http://wccftech.com/the-witcher-3-blood-wine-expansion-big-skellige-islands-combined-feature-improved-visuals/
We know that the Blood and Wine expansion will feature a twenty-hour tale that will take Geralt to the all-new in-game region of Toussaint. What we didn’t know is that Toussiant will be as big as all islands of Skellige combined. If you consider how big of an area that is, the new Blood and Wine area will be insanely large. The Skellige consists of 6 islands located off the coast of Cidaris and Verden.
Since the announcement of the second expansion, several screenshots have been released by CD Projekt Red, showcasing the beautiful and colourful Toussiant. While The Witcher 3 and its first expansion, Hearts of Stone, already looked amazing, the graphics for the new in-game region have been improved. For instance, the foliage and grass have received an upgrade, and according to CD Projekt’s quest designer and PR manager, they were looking to replace the grass on the entire Witcher 3 map with the new, improved ‘Hearts of Stone grass’.

Well I have to say that grass/vegetation is the only weak point of this game graphicswise, so it should definitely be something they're looking to improve.
|
will that mean pc requirements will increase as well?
|
depends on if the new graphics are more demanding i ve not found anything offical yet.
on another note i am pretty stoked for the dlc - i love this game

Every once in a while a game comes along that is awesome enough to motivate me to buy an appropriate system just for that. First time it was Wind Waker, second time was Starcraft 2, third time was Witcher III. Quite the accomplishment CD project red ;P

Any idea when the GOTY Edition is supposed to come out?
I've been putting off playing this so I can enjoy the complete edition for ages now!

That is true. The mod that improved foliage in Skyrim actually increased the performance.

Playing these kinds of games completionist style is frustrating because you will over level and gear the content too quickly. Same thing happened to me in DAI where i would do every single thing in Hinterlands, this time it was called Velen. I have to say the question marks became really annoying at some point and i started ignoring them while only doing the main quest line. Hell, i skipped every side quest in Skellige because i was so high level already and couldn't bother... maybe next playthrough :/

Does this game still have a loot system where 95% of the things you find are absolutely useless because witcher gear trumps everything?

Yeah, did the same thing until I read that they're kind of worthless. It was hard to ignore all the question marks, but knowing that they served no real purpose to the story I decided to skip the last 1000 or whatever. I am glad that they're putting in these expansions, but I think it is too soon for me to replay the game.

I guess CDPR had to make the decision between having an open world sparsely filled with mostly quality content or a lot of virtually procedural content mixed with the quality. Either way, I suspect people would have complained about the open world being too thinned out in the first, or what we have now with complaints of too much trash content. Only suggestion I can really give is avoid treasure hunts and the like, turn off question marks and adventure by stumbling upon them, rather than doing it like a checklist. As for sidequests and exp, and loot, those are issues they didn't rectify in patches which is unfortunate.

Does the story line happen after the ending or before?

Like HoS I assume B&W will be in this pseudo-continuity where it's somehow in between the main story but not really because Geralt probably wouldn't take a vacation for a few months down in Toussaint with his daughter at risk who holds the fate of the multiverse at stake.

It could be afterwards I suppose? Geralt "disappeared" after everything that happened in the main story and decided to lie low in Toussaint (which sounds like a pleasant enough place) but couldn't help but be dragged into some plot again.
And Phoenixvoid your suggestion of turning of side quest markers is actually a pretty good idea because I was definitely "guilty" of treating them like a checklist...

Did the last expansion have ciri? will this one?
|
On May 09 2016 13:58 zulu_nation8 wrote: Did the last expansion have ciri? will this one? The last expansion didn't have Ciri. The continuity worked in a way that could fit it either during the story or after you finish it, and the high level requirements for the quest make it best suited for players who were leveled enough for the end of the main storyline. There were three or four instances of dialogue that would change depending on progress through the main story.
I doubt the new expansion will have Ciri, but I expect some minor dialogue that could reflect on the world state.

finally, i really enjoyed the first one

Details on B&W leaked earlier than expected, which is supposed to be tomorrow. Apparently a trailer or teaser is coming out tomorrow as well.
+ Show Spoiler +The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt released in May 2015 with its first expansion, Hearts of Stone, launching later that year. Now, we have some new details on the next expansion, Blood and Wine. Players will find themselves in the peaceful land of Toussaint, where you'll be in pursuit of a beast with a secret that's tormenting the kingdom. The expansion contains more than 30 hours of new gameplay, and the new region rivals Velen and Novigrad in size, according to a press release from CD Projekt Red. Blood and Wine is described as "a 20-hour tale" on its Steam page. Blood and Wine includes over 90 new quests and 40 new points of interest. It also introduces a dynamic system, where interacting with an area's main POI affects adjacent points -- for example, killing enemies in their main hideout lowers their numbers in surrounding camps. Additionally, there will be 14,000 new lines of dialogue, which is 8,000 more than the previous expansion. New gear and monsters include over 30 new weapons, 100 individual pieces of armor, and more than 20 new monsters. No specifics were announced. 12 new mutations were detailed, however, and players will be able to unlock them in New Game Plus. The mutations include one that causes enemies to freeze and die instantly when knocked by Aard, one that makes enemies to explode when they're killed with a sign's critical hit, and another that heals and grants you damage immunity when you lose all of your health. Other additions include the New Game Plus maximum level increasing to 100, a new "Skellige" Gwent deck, and a redesigned user interface. Players will also be able to change the color of their gear with armor dyes that can be obtained through merchants, recipes or loot. However, these can only be acquired in Toussaint.
tl;dr: 30 hours of gameplay, 90 new quests and 40 POIs, "dynamic POIs" affecting number of enemies in an area, 14,000 lines of dialogue, 30 new weapons, 100 pieces of armour, 20 new monsters, 12 new mutations
As usual I'm excited for the new quests and how dynamic POIs will work out. Especially glad to see 20 new enemies because one of TW3's main flaws were lack of enemy variety, so this remedies it somewhat. Some of the mutations sound a bit too powerful though.
