Both parties are being fucking stupid and everyone should just relax until the people who are at the heart of this have a chance to to talk and come to some agreement. wait...so its ok to make that kind of joke if they guy was straight? if you think he deserves special treatment cause he is homosexual you are the one treating him differently. otherwise this is just your usual drama in the internet :D Straight people are not regularly and vehemently discriminated against for being straight. Your analogy is false. You (the privileged majority) do not get to decide what is and is not acceptable; you do not get to decide how people who are discriminated against should feel about discriminatory jokes and words.
Right, but causing offence isn't a crime, and being offended isn't actionable. Or at least, it shouldn't be. Twitch apparently feels differently, which is my primary interest in the whole thing.

For being not-straight, however, people do use that kind of wording, and they do imply such things. If you don't see the difference, then I cannot help you.

Precisely this. You cannot claim equality while still using words like "this gay/trans/furry etc".
Edit: I realize how much I am a culprit in this divergence, but can we all go back to talking about speedrunning and the Twitch streams and not deviate into equality and social rights? I won't say any more about it and I apologize for derailing the topic and what we should be talking about.

An admin just explained why they don't go over backgroup music but do care about copyright for icons, and it actually makes sense. If a company has an issue with the music, they have to go after the streamer, and can ask to shut down the channel or remove a video, but they don't go after the Twitch, YouTube, etc. Icons are aproved by Twitch, which means any copyright dispute would involve them.
It obviously doesn't excuse the inconsistent way that they review icons and emotes, that's a diferent subject, but they don't forget about those "LoL streamers" just because they have higher numbers.

Sure. My point about stream size was more to do with bans. It's easy to ban Werster, because 1k viewers is basically chicken feed. xpeke's 16k, or DreamLeague's 97k peak, is different, and would have been treated differently. If this had started in a different community, Twitch might not have reacted as drastically as they did, and the backlash wouldn't have been as extreme. My sense is that the vast majority of the outrage is over the bans, not the initial emoticon stuff.

Yes, and they're more willing to use it than they might be if it'd started with Snoopeh. Or whoever. Please don't make me explain this point more because I'm running out of League streamers to use as examples. Sadface.

Well, I dare say there wouldn't have been such a showing of protest in the LoL streamer community if it happened. Though the fanboy-outrage would've been so much worse.. Either way, I hope twitch will unban all these guys again soon and everything'll be back to normal.

Agreed. Hitbox is a'ight so far but kinda laggy. And I don't like the lack of quality options though that might be on the streamer's end.

Am I the only person who still uses Nico occasionally?
|
Well I dont speak Japanese so I cant do anything on Nico.
But I wouldnt trust Hitbox yet, they have to prove they can sustain themselves, especially with Own3ds CFO in the mix

So many streamers are being banned over this stupid shit... If you do something irrational to someones friend and NOT expect there to be backlash you are crazy...
Werster lost all his subs over this when he was just banned as an "example" for others to stop...
