I know it's like a standard norm but I am pretty much boycotting any game that has a season pass. The game looks fun but I will wait and see if there is a decent sale for it in the next 6 months.

this game is pretty dope so far. I really only tried the skirmish maps and the combat squadron for a little bit. The maps are good enough so far, though it feels like day 1 beta again with tons of newbies running past power ups, the objective, etc.
it will be easier to comment on balance in a couple days. The ender map is fun though

i played the beta, i thought it was a great looking game and the sound was amazing, sadly, whie the gameplay was fun it gave me that "this will get boring quite fast" feeling
ill giveit a shot once it drops a little bit tho

I bought the regular $60 version and about 6 hours into it I am having a lot of fun. The game has probably the best sound effects I've heard in any game in a long time and the graphics are really nice on my overpowered pc. I am still pretty clueless on the best ways to use starfighters, vehicles, and heroes but my experience with other shooters is allowing me to kick ass using conventional methods of point and shoot.
The downsides for me right now are that there are a limited number of maps, and some of the weapons seemingly are better than others. Like the impact grenade just feels better than the thermal detonator in pretty much all situations. I also don't particularly like how often you get spawned directly in the line of fire of an AT-AT or some other similar inescapable situation.
What others have said about empire having a tough time on the endor map seems right to me, but I feel like a decent part of that is that the rebels have camo while the stormtroopers don't. I wish they'd release camo skins for the stormtroopers. Hopefully we get some more content before an expac, but not holding my breath given its EA.

The audio/visual design is stunning. I think there's quite a consensus on that.
Weapon imbalance is just a DICE standard. Either you put in the money or time to grind the levels or you just try not to think about it.
|
Man what a game for the first ten hours! Now where's the rest of the stuff... :< ((extremely polished, I'd buy it again in a heartbeat, but probably not worth $60 to most people))
|
Impact is good, but thermals definitely have use. I get a lot of bank shots or ones where I want to place it slightly ahead of my target. Thermal imploder is still the coolest.
Maps are really my only complaint, but we get that 1 new planet in a couple weeks for free. I still would prefer more but I'm pretty sure I will get the dlcs as much as it sucks to have to pay for what should have been in the game. Endor is still great if a bit of a challenge for the empire.

One issue with having vehicles as unlockable call downs rather than just spawning at specific points is you lose a lot of creative sneaky play. Sometimes you get these epic moments where as Rebels you sneak into an abandoned ATST and swipe it to go on a rampage, or as Imperials, you sneak an airspeeder out from under the Rebels' noses and go on a strafing run. You didn't get it every game, but when it happened it felt so good. Connecting vehicle spawns to command points also gave very specific and important objectives to eliminate enemy vehicles as well.

Well after playing 14 hours I realized that this game just isn't fun, like at all...
It's a grind, getting a "good" match is a matter of abusing a mechanic. Could be explosive spam, the horrible spawn system or simply camping vehicle spots... you can go 40-10 or 10-40.
I was really looking forward to a casual shooter but this...

with objective-based stuff from minute 1 along with the fact that you're playing a huge pub, players are bound to find out and abuse what's strong. that can be fun as well since you can grab some players and try to punish those choices--which throws many different types of players off kilter. it's fun when you win, and it's fun when you mount the odds... which a game like this can offer, provided the clutch plays and teamwork.

The game itself is decent, but I feel like the lack of maps is hurting it. I've also unlocked all the guns already at rank 25 and that's a bit sad. I don't even like half of them. Audio/visuals are amazing, gunplay is all right. I just want more/better maps.
Also, curse those Sullust turrets. They are a horror to deal with.

TB's video was great.
I'm eagerly awaiting AngryJoe's review because I know he is going to destroy it.

It just went up
I don't want to bash the game having never played it myself, but is it true they're already working on Battlefront 2 instead of working on this mess?

Just have to say this. So many gamedesigners just have no clue what makes good gameplay. It kinda makes me mad a bit..tiny atleast.

His review was pretty much how I expected it to be lol although the score surprised me. No way does it even deserve a 5/10. More like a 3/10 just for the graphics and sound design alone.
I don't know if its true though, but knowing EA I would not doubt it in the slightest. Hey, who knows, maybe they will scrap a Battlefront 2 after seeing the outcry of how terrible the first one is.
Funny that a game that was made 10 years ago is VASTLY SUPERIOR in every way possible to a current triple A(LOL) game.
My advise to anyone who is thinking of getting Battlefront. Don't. Just don't. If you want the real Battlefront experience then just get Battlefront 2. Many many people still play it.

its pretty fun, ive played it for nearly 40 hrs on ps4, id give it a 7/10

I have a friend who purchased this on PS4. If I get the PC version, can I play with him online, are the servers shared between platforms? Thx
