Mcgahee's knee exploding.
The PI call O_O
Two big reasons.
Along with those, lots of Miami fans will tell you Larry Coker isn't a good coach. He inherited a team in 2001 that had Butch Davis' players, with Ed Reed's leadership in the locker room and, for the defense, on the field. The following year they were without Reed.
And OSU did have a legitimately tough defense that kept them in the game. Miami turned the ball over 3 times in the 2nd quarter, leading to 14 points for Ohio State on very short drives. Also OSU scored by throwing an interception then having their RB strip ball back from the CB and recover in FG range.
On top of the infamous PI call, it was kinda like Miami's loss to Penn State for the 1986 championship where they just shot themselves in the foot over and over again.

People have such a short term view of things. Every program goes up and down, and that includes Michigan, USC, Florida, Alabama, etc. We're only 5 years out from Alabama being Independence Bowl regulars. Florida had a bunch of 5 loss seasons in the 2000s. USC had a great decade, but then they were caught cheating and they weren't even bowl eligable a few times in the 90s. Stanford was mostly bad until Harbaugh's third year.
Being the Georgia of the midwest? I
This is true
kinda random, but I took a look at the Wolverine's football reference page. In 1992, they went 9-0-3. How in the fuck do you tie three times in a season??? Jesus.

I saw Dorsey a bit when he was on the Niners and then the Browns. So awful. You would have never guessed where he came from.

I still think Tommie Frazier of Nebraska 1994-1995 national championship teams (Nebraska Fan), was the best college football player to play the game, but didn't get drafted at all due to his Crohn's Disease and a poor scouting combine. He played for like a year or two in the Canadian football league then retired after he kept getting sick.
I remember the last talk of this thread being about the 2001 hurricanes. Looks like the ncaa is about to release what the charges against the team and how long back this business has been going on. sanctions from this will be coming in may or june so its a while off till we know if its the death penalty or not.
So what's happening with that bet thing, iGrok? Challenging someone to a bet (he's the one who first challenged money, no?) and then not paying is pretty :/.

He says that I didn't respond to his pm making sure that I was still doing the bet until the game was already 28-0, which is true, but a really shitty cop out when Id given all indication that the bet was still on and never backed down at all.
Original Message From iGrok: This is a weak cop-out and you know it.
I would have gladly payed up, because I have a reputation to maintain on TL.
Did I give you any indication at all that I would not pay up? That the wager was off? No. You made a bet, and now you should live with it.
Original Message From Damiani: umm.. iGrok, Sorry but you responded when the score was 28-0..... I have no problem with paying up $20. But i do have a problem with people taking advantage of others. Ask any bookies or sports bettor if any of them would take a bet after a game has started. Even worse, when a team is up 28pts. I tried msging you a week before the game. Hours before the game started. And minutes before the game started. Sorry bro.
The only PM I have from him in that time is on January 6th, when I was out of town. As soon as I got back (which was 30 minutes after the game started - thank god for TiVo) - I sent him a pm saying yes we were still on.
Unlike him, I care about what people on TL think of me. There is no way I was going to back out of that bet.

The University immediately initiated an investigation to assist Manti and his family in discovering the motive for and nature of this hoax. While the proper authorities will continue to investigate this troubling matter, this appears to be, at a minimum, a sad and very cruel deception to entertain its perpetrators.

what a piece of shit. if you read that, it's pretty evident that he had to have been in on it
Agreed. At some point of the scam, he is in the know and playing right along.
