you can see any part of the city, get in the chat.
What it means: New channels have been created on the Dayz TS server for the benefit of people in specific cities, if you are in a major city (elektro/cherno) but fail to let people in the channel know you are there, you are running a very serious risk, and may be shot on sight. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello and welcome to the Teamliquid Dayz players list! The purpose of this thread is to help TL'ers find other TL members who can help them survive in the barren, zombie infested wasteland known as Chernarus! I know that with just a bit of coordination we can all have a blast in this Eastern European hellhole we love so much can't seem to find an exit to.
for those who dont know what Dayz is, it is a mod for ArmA II that introduces players into an enormous zombie wasteland while requiring them to scavenge for food, water, and a myriad of other valuable supplies across a massive area, all while managing a host of environmental dangers including zombies, hunger, thirst, illness, and potentially even other players looking to kill you for your supplies. Will you become a friendly scavenger helping those in need that you comes across? Or a ruthless bandit murdering and stealing from everyone you see to survive? In Dayz, roleplaying and gameplay are seamlessly intertwined, your interactions with other players will directly determine your success in the game. So working together is a good idea.
If you would like to know more about this fascinating new mod, then you should take a look at this thread: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=338034 In there you can find links to installation instructions, deals on amazon to get ArmA II at half price (expired), fascinating stories from survivors, as well as tips for new players, go ahead and give it a read if you haven't already (Its still growing!).
Now on to business, I have heard word that Mango will be setting up a teamspeak channel specifically for Dayz! (Until then TBSpartacus has set up a User channel open to everyone, so if you want to play go hop on!) This will make it much easier for people to locate each other and play together. To further facilitate that, I thought it would be a good idea to keep a list of TLers who are interested in teaming up with each other to play. This should make it easier to stay in touch with other players.
So in this thread im going to try and keep an organized list of TL'ers who want to work together and their contact info. If you want to have your name on the list, simply post in this thread the following bits of information and il edit you into it 1) your In game (ArmA II) handle 2) your steam contact info or preferred form of contact (note: if for any reason you dont want to give this info then its no problem, il still add you and leave your TL account as the main contact) And that's it! Now lets hit the field and find some baked beans!
We officially have our own teamspeak channel on the Teamliquid server! You can find it under the community tab of the teamliquid server, anytime your playing DayZ and want some company, feel free to hop on! Big thanks to TBSpartacus for organizing it, and TheMango for making it
TL DayZ server Some badass TLers pitched in and bought a DayZ server! USA 1337 is now our server of choice! (if any of the people who helped purchase the server would like to pm me who they are so I can give you credit I would greatly appreciate it!)
So, now that we have found a bunch of people who want to play together, the next step is to organize the games! TBSpartacus went ahead and made a steam group for us, so go ahead and join it if you have steam, if you dont have steam dont worry, you will not be excluded from anything. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/TL-DayZ
I'm still downloading the game, 4gb left. Unfortunately I don't have a mic yet, I'll buy one tomorrow or the day after though. I'll make sure to leave my contact info once the game is installed.
Sup guys, going to be playing for a bit now, and have remade the temporary room on the TL server.
I think we should make some basic rules for this, seeing as its not a very noob friendly mod.
ARMA II is a gentlemans game. The controls are clunky and hard to learn, but offer a lot in return.
1. No killing of TL members Yes the mod is designed for this, but meeting up together with other teamliquid members is better than randomly meeting others in game: they could kill you at any point. If the trust between us gets broken we'll be no better than the other players out there going solo.
2. Don't shoot at zombies unless you're alone. I know this sounds silly, but once you get to know the game you'll realise that the zombies are not the main element at all. Other players are. Shooting at zombies will lead them to you, and all surrounding zombies and players. Don't shoot unless you know you're safe to take a shot, or directly under threat from one. Its generally best to run if you are discovered. try to take the quickest way out of town / wherever you are so you can shoot the lone zombie thats following you away from other zombies. However, if you are being chased by more than one its usually best to get inside and defend that position, Zombies can't run indoors.
3. Work as a team: logical. Follow orders from your leader, if not please don't interfere with the operation going on
4. Don't steal loot. Yes no-one can have dibs on loot, but be reasonable. If a guy has a pistol and you have an uzi and pistol, don't refuse to let him have it. After all, we want to be playing this as a team.
OFC all these rules don't apply when playing solo or can be based on decisions of the group you are playing with. If you want to go gung-ho into a town and kill all the zombies feel free, but don't do it without asking the dudes you're with if they are ok with it.

