Edit: I hope kenjon is okay.

Umm. Have you looked at the history books as of late?
I'm from Chicago, and went to U Pitt, but I have to say its disappointing to think that there will not be an SEC team in the title game this year, it really feels kinda lame to have the "champs" "dethroned" this way.
It feels, to me, that mentally I'll put an asterisk next to the champs because of the SEC cannibalism.

That's not fair. A USC fan could say the same thing. A FSU fan could say the same thing. Ohio State could say they deserve the #1 spot but are on suspension.
I (FSU fan) don't say that kind of thing. I don't excuse facts. We lost. That's how it goes. Winners go the NCG, losers get a bowl. The only time an asterisk should be considered is when there was improper conduct on one of the national championship teams. Or else almost everyone in this thread could play ad libs with what you said by inserting the team they thought should win.

I'm so happy I won't (hopefully) see BAMA and Nick Saban in the national championship game. Tired of seeing SEC teams, GIVE ME SOME VARIETY DANGIT

lol you never know. Who would have guessed that LSU, after they lost to Arkansas in 2007, could make it? or last year Alabama after they lost to LSU? Or heck, even Florida in 06 wouldn't have made it if UCLA didn't upset USC in the last week. We'll see if fortune smiles on Alabama once more. Need just 2 out of 3 to happen. USC to beat ND, Texas to beat Kansas State, and Oregon to stumble once.

Dear Kansas State, Oregon, Notre Dame + Bama in the SEC title game,
please don't mess up and let UGA into the title game somehow.
Thanks, Georgia Tech fans

This year could really use the 4 team playoff

I used to joke that for Texas a good year was competing for a NC. For A&M, a good year was beating Texas. Looks like they are continuing the tradition in the SEC.

I'm just saying, no SEC team means no "real" test. Deserved of perceived.
Also OSU? Real?

^The epitome of that article that was posted earlier.

Another example of the deranged train of the thought that the SEC is completely invulnerable. You say that the title isn't as meaningful just because an SEC team won't be in it? What the fuck is wrong with some you people?

y'all are just lucky OSU is ineligible

Invulnerable? How about, "i'd like to see them actually tested"

I see you have a regional bias.
Also, who hasn't been hoping for Oregon to FINALLY get to face an elite SEC team with something real on the line? Oh wait, everybody has been wanting to see that for 5 years.

Oh wait, everybody has been wanting to see that for 5 years. Me regional bias? Lol? Then what does it make you? I'm actually a die-hard ToSu fan. I root for the pac-12. Excuse me sir but would you tell me which team in the SEC do you consider elite? Bama? A team that when faced with the only two tough games on their scheudule went 1-1 when it should well been 0-2? Bama? A team that gave up 20pts in the first quarter to a freshman QB. ATM, a mediocre team in the Big-12 just to shine in the SEC west? Heck they nearly beat LSU and had they did would of been #1 in the SEC west. And you're calling me bias? Get outta here. And who would you consider "elite" in the SEC east? Florida? Should i even go there? Georgia? Honestly the ONLY reason i would watch Oregon vs SEC is because of the SEC hype. But if i wanted to watch a good game i'd rather watch Oregon vs K-State. Admit it the SEC this year is severely overhype and overrated. Their team is hard to watch. It's just ugly football.

SEC-haters can circlejerk over not seeing a sec team in the national championship game all they want. SEC will still be undefeated against other-conference opponents in the BCS NCG as far as I'm concerned. And don't blame bama for losing to a freshman qb. 2008 USC's "NFL" defense gave up what 150+ rushing yards to 5' 7'' true freshman Jacquizz Rodgers. Shits like that happens. They're the exceptions, not the rules.

I hope the Ducks win out and make the title game this year... not wanting to see ND vs KSU...

I'd say K-State more likely to make it than Oregon simply because Oregon's schedule leaves a lot of room for upset in the final 3 games.
