Ok, with Maryland and Rutgers (lol) going to the BIG 10 conference, what's next? UConn to the ACC seems like a given, but any possibility FSU bolts for the Big 12 and Va Tech/Clemson goes to the SEC?
|
If FSU price shops to a different conference I will be more disappointed in my university than at any point in the last 10 years. Except of course when they forced Bobby Bowden out.
Which makes me fully believe they're trying their best to negotiate a deal that isn't shit for joining the SEC or just going to the Big 12. Imo it's maybe the final straw for me. CF isn't about money for me. It's about tradition and the game. Dipping out of the ACC for a chance at more income is about as low of a reason as you can get.
|
Can't wait to play our long time Big 10 rivals Maryland and Rutgers every year. Nebraska makes sense to me as a Big Ten member (not that far from the other teams, and they had been trying to join since the Big 10's inception), but Maryland and Rutgers, really?
I just hope that they (mainly Rutgers) shows up to play, and don't end up as lower tier teams like Utah in the Pac-12.
It's starting to look like the Big 10-Big 12-SEC-Pac-12 superconferences are gonna be the future of FBS.

Nebraska is a perfect fit.
Maryland and Rutgers? do not want

It's starting to look like the Big 10-Big 12-SEC-Pac-12 superconferences are gonna be the future of FBS. Let's be honest about "tradition." Michigan fans don't give a flying fuck about playing Indiana or Illinois, and Minnesota barely registers as a real rivalry. I'd rather play Rutgers than the Big 10 bottom feeders. I don't care for Maryland, but I guess we couldn't get Pitt. Michigan is the team that is getting screwed the most by this expansion. If the conference realignment that the Maryland pres talked about happens. Michigan gets to add Illinois to its division while the other division gets Maryland and Rutgers. The issue is the Michigan is always going to play OSU every year, while the other 6 teams will play them once every six years or something crazy. So Michigan is going to have a significantly harder schedule than the rest of the division year in and year out. Also OSU/Wisc will have a cakewalk to the BTCG, considering Penn. St will trend downwards for the next 10 years or so with the sanctions.
The divisions in question Legends
Michigan Nebraska Michigan State Iowa Minnesota Northwestern Illinois Leaders
Ohio State Penn State Wisconsin Purdue Indiana Maryland Rutgers
Honestly addind these teams just dilutes the B1G brand even more, in an era when it is fighting for respect. Maryland and Rutgers are not going to compete for conference championships ever. Unless this move is required to get the TV money to lure a couple of major schools(Texas/ND/OU) when the B1G eventually goes to 16 teams it is a bad move.
|
WTF, not Illinois; take Purdue or Indiana.
OSU/Illinois may be an extremely one-sided rivalry, but it's still a rivalry. gotsta win dat turtle
|
Purdue needs to be in same division as Ohio State, since that game has more often than not been interesting.

I do plan on holding you to this! Hope you haven't forgotten. You'd better hope you hit USC with lattimore out cause thats YOUR only chance of winning. What? This is easy money how can i forget... If K-State end up playing S.carolina or Florida i might give you a better odd to entice you to bet more. Maybe 3-1. Haha, if this does happen we need to watch together during a skype call! I'd love to hearr your reaction to an actual defense firsthand. If you hit usc you've got a chance, otherwise you're SOL my friend! Ya i doubt they'll play Florida. Florida is gonna end up playing in the outback bowl after FSU handle them.
They are currently projected to play Clemson in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl (lol). I really hope his prediction about the Cotton Bowl is correct too. Texas v Texas A&M in a bowl game? I'd watch that.

About Big Ten division alignment, I guess it makes sense. Can't have Rutgers and Maryland in the Lakes Division
I don't think Michigan fans will care about having to play Ohio State every year. I think they'd rather whip some Buckeye ass than get a free win over one of the joke teams from that division.

Maryland and Rutgers? do not want
This is a play for ND.
Ten years from now, they will have no other option except for the B1G.
There are only 19 Universities... - that have FBS football programs, - that are ranked within the U.S. News & World Report Top 75 nationally, - which have a Top 75 U.S. ranking according to Academic Ranking of World Universities, - have combined undergraduate and postgraduate enrollments of over 30,000 students - and are also members of the Association of American Universities.
Big Ten (12 of 14): Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan St., Minnesota, Ohio St., Penn St., Purdue, Rutgers, Wisconsin (notice who's missing... NW which is just small but academically elite, and Nebraska, who we took because of their football program only). Pac 12 (4 of 12): California, UCLA, USC, Washington SEC (2 of 14): Florida, Texas A&M Big 12 (1 of 10): Texas Big East (0 of 11): ACC (0 of 13):

I believe Nebraska was a member of the AAU prior to joining the big 10. I think they lost it during negotiations

I dont even care if my Irish win in it, I just really want to see an ND vs. Bama NCG. If you are rooting for USC do you really want to see another all SEC championship?

If ND loses to USC and Florida losing to Florida St. Then Oregon would definately get in Since Bama and Georgia is gonna have to play each other in the SEC championship game.
