While I'm happy to finally see some news about the new Doom game because its about time, I'm just afraid of what it might be. Also, the reasons theres no video is because supposedly they took down the Quakecon stream(if there was one I dunno) before they showed any gameplay because it was a Quakecon exclusive for the people that were there.

Most are bad and some are good and I don't know how I feel if they are taking the chance and rebooting Doom. I loved Doom 3 and RoE. Honestly, I would rather have a new survival/horror Doom like Doom 3/RoE instead of a Doom game thats similar to the old games. Its been awhile since theres actually been a good scary game. I think I would have to give up on a proper doom sequel ever coming out if they decided to take it in the style of doom 3 survival horror. But speaking of doom, if none of you are aware the quakecon showing has kind of indicated that doom 4 is pretty heavily influenced by a very popular mod called brutal doom. Here's a little trailer if you're not exactly sure what it entails. While brutal doom is not exactly what im personally looking for in doom 4, it does have a lot of potential if done correctly. By the looks of things expect a fast-paced run and gun involving fatalities, GORE, tons of monster types and huge fights in comparison to doom 3.

NOTE: there is no gameplay footage in this video. Its purely reactions from the recent Quakecon Seems interesting. Some of the reactions make me wonder what the people just saw and what the gameplay is/looks like. Really excited about this even if I didnt saw any actual gameplay yet. DOOM was one of my first FPS besides Duke Nukem 3d and Im really pumped for this. I really need a new computer to be prepared for this. But if its so bloody/gory like they say I have a strange feeling if this will be even released here in Germany. The only time I was so excited about a FPS was when I saw the footage from Rage at Gamescom 2010.

The only time I was so excited about a FPS was when I saw the footage from Rage at Gamescom 2010. The french video game site jeuxvideo.com reviewed the gameplay part of QuakeCon. They said the game was very very gore, the finish moves involving punching a hole through a monster's stomach, ripping one's head off and snatching a boss heart and shoving it in his throat. The player also cut off the arm of a corpse to open a door using fingerprint recognition and got his own arm ripped off by a boss which then beat him to death with it... As for the comments about "old school" FPS, apparently this doom is very much like the old ones, no ducking behind cover, etc. You just run in and kill stuff.

I know that isn't that much of a long time but still. Also, I wouldn't hold my breath until Alien Isolation is actually out because until then all I see is hype that is unwarranted and I won't buy into it.
