I mean the time I reloaded was bullshit, a guy got crit in heavy cover by a muton which caused one guy to panic and shoot at him blowing up the car where a 3rd of my guys was AND it caused my sniper to panic and kill the 2nd guy with a crit to the back of the skull. So yeah, 3 for 1 thanks to panic >< My team is currently Maj. Support, 2x Col. Assaults, 1x Maj. Assault, 1x Col.. Heavy, 1x Col. Sniper. I have a few Lt.'s in reserve but that's the main group. I have Lasers for all of them and a split of 4-2 Carapace/Skeleton Suit armor with Titan researching, I just need an actual UFO mission to go right ><

They will freeze on place and do nothing as long as everybody is on cover. People use this also to game the game, i only do it for setting up captures. My weird logic dictates it's the only time it's not considered by myself as an exploit :p You can also switch assault weapons to pistols, so they don't instagib the outsider so they just make it easier to capture (the less remaining HP the alien has, the easier to capture).

My main problem is that I overwatch before opening UFO doors just in case there's a Berzerker or something on the other side and the Outsider always moves when you see him, thus triggering overwatch and...yeah. I don't wanna have to save scum to actually cap the damn thing, but I'm considering it.

In the above post i edited before i read your post, about switching your assaults to pistols before triggering him, so they don't instagib the poor thing.

With the second wave mod you can enable various options and one of them is randomized funding from council members. However I´ve never seen a single country give that much: Almost perfect score on impossible ironman. The one civilian death was caused by a rocket I fired. Just one of the stupid bugs where soldiers share a tile. I´ve seen aliens do this as well.

So I finally got a good enough start on Impossible Ironman and got an actual game going (for some reason I have problems clearing the first mission lol). First abduction mission is on the construction yard map that has like no full cover near the start location - Got facerolled The first UFO was pretty easy and got some rank ups that would hopefully lead into a pretty decent game First council mission - Bomb disposal... You can expect to need to restart the whole game at least a couple times on Classic Ironman (at least that's what happened to me lol). GG Apart from the Anna Sing escort, I find bomb disposal to be the easiest one, except on the fucking graveyard map. *moves up to nearest large cover* *Alien Activity* *5 mutons, 2 floaters, and a berserker appear within 5 squares of me* G fucking G. Happened twice too.

I have had situations (both in I/I and C/I) where the dropping Thin Men literally checkmate me immediately. I'm pretty bad at out-chessing the AI for some reason so it might be because of that too. I have to say though. It's hilarious when a bunch of aliens pop up from a fricken rock I surround with vision. Suddenly 5 aliens in the middle of my group while I try to figure out how to out-chess the other aliens. Hidden alien bases in random rocks (or trees, that's another common one) ftw.

It was pain to see him die, and even more pain to realize afterwards that I could have moved another soldier first to make thin man to use hes reaction shot to him and run away with the sniper. Also, base with 3 steam vents, 2 in 2nd floor 1 in 3rd, 2 of them next to elevator.

If you cant kill them all in your turn you will lose at least 1 soldier. Eh, I usually have enough power nodes to spare that I can clear the map, hit the nodes, put my guys in overwatch, THEN defuse. It rarely is an issue, though I did have one bomb mission where I lost 2 to the Thin men afterwards (on, you guessed it, the graveyard map because I lost my sniper early to mutons and my rookie to the berserker that spawned on top of her). Had last man standing hero shot one of them from 30%, was glorious.

The game is ludicrously easy once you get Plasma Weapons and Ghost Armor, both of which I had around the time I assaulted the alien base due to just NOT capturing the Outsider in any reasonable timeframe. So, now I have to decide: Classic Ironman or Insanity normal?
