Yeah, I liked the play at the end of the third quarter where Harden dribbled for like 20 seconds, then passed to Parsons on the wing with no time left and Gasol right in front of him. And then Harden has a talk with Parsons after Gasol blocked the shot. What the fuck was Parsons really going to do in that time? Yeah, sounds like a Westbrook move (though Westbrook probably would have chucked it himself instead of passing at all) :/ Oh well, psyched for playoffs now!
Would you guys say Harden is still overall a better distributor/playmaker than Lin though? I remember you guys were saying that Harden does everything Lin does better basically. Would be cool if the Rockets could give the spurs a run for their money. Nobody thought they'd do this well at all :o

You want Harden handling the ball in those spots but you've got to set picks for him to force the D to rotate. Harden isn't a brilliant iso player for mine but does so much damage when the D has to rotate/isn't set. He kept just driving into the best defensive big in the game or shovelling off the ball with 4 secs remaining on the clock. Disastrous way to run an end game offence.

^Rockets are going to play (die to) OKC.

I think the combo of Dwight's defense and Asik being a non-factor on offense killed the Rockets that game. With Dwight being able to essentially ignore Asik on defense, he was free to shut down the paint and keep Harden and Lin out. By deterring their drives, he made it a lot easier for the Lakers perimeter players to stick close and harass them into less than ideal shots.
I agree that Harden really seemed to be screwing over his teammates with those passes to the corner late in the shot clock. What did he expect them to do in those situations?
I'm really looking forward to the Western Conference playoffs as everything turned out as I had hoped. Battle of the beat old up champions (LAL-SAS), Harden vs Durant/Westbrook (OKC-HOU), high octane vs. high octane (DEN-GSW), and great rivalry rematch (LAC-MEM). Exciting!

That game was winnable for the Rockets, both teams scored like 3 points combined for the first 3 and a half minutes of OT, and most of the rest were FTs. When against Blake and Jamison on D I was surprised they didn't run more Harden-Parsons, Lin-Parsons, Lin-Harden, Parsons-big man PnRs, since Parsons has the clear speed advantage in that MU and Blake's defense is terrible.

They're missing Patterson's range as a stretch 4 also. With Smith as Asik in they're completely reliant on Harden/Lin to initiate with Parson in the corner on threes. Having Smith and Asik allowed the Lakers to pack the middle on D, which they looked a lot more comfortable with given Howard's ability defensively.
Unfortunately for the Rox, Montiejunas has been a flop so far; as has Thomas Robinson. They need to stick to what works best for them at those end game spots, the PnR, and stop clogging the middle with Asik and Smith who just aren't threats offensively. Some big failures from McHale at the end.

So now that playoff picture is complete, predictions?

Oh the playoffs thread has already been made right? Should we just move to that one now?

I wouldn't call Montiejunas or Robinson flops. They're big man rookies, shit always takes time. Robinson has potential to be very good.

Yeah, just like Mike Brown.

If I were a reasonable person I'd give him the benefit of the doubt cause of the injuries. The Lakers management are not reasonable people and he will be gone mid-season.
@Jibba- time to lock this thread? Feel like we should move over to the playoff one now that the regular season is over.

Well, my thought was that those of us whose teams aren't in the playoffs need a thread too. ._. If we get an off-season thread, I'll lock it.
