It would be ok if you could just play offline, but they force you to stay connected to save your game. That's total bullshit, and I hope they come up with something better in DS2. You don't have to be connected, I know I wasn't (no internet at all) for my first few plays. On PC, you don't have a choice, you're not allowed to save the game without it being connected. Your only option is to run as hollow if you dislike being ganked. You don't need to be online to save your game in DS, Steam and GFWL both have an offline mode.

Oh damn... I do so hope that is not true. I do absolutely hate it when games do that. Don't mind the rest of the list though. Well since the PC version is released later, I'll just wait until the console people will clarify a bunch of stuff. I think its that after you have killed certain enemies large number of times they stop respawning. If you played the online test version you would have noticed that those fat sickle guys stopped respawning after you killed them like 5 times. Compare this to Dark Souls. For example, the Channeler in Undead Burg before the Gargoyles does not respawn after you kill him. In Dark Souls 2 you would have a certain number of tries to get the drop from him. Or just having to deal with him. Ah yes, of course. This behavior makes much more sense. Although in the list I quoted it sounds a lot more like "The guy in question respawned a few times, but stopped doing that after I died a bunch." So I am quite worried about that. And no, I did not have access to the Beta testing stuff. Don't tell me there was an open one, that I totally missed. xD Well, not open but everyone with EU PSN+ were able to participate in the network test. Worth the 6 euros, imo.

So Altsa sounds accurate.

Yes based on what he said it's possible that if you die repeatedly but kill nothing, nothing will change. But if you kill repeatedly something it stops respawning. So if you have trouble and die a lot, since you still kill stuff each try it may end up removing some of the enemies.
By the way I noticed I wrote "A pnj is used to increase level and estus #/quality". I meant a NPC not PNJ (which is french for NPC, "personnage non joueur").

Does anyone know the date for the PC release ?
I can't seem to find anything reliable online
|
No date yet, last time I wrote about the game, From Software was mentioning april - june as possible PC release.
|
From OP:
Confirmed for PS3, 360, PC. PC will be lead this time around, and 60 fps is target on it. No word on release date yet.
Did they change it ? If PC version doesn't get released at the same time as the PS3/XBOX I would be really pissed...

I double checked (working as game journalist have it good sides), and last information (not official) is that Amazon put PC version of Dark Souls on 31.05.2014 - but that could also be a placeholder. Nothing official yet, but it's rather obvious PC version will be a bit later.

The wait is definitely worth it, imo. I picked it up this year on PC and controls without a controller were god awful. It was also pretty strange, my rig which could run Tomb Raider, Metro: LL and Bioshock Infinite all at high with solid 60fps would somehow tank fps in dark souls at some parts, even skipping some frames. This is also with dsfix.
So yeah, if they put some extra time in to really smooth things out and make it a proper PC game I'd be happy to wait

So Im debating whether I should get this for 360 or wait for PC release... Are the graphics on PC much better than on xbox?

I feel there is so much more flexibility in pc games as opposed to console games. But I have only played Dark Souls on a console, and I am not ashamed to say I probably died on a ratio of 1death per 5 minutes gameplay.

Based on DS1, with community fixes that allowed higher resolutions: yes. Also no problems with framerate.

yes. better. much.
also afaik there were some pretty bad slowdowns in ds1, i wouldnt bet on the 360 to handle ds2 much better.
