I still enjoyed DS2 since it is still better than the vast majority of games I play. I simply can't understand the visceral hatred some people seem to have for it. Its no DeS or DS1, but it is still a souls game and was fun to play through twice.

This plus a bunch of other random games (idk if any of them are good). It was enough for me to buy it, after spending a few hundred hours in Dks2.

Thing is that for me, the souls games aren't all that atmospherical anymore in general. DS1 was very atmospheric to me back when I first played it because of how terrible I was at the game: the fear of dying combined with a world where almost every living thing was out to murder you gave the game an atmosphere that was second to none. However, having not played anything but the souls games for almost a year and a half, I have gotten pretty good at the games and the fear of dying is all but absent. Bloodborne's dreadful atmosphere was lost on me because firstly I wasn't afraid of dying in the slightest and secondly because I am familiar with From's tricks by now. I play the SoulsBorne games primarily for the gameplay, and in that regard DaS is in my opinion the least good (haven't played Demons' Souls but that one looks rather archaic in terms of mechanics and sudden difficulty spikes).

Some bosses are very difficult (in the good way, not the DS2 way), but the same can be said for DS1 or Bloodborne.

I hope they can spice up things for DS veterans but knowing miyazaki I kind of doubt that. Challenge or not at least it will look pretty (assuming it's 60fps) and nice sunday experience.

Dark Souls 1 and 2 shared the same attack patterns across enemies and bosses, making it relatively easy for experienced players to react correctly to certain situations. Bloodborne changed this up a lot, and I sincerely hope that the team designing DaS3 builds on those foundations instead of revisiting DaS 1 & 2. I prefer the more dynamic combat of Bloodborne. Bloodborne definitely made me a better Dark Souls player largely due to the former's emphasis on shieldless play.

It's also addicting as hell Started off really struggling and using co op for some bosses but now I think I'm finally starting to grasp how I can squirm my way through. This is probably the first game that I have played thats just difficult for the sake of being difficult since Super Mario Bros. 3

In other news, DS2 DLC 7/9. Only Fume Knight and whatever else waits in the Ivory King DLC.

So now I am looking for some recommendations regarding what kind of character i should play. The best would be something fun that i haven't tried yet, but it should also be not completely shitty. Any ideas?

Only Ranged weapons. Greatbow, Bow of want, throwing daggers, crossbow shield, repeater Xbow etc.