Also, currently there are a lot of issues with the mod being too popular and servers are constantly under too much load. Be patient, and eventually it should work. You may need to wait for up to 5 minutes just to load a game on a server, but trust me, its worth it.
I'm planning on joining up as soon as this crappy Amazon download finishes and I get the mod running. Count me in.
EDIT: Also, this might be a stupid question, but non-Steam versions of ARMA II can connect with Steam versions, right? I don't want to be the only guy on TL who doesn't use Steam and can't hang out with anyone.
Hey guys, we just had a long about 7 hour session with 3 of us, me jtype and rob (can't remember tl name). We managed to navigate our way to meet each other in the night across the map, avoid enemy contact and zombies numerous times and gather some pretty sweet loot, as well as cooking some lovely sheep up. Collectively got through two broken bones, 2 bleeds and some serious loss of blood. If everyone gets in the teamspeak server whenever they want to play and ask for locations of people we can meet up pretty easily whenever anyone is on, just hang out in there if you're on.
I for one am perfectly willing to help out any new players or meet up with you guys when we're on, and hopefully we can stick together. Don't be put off by how hard this game is, its so much fun with a team.
Our current location is north of Pavlovo, but the general target at the moment is zelenogorsk. As long as we gradually stick around the same area we'll find it pretty easy to play together along with teamspeak. I don't think Steam is even necessary, but I have made a Steam group for us here: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/TL-DayZ
Would be great if people also added on which server they usually play. Steam ID : Cynry ARMA Handle : Philippe Server : Mostly FR and others EU
Also, with time and TL players adding up, we might want to settle on some server to start fixing some vehicle, store in tents and stuff like that. For now, little squads are fine but I think TL can grow very big on this game :D
I bought the amazon copy, so it doesn't connect with steam. But you can contact me through steam. Steam ID: mcgriddle ARMA handle: mcg server: Mostly dallas/chicago servers, and virginia servers at night (the utc+4 ones).
I am currently at NW airfield. I'm hoping that when you are proposing no teamkilling you mean only other TLers? Because I quite enjoy the thrill of looting dangerous locations (electro especially), and killing other players kind of goes hand in hand with that.
yes sorry to confuse people, I meant no teamkilling as in our own guys. Shooting others is recommended :p
Also yeah a base camp sounds awesome, we need to pick 2 servers, one America and one EU. Just so people can switch between them if they need to. However there is one problem with base camps. They can be raided while we're offline, and there is no way to stop this due to the nature of the game. We'd have to pick a damn good hiding spot. Also they only work on one server, but if we can find one that is regularly decent then we can try to fit in that one.
So I think its probably best if we have two "Go To" servers that people can just favorite so we can better manage meeting up in game. So when people log on they can just hop on the server and the ts3 channel and be good to go. I imagine we will want each of them on opposite timezones so we can choose to play in the day or night.
Does anyone have any suggestions for what servers to use or a better way we could organize this?
Yea that sounds good to me. I haven't been on any FR servers yet, myself. I tend to bounce between Virginia, UK and RU, depending on what time of day I want to play at (I'm finding more and more that there some very unique advantages to playing at night time).
On May 23 2012 19:25 icystorage wrote: guys, make a base camp and start a community and shit like a small town or something and implement politicis and law enforcement and shit like that :D
Sounds awesome, can totally re-enact something like Highschool of the Dead.
Speaking of base camps, just came across a heavily fortified military installation south of vybor with lots of barbed wire and sandbags around. Two tents full of loot, and no zombies either. After looting both tents for all I could carry I made my way through one of the buildings next to them, curious as to whether there was another stash somewhere nearby. As I crept my way into the building I spotted a bandit with a sniper rifle lying down watching out of the other door. POW! Slug to his head. Extremely cautious now I checked the rooms one by one, and sure enough there was a guy sat in a room with a shotgun watching the door. unfortunately for him I shot first and didn't stop till I was sure he was dead. Lotsa nice loot for me! Went to loot the bandit at the other door and the server crashed
I guess one of them was the host and rage-quit so that he didn't lose his loot. Still, felt good ruining days of hard work and survival for two people and profiting from their deaths.
Maybe I'm a bit too into this kill or be killed thing. But as a general rule I only trust people from here.
On the bright side, no bandit skin yet. I think its bugged. Means people will think before shooting me, which gives me plenty of time to "think" them in the head.
Oh and my current location is Vybor near the north west airfield if people want to meet up at all. I should be on tonight around 8PM GMT, hoping to find some NVG's so I can start hunting at night too.
On May 24 2012 22:17 icystorage wrote: make a base camp! D:< and trade with each other, set up an economy and a make shift government
i will personally run around collecting zombies to run into our enemies compound. This distraction will allow you guys to flank them and take all their loot while they deal with the hordes of zombies. lol or u guys could be boring and make a government ^^
ok I just woke up im gonna pick the "Go To" servers to edit into the OP today. unless anyone else has any suggestions im just gonna make them a dallas and a french server like Spartacus suggested. If anyone has any other ideas now is the time to speak up.
Are you having an authentication issue Disregard? If so I had a similar problem but I found a way to work around it. If that is the issue then let me know and I may be able to help you ^_^
i had a somewhat similar issue where I would get the same error message. I was able to access the server anyway by putting teamliquid.typefrag.com:13870 into the Server Address in the connect menu of the ts3 client, and just hitting connect. Maybe that would work for you? Good luck, hope it gets worked out
On May 25 2012 00:07 Disregard wrote: Ohh right... Should've just done that, thanks. But its just a quick fix, still need to authenticate my account with a new privilege key.
Yea mine isn't authenticated either. Just can't seem to get the privilege keys to work. Connecting to the server manually works for me though.
Just played on Chicago 2 for a long time since it was the only one we managed to get into that was daylight. Server seems great, gets reset every 6 hours so nice and stable. I think based on when people play its going to be hard to pick a server but I'd say for now until everyone is quite experienced just base it on what servers are available and what times. I'm good to play on any server tbh, no matter location.
Just played my first game. Only played a few min of training in regular ARMA, don't know what's going on. It's cool though. It was dark, hardly saw anything and died. lol.
fuuuuuck This looks really fun; but I don't want to spend 20 dollars >_> Are you guys on all the time, would it be worth it to spend 20? EDIT: wait, looks like in need Arma 2: Combined Operations--which is like 30 T_T

