This new MMO developed by Pearl Abyss will be released in South Korea sometime next month, following a short open beta. The russian release, which is being localized since Feb 2014, is estimated for Q1 2015. The NA and EU releases are tbd, no info yet, Q_Q.
Some tldr points
•Game will be F2P, full details are not known yet though. •It will be an open world sandbox MMO. •Have you seen the graphics? Seriously. •It is really open, even dungeons are not instanced. •Players' favorite mechanics like castle sieges and housing are there. •The combat will be dynamic free aim, not autolock'd.(eg. more like Tera, less like WoW)
I'm so hyped for this game but if it hits europe in 2016 it might be a little bit too late for me to pick it up l0l. I don't think that I can stay "hyped up" and remember about a game for two whole years >.>

The Korean publisher are already translating the game into english. They just need to find a west publisher which shouldn't be too hard I guess. Meh, I'm already playing dota so I might as well start learning russian and give a go at their server, lol.
I'll see if I can work myself into the Korean server. A bunch of us age of wushu players are looking for literally any sandbox that isn't made by snailgames

Didn't they decide to publish the game in the west themselves?
edit: In February 2014 Pearl Abyss announced that a publishing deal had been secured for the Russian market and the process of localizing the client was in progress.[38] An English-language client is also in development and Daum, the same publisher for the Korean version, will open an office in the West and be the Western publisher.http://massively.joystiq.com/2014/07/24/black-deserts-na-and-eu-publisher-is-daum/[39][40]

From Wikipedia.
Oh right, daum will bring it overseas. That's awesome, no more xl games/trion shenanigans.
Btw, I read in their forums that the russian server will also have an english version of their own making. If that's true we could be playing this in a couple of months in the russian servers, xD.
But truth be told, so did ArcheAge. I've come to dislike the free-to-play model as a whole when it comes to MMOs. Sooner or later, it transitions into full-on pay-to-win. I very much prefer the subscription-based model.
I will likely check this out though, but I'm not buying into the hype. Hype sucks guys!
I am really looking forward to this game and have been followed it a bit but not kept up too much with it recently. I am pretty hyped about it and would really like to see how it works out KR and RS launches.
What terrifies me is that OP says F2P model is confirmed. I don't know of any f2p mmo games that haven't quickly degenerated into pay to win. I really hope they can avoid this but unless they do something extremely strict like cosmetic only cash shop (which I don't think would generate enough money for them if the game is f2p) I don't see how it won't be another disappointment.
I guess I'll remain hopefully optimistic and see what happens in these launches to try and get an idea of how the f2p system works there before it comes to the west. I have to say though from what I've seen the game looks very fun and promising and is THE game I've been looking forward to.
EDIT: I didn't want to discuss Archeage here but I see people already did so I will say a bit because I think it is relevant in that it is the primary reason I am scared about them making the game f2p. To me archeage had a similar concept, open world sandbox pvp focused game. Archeage started out amazing, it really was/is an amazing game, but I think it has been ruined by piss poor management/decisions. I think the f2p model has been the catalyst for most of the shit that has made what could have been the best thing we've had in years turn into something that just isnt that great. Most of the bad decisions/issues come down to making money.
I would much rather have a pay to play game where everyone is on equal terms and no one gets an advantage for paying money, especially in a game where the focus is PvP. It just seems that games have to cater to those that would rather just pay for an advantage than work for it in game.
Of course for the time being all we can do is speculate but like I said I will watch the eastern releases very closely to see how they handle making the game f2p.
I've been playing this game for the past week on the Korean Open Beta.
Its a great game with aspects of ArcheAge and Lineage 2 and several new things, or things I have not played. I almost feel like Jake Song created it.
Getting in to the game is not for those who can't figure shit out on their own. The game is in Korean, obviously, and getting an account can be difficult if you don't have patience. After getting installed, and starting to play, there will not be anyone who can hold your hand through the several complex UI features.
Take that for whatever it is worth.
I am having a great time playing a Sorc, I'm lvl 28 now and playing with some of the Reddit guys.
If interested, check out some guides on how to get set up. Read the guides several times, and read the troubleshooting before starting the process or you will not succeed.

Good luck guys,
Yea it looks kinda neat. Hope Russian Beta comes soon so we'll have less trouble accessing it :D
Has anybody tried a model of mmo where you pay for character looks as the way to make money? All armour of the same class looks the same unless you pay to change looks. Then when you release an addon people want to change the look of the new best armor, paying for the addon. Options for looks in char creation is lower than in the in game edit option with some NPC where you pay real money or trade for it with somebody that has bought it. Etc. That way there is no pay to win and it has a similar monetization scheme as Dota.
Making better or different looking things means people will want to upgrade from their already upgraded looks. You want people to have 50+ chars per account since that is 50 chars you have a chance of somebody upgrading looks for, removing the char limit that can be annoying.
You could also have chip in tournaments where you pay to enter and 90%+ of the money is paid back to the top placers. If enough interest something like this could pay for the entire game and be a liked feature.
Oh man, I can't understand the patience of people playing in a language they don't know at all. I'll wait for the russian english patch, whenever that comes, Q_Q.
The gameplay is amazing enough to make the Korean seem irrelevant. Sure, some quests require a bit of translation to complete, but most are pretty straight forward. Even the complex, multiple variant crafting system is easy.
I again recommend this game to everyone who wants a great free to play MMO. Its easy to get set up, easy to install, and easy to figure out. However, I do not recommend this game to anyone who can not figure things out on their own, has no patience to try different things, or plain idiots that need things handed to them, already cut up in to small bite size pieces.
