If it is open world, then they'd better damn well not fall into the same trap that TES does. I want my actions to have an effect on the world, not this "Oh, you murdered a whole city, but nothing really changed" nonsense.

The games are a continuation of the books after the last one, though I felt the novel had a satisfying conclusion with or without the games to provide a total ending to everything.

For instance, Geralt's combat animations have gone from about 8 to 96.

I've been meaning to play Witcher 2 for some time now; I started 1 but, while it started okay, the gameplay got quite dull and repetitive, even though the story was interesting. I mean, I can put up with some tedium for a good story, like I did in Mass Effect, but I just couldn't get into TW1. What little I've done of TW2 seemed better. Still not exactly my thing, but a massive improvement. Hopefully this one is more so, kind of like what Mass Effect (again) did, with the jump between one and two being huge, and then subtler refinements in 3. If it is open world, then they'd better damn well not fall into the same trap that TES does. I want my actions to have an effect on the world, not this "Oh, you murdered a whole city, but nothing really changed" nonsense. It really picks up after the Swamp Chapter. Any time I feel like replaying The Witcher 1, I just hesitate when thinking about that chapter, but after that it's just awesome. It probably has to do with them overhauling the gameplay system, but now that they have the Witcher 2 gameplay system template done, they can expand from that. Do keep in mind that this was done on a 10.3m $ budget by less than 100 people.

I did think the ending of Witcher 2 was kinda meh but the gameplay itself and the overarching storyline were really cool. Very much looking forward to this game.

Games never look as good as in the Trailers. CDProject is not stupid, they wont release a Game that needs a GTX780. Like in most Games you barely can see a difference between High and Ultra. Ultra just adds stupid effects that cost like 100% more performance for 5% more Imagequality. People who can play Witcher 2 on Ultra will be fine for Witcher 3.

Seriously considering buying new PC just for it. I tried searching for the books but I could have sworn that only some of them were translated to English.

Wow thats disastrous that the books aren't translated yet. I remember reading around 2005-2006 that translations are in the works (official). Guess it didnt happen lol. Overall i think 2 first books + 5book is one of the best fantasy series of the last 20 years.

Witcher 2 was a nearly perfect Game. It basically had no flaws except the corny shadows and Act3. CDProject should not allow people to play Witcher 3, that have not completed Witcher 1+2. I hate hipsters that join a stroy-focused Games for a 3rd/4th Game and did not play the first Games. Like Winning-Team-Joiners in Football o_0 You still have 8month left, better hurry.

Very much looking forward to this game. + Show Spoiler [Witcher 2 story spoilers] + what? But the last boss fight was epic (the dragon, not Letho). And the story behind it was even more epic. Did you play the Act 2 on the side of Vernon Roche or on the side of Iorveth? Because you get two very different acts with different story background depending on the side you chose (the reason I played through the whole game twice) and you can only truly understand the impact of the ending if you have played both sides. Also the game has like 6 different endings or something like that depending on your choices in Act 2 and 3