Yes it is worth it. It is very fun if you have a group or if you solo.
I think ARMA X is on sale on steam still, which is all the arma stuff including combined ops, for less than the price of combined ops. UK steam anyway.

I looked this morning and it was £25 for arma CO, not paying that for a mod
What version should I download the test release for the current 1.6 version. I really like the sound of this mod, and I've been playing ArmA 1 and 2 for ages now.
I just registered on TeamLiquid because I am looking for folks to play with that I can trust. Hopefully, I can build trust that you guys have in me! Don't know if registering actually makes me a part of TeamLiquid yet, but here is the info anyway.

Server: Mostly Seattle servers, but anything that I'll join anything that I can get decent ping on.
Edit: I have joined the TL Steam users group too. Thanks!

I too am looking for people to play this crazy game with. None of my friends want to buy it at the moment so I look to you, the tl community for support.
I bought Arma2 just for this game. It is totally awesome! The best thing about it is the crazy relationship you have with the other players. I was just looting a school in elektro and I saw a guy 5 feet away from me through a little window. He was aiming his gun at me so I emptied my clip in to him. He shot me so I went to my inventory to bandage, then I saw a flash of another guy. He was creeping along the floor, so I got to where I could see the very top of his head over the window and stood up and shot him in the head. They had tons of nice gear. Things I had never found before. Like a watch, matches, and a winchester rifle. I was looting their bodies in between fighting off zombies. After like 10 minutes I had little blood left so I gave up on taking things from the bodies and was trying to make it out alive, but too many zombies heard me. They had lots of blood packs, but I couldn't figure out how to use them in time and eventually had too little blood and was knocked over and died. The experience of this game is so unique. I love Fallout and books about a collapse of the big systems in our world, especially Octavia Butler books about it. This mod is totally worth the $30 if you like the idea of the mod and want the very high level of realism. The biggest reason I got it was to see the 72square miles of towns, cities, factories, and woods.
I'm having serious troubles trying to learn how to play this game. Spawn, can't find weapons, die to zombies. Hopefully, playing with TLers will cure that problem!
New player looking to find more people to play with since I cant handle playing this game all alone I have another friends that is also hooked into it and trying to convince 2 more so in a week's time we will probably be 4.
I just thought it might be a good idea, since some people outside of TL might join the server too, to establish some sort of pass-word to identify ourselves and state we are friendly amongst us. We all know how harsh the DayZ world can be, and as TSBspartacus said:
1. No killing of TL members Yes the mod is designed for this, but meeting up together with other teamliquid members is better than randomly meeting others in game: they could kill you at any point. If the trust between us gets broken we'll be no better than the other players out there going solo.
.
In style of military passwords, we might pose a challenge word and an answer, such as -"TLO!" -"Epic beard!" So we can recognize each-other (it's pretty hard to remember all the TL folks names on the list).
Unfortunately, from what I have heard the development team will not allow passwords. If they detect a server is using a password they will blacklist it from the database. (at least thats what I heard)
Oh! nvm I get what you mean lol, i thought you meant a server password. Good idea!
Also, you should write more blogs , they are really good.

