will you have the same group of people available before and after you make the area NG+? or will only people currently playing the area in NG+ be able to be summoned?

I think its same group. Too often I try to summon into an astheticed area and have the summons get completely and utterly destroyed, just making the boss harder.

I have a str/dex build, right now using a Black Knight Halberd +5, but he's too tough to beat when he clones himself. Is there a really solid melee weapon that can take him out quickly? He's proving to be the hardest boss I've come across yet, and all I've beaten everyone else except Nashandra He is really hard as a melee, and really, really easy as a caster. Even more so then the rest of the game. You can't really keep your eyes on both of them while meleeing one, so you have to kinda guess when to dodge the other, or back up and look at him. Meanwhile as a caster you can easily watch both at the same time, and one AoE spell when they do split usually nearly oneshots that half of the fight anyways. If you really want to stay melee, a fire enchant even with 0 int/faith will drasticly increase your damage against him.

Darklurker's melee is pretty damn annoying for a melee setup due to its range, but it has a slow build-up. Roll towards it rather than away from it. Once lurker divides, try to separate the two of them, rather than stacking them. Your best chance to do so will be when one of them floats into the air to use the beam. Bait the other one away, and then run back for free hits on the floater as it comes down. Running back and forth between the two and dodging their attacks is pretty much the rest of the fight. I used Greatsword on my run, but damage wasn't really an issue as much as the mechanics of the fight. BK Halberd +5 should be doing more than enough damage. There are other options for Str./Dex. like katanas or other slashing weapons. You could experiment with twinblades. Honestly, the best free hits in the Darklurker fight are when it comes down from the flying laser beam. You simply wait under the bugger and crush a stamina bar before (s)he can do anything.

The summoning is based on factors like your soul level and covenant. Whether or not you've used an ascetic won't influence the players that can be summoned. If you're having difficulty summoning in a zone because of your SL you could try using name-engraved ring and/or changing covenant.

Or just don't use the lockon targetting and you can pay attention to all your surroundings easily.

The hardest part is just getting to know his abilities and how much time you actually have to hit him when he clones. Turned out my problem was that I was too afraid and didn't realize how big the openings were. I FINALLY BEAT HIM!!! *cue Guile's theme* + Show Spoiler + Basically, pyromancies are your best friend if you're a pure melee class like me. I don't have any attunement slots, so I used the Southern Ritual Band +1 (which gives 2 slots) and filled it with Flame Swathe and Great Fireball. So, I fought the Darklurker until he splits. He's obviously extremely easy to fight while there's only one of him. Then I unleashed the hellfire upon him, and he died :3 Thank you From for pyromancy, casting for non-faith/magic characters ;D But eventually, the black phantoms I'm farming bonfire ascetics for will eventually stop spawning. If I use a BA to respawn them, will the Dark Lurker get respawned as well?

So once those spirits stop respawning, I guess the only way to farm bonfire ascetics is to invade in the Dark Chasms? Seems a bit lame.

From what I've been reading on forums, it appears you can't respawn the dark spirits in the Dark Chasms by burning a BA at the nearest bonfire to a Chasm though (haven't tried this out personally, please correct me if I'm wrong). But I forgot the Memory of Orro also has 3 in a chest near the Grand Lance. I found out that burning a BA in the bonfire past the King's door (near memory of jeigh) respawns all the memories.
