It's just as "bad" as every other pc port. You're going to let that ruin the game? Not to mention it honestly isn't that bad of a port. Oh no 30 frames. Boohoo, it's still a great game.
Just because there's a lot of bad ports out there doesn't mean dark souls wasn't a bad port. Play a game that are actually ported correctly and there's a big difference. They did the least amount possible for the game to be playable and saying a bad port is acceptable will only screw us consumers by giving us even more bad ports. Look at the difference between borderlands 1 and 2 for instance. Same game basically, different ports by quite a lot.
There's a clear difference between a game made for PC and consoles, and a game completed for consoles then made available on PC because of a petition. While Dark Souls was a bad PC port, it was either that or nothing for PC, which most people buying it knew from the start. Taking a finished game and remaking it to be awesome on PC is quite a daunting task, which was never intended. However, since Dark Souls 2 is being made for PC from the start, now is the time to have expectations. If Dark Souls 2 is as weak of a PC port, that will be a big problem. It's not fair to compare to Dark Souls 1 though, since it was a completely different situation. In regards to Dark Souls 1, there's really only two viewpoints one can hold: Either it was good that they at least made it for PC, or it would have been better if they never attempted it.

Eh no, you can have more viewpoints than that. You write a lot of words without saying much. But hey, seeing things in black and white is fun... The petition part have no relevance when it comes to how good of a port it was. That's it.
-TORCHES AND REALLY FUCKING DARK DUNGEON CRAWLING -FISHING FOR THOSE BACKSTABS? ENJOY BEING FALLEN ON TOP OF -DESTRUCTIBLE ENVIRONMENTS -LOTS OF YOU DIED -AMAZING GRAPHICS -GHOST SKELETON JURASSIC PARK -GHOST CHARIOTS -AXE THROWING DWARVES -YOU DIED SOME MORE -DRAGON ORGY ON A RICKETY BRIDGE YOU ARE CROSSING -FUCKING GHOST CHARIOTS
I am GIDDY. All my fears have been vanquished (for now).
Let's see my main wants:
-Does it retain the same feel as Dark Souls? Yes, and kinda a bit of Demon Souls is back. But some of the later parts of the trailer was bleeding Dark Souls. CHECK -Does it have similar or improved graphics? Looked odd at first, cuz I'm not used to seeing that type of environment in DS, but I definitely think the graphics improved once we got to see more. CHECK -Do the enemies look awesome? Hmm let's see, giant dragon, chariots of doom, and trolls that throw axes. CHECK -Does it look like I will die a gazillion times? Well, the guy in the demo had a pretty large health bar, and even then it looked liked a lot of things would just 2 shot you if you weren't careful. CHECK -Will I buy the game? FUCK YEAH

I would agree with you if there wasnt a fix by a random guy on the internet that made the game more than playable on PC with mouse and keyboard. That basically makes you wrong.
EDIT: There is another 10 minute video that wasnt posted. Its an interview with the director and producer from the first video where they explain the game in detail. Here is the link.

The petition part is completely relevant. They were never planning on doing a pc version. I agree the port wasn't very good + Show Spoiler +
(neither was the borderlands 1 port, also bl2 isn't just more of the same, it's very iterative like sequels are supposed to be)
, but there is most definitely a clear difference between designing a game for the pc from the ground up and one that is merely ported, especially when it's done unexpectedly, squeezing it in with whatever time and resources they could spare from other projects.
While it would have been nice if they took even more time to completely rewrite the graphics engine to allow 60fps (even the dsfix can't do it with its speedhack without issues because the engine isn't designed for it) and not used things like gfwl, an unexpected port like this means they had to manage their resources; all games, even finished ones, have to prioritize and cut corners and content somewhere (or else they end up like DNF).
They also had the decency to release it at a lower price point with the additional content included.
OMG it's happening!!!!!!! Excited out of this earth for this game, DkS has been one of the best gaming experiences ever, I seriously can't wait for this.
I don't want to overhype myself, but this is looking to be everything people wanted it to be. After everyone got nervous with the initial previews and cinematic trailer.... But this looks amazing. Can't wait to check out the full gameplay interview later when I get home.
I hate getting my hopes up, and I had reached inner peace with the potential of the sequel squandering everything good about the series... but maybe I'll be wrong. One can only hope.
Edit: I don't mean my last statement in the most negative way, just in a "if the sequel to the game(s) which quickly became one of my favorite of all-time isn't that good, it's ok." Lightning in a bottle, as they say.