Best thing would be that you join the Teamspeak server and just ask "is anyone here at NW airfield" If no response, blast his ass.

... There's that, too xD But bear in mind most of the TL folks don't join TS and chat via the VON built in-game, should I pop a cap on the poor S.O.B. just because he wasn't in TS? I'd rather ask and be super-manner than fucking up and killing one of our guys
On June 26 2012 06:22 TSBspartacus wrote: We're almost always in TS, and if not they don't really play on the server we're on
I stand corrected then. It there's no answer on TS, then we waste whoever's in front.
Exactly, thats what we do. One time i asked in TS if someone was at Balota airfield, no one answered so i killed him then when i stated the loot on ts someone said "What the fuck, you killed me" he then said that he didn't know the name of the place.
I heard and watched quite a bit about this game and it looks awesome, but I just can't get it started. Ive googled around and no help at all really. I've nearly tried everything. uninstalling the launcher, re installing. Un installing arma re installing. And no luck. Any tips from anybody ---_______---

I did the steam client version of dling. Only very few servers would work and those that would would be buggy, like I couldnt use my inventory items. You need the beta patch get it here then copy the ArmA2OA.exe that it creates over the one steam game you. then modify your steam launch options to include the beta patch. mine is -mod=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion;@DayZ -nosplash There are lots of places with instructions out there. Also the patch includes instal instructions, but they are confusing.

Hey guys, I just downloaded Dayz and am trying to join the server but it has a red X next to the server name, and the version number is 1.6.2 and says I have 1.6. However when I click on other servers, it shows I have 1.6.2. I have no idea what to do
Edit: I think I got all of the technical stuff nailed down, now time to learn how to play
Adding this here incase anyone misses it in the other thread.
Pease no one is against new players. Most like to help out when we can. Gave Ural to same earlier today I'm sure he is enjoying it.
When you are in Hot spots like Cherno/Elektro/Stary/NWAF we don't need a play by play of everything you are doing. If you walk into the grocery store and there is a Alice Pack just pick it up. I know people play how they like and thats cool. It creates alot of unnecessary chatter when people are trying to call out targets and players to avoid accidental shootng and sometimes prevents necessary shooting due to confusion.
I understand if you are new and excited I was once there too and legit questions regarding the game most are more than willing to help. If you know people are in a hostile area it makes it less frustrating if your not telling us you found a MP5 SD. Just take the gun your gonna die eventually we all do so its not that big of a deal. If you have questions about how good it is damage or stats just make sure you ask not when people are trying to find the Player at firehouse or whatever. take, kill, and enjoy!
There is no need to try to impress anyone on TL/TS just play and have fun. If you where in cherno and died and got a elektro spawn switch to elektro channel what happens is person got was in Cherno giving a narration of their activities they get shot die get respawn at Elektro and start narrating again.
Just try to keep narration down if you can help it please. Thanks
Hey just starting to play on TL server. Played on server a few days ago and got killed by two guys farming at Berezino while passing by. Was trying to be friendly by not shooting but that didnt work so I figure I put my name on this list. TL name boag11 DayZ is KTy
I am currently in need of a friend, i am in a server close to the airfield. i have lost a lot of blood and have plenty of blood bags just no one to transfuse the blood. Can any one help? it's a US server.

I've been alive for quite some time now, around 50ish days. Not all of them active though.
I have really decent gear, am experienced, just need a team of guys to run around with now and look for vehicles and what not.
Let me know if interested.
No, you let us know. Seriously, you want to play with anyone just come on teamspeak, we're all one big team that just plays together separately essentially. Just ask who's nearby your location etc, there's noobs and elites on all the time who need help/want to do something fucking hilarious
Hey, your server just konked out, kicked everyone, we had a group of 4-5 in cherno's firestation, and news on the status of the server? It was kicking everyone for battleye script restriction #87.
Also my name and steam name are Pandm101, sometimes my in game name varies, but it always has pandm in it.

I play with Sundance Kid (In Game), who is Plenti, here (doesn't post), primiarly on US 2123
No problem man I killed you after when you came back fresh spawn, I could tell it was you lol. I got all my stuff back anyway so its all cool. Sundance kid hid behind that tree for ages before I got him, then you arrived right behind me lol, I didn't really have a chance.
