After a lot of failed first missions (i try to keep everyone alive in the first mission) I finally got to my first Abduction mission. I played very careful, first group I used my Heavys rocket to kill 2 Sectoids, the third one is far far away in the fog, suddenly 8 Sectoid spawn RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! yup, all of these sectoids(except 1) spawned right there and immediately attacked me, i had no chance :< god I love this game ;D does this still happen in Enemy Within?

It also happens in the mod for Enemy Within called Long War. Long War is basically a new expansion with sooooo many changes and soooooo many new things and best part is that its free. Anyone here will recommend Long War because its an amazing mod. I've had so many "Oh shit" moments in Long War.

Have fun! didnt lw get rid of the teleporting and the aliens now move through the map? in vanilla they could literally teleport just behind you. in lw they may still overwhelm you, but if you treat carefully real bullshit situations should not happen.

Anyways, aliens in LW can still teleport, but it's more due to buggy pathing and having insufficient space for enemy units.

There are also lots of rumors about this being an xcom apocalypse remake, but there's no solid evidence to back up that claim at the moment. The only thing that's really confirmed is that it's another xcom game.

Should I try it even though I did not play that much of the normal game? Oh yeah definitely, it's so much better. Vanilla is like playing Skyrim, Oblivion or M&B Warband without mods to me

Should I try it even though I did not play that much of the normal game? if you really, really enjoy the xcom gameplay, then go for long war. its better in every way. the only "negative" point i can see is that a campaign takes so long to finish that at times it can become frustrating to play countless mission without any noticable progression or even abort a campaign after 50+ hours because you fucked up. but if you love killing aliens in turnbased tactical combat, play long war. its soooo good.
