Tree of Savior (TOS) is spearheaded by Kim Hakkyu; who was famous for his previous work on Ragnarok Online and Granado Espada. Tree of Savior was also termed "Spiritual Successor of Ragnarok Online".
A lot of RO fans were disappointed by RO2, which I believe did not perform at all during its beta or its debut. When IMC Games released the first peek of "Project R1" (Tree of Savior now) in 2011, many RO fans were hooked.
So far TOS has just completed its Focus Group Testing by Koreans. Right now the developers are prepping for Closed Beta Testing. The game will be similar to Ragnarok Online with a lot of other features added into the game. The game will also use internally developed game engines used in Granado Espada.
The game designs are done by Maggi, who is a brilliant concept artist who worked for Granado Espada projects before. Now she's working on Tree of Savior. Sound is done by Sevin who used to be in SoundTeMP group, now started his own company, SFA.
According to the official blog, the devs are working full on to release the Closed Beta now. So we are all looking forward to the closed beta. I'll update more when we get more news.
I was looking if a thread already existed or if I have to create one. I gotta say the more I read about this, the more excited I am. The new combat systems looks fun, I just love the art style and as Ragnarok was my first game love I'm excited to see the creators developing a spiritual successor of it.
Been following this for a while on reddit but its still pretty far away from release I think
also there wont be localized versions from what I hear. I think the team is doing internal english localization so the game with be filled with engrish, for the international scene (if it ever comes to fruition).. I have my fingers crossed
I've been looking forward to this game since it was announced. I'm hyped about it since RO is probably me and my friends' most played game ever, and nothing has ever filled that void in our hearts since we stopped; nothing probably ever will (let's forget RO2 was ever a thing). I'm definitely willing to take a chance on this though.
For anybody unaware this game has been recently Greenlighted by Steam in under 10 hours. What this means for an english beta or a release for that matter is anybody's guess. Here's the Steam page Steam link Here also is the Reddit page for the game which might be a good source of up to date information:Reddit page
The author is one of the ragnarok's heads. I believe it's gonna rock the world! Here is another community I found mod edit:link removed Steam has also greenlighted the game, the international version will soon arrive!
I basically gave up this game for good when they stated no mouse compatibility was going to be added in an official dev blog some months back. About time they came to their senses, holy shit.
As someone who enjoyed RO1s fast gameplay and anime style i have some hope again TOS will be the proper sequel RO deserves.

Fast gameplay? Are you sure we played the same RO?
Anyway I too had hopes about this game. Unfortunately one of the biggest draws (for me) in RO was the almost sandbox like world, the complete freedom to explore was really nice.
This game will feature a more modern approach with a linear path which will guide you through the levels and the game.
I'm still going to try it though, hoping it won't be too bad!

Depending the on the server you could achieve between 10-20 ms delay on all actions. So PvP was insane with all the skills, pot and equip swap spam. In the battlegrounds it would be usually around a 30v30 and woe could well be up to 100+ vs 100+ battles with those delays.
And they are really going linear like RO2? Why implement 80+ classes and tons of bosses to only ruin it without a proper world. zzzz
but i hated farm for cards, i do remember getting a lvl99 Bard full Vit/Dex full equip +7.. pain in the ass to level up but had a ton of help from friends (that was BEFORE the next jobs came out lmao im old)
I am worried about the openness of the world as well, but they already got a ton of feedback and are basically trying to create a modern RO, so there could be lots of opportunities. RO's world wasn't nearly as big as it is now around release, so let's see!
Also, RO1 could be plenty fast especially if you had the right groups. MVP hunting with autocast sages/profs (now Sorcerer) was a ton fun. Hopefully a class like that exists in TOS as well!
Anyone else want to team up for beta? (EDIT: Provided we get in of course!)
I'm not sure how am I supposed to get a beta invite, considering all that had to be done was to log in the website, and I could only do that via facebook. Would it send an email to the email that I have registered for my facebook account?
