Yeah I'm talking about the var next to the FPS, sorry for not being clear on that. And yeah, my rig do struggle to keep 200+ fps at a 1920x1080 res but it does seem to hit a stable 150+ when I play in 1280x960 black bars, just forgot to check the Var while playing at the black bars res to see if it's similar to the 1920x1080 res.
Maybe it's just because of the fact that I'm really inconsistent at cs, but I could swear that shots register better when I put my fps_max at 200+ even though that my monitor don't do more than 60hz and that my var is higher than what it could be if my fps_max is lower.
Anyway, thanks a lot for clearing that up for me NihiL, really appreciated. I'll continue to do some testing to see what would be the best setup for me.

How do I get CS:GO events to show up in the right sidebar/ON AIR section? I had them there before, but now they are gone (can't see faceit which is live now, can't see any upcoming CS:GO events). I haven't changed any settings and looked around in settings and CS:GO is enabled and "Other games" is enabled everywhere.

I have the same question/issue as zheryn

Event might not have been submitted.

There's not a single cs:go even submitted for the rest of the month?

We currently do not add every CS:GO event to the calendar, just the ones featuring top teams.
For many of the events (mainly ESEA/CEVO) we don't add them until hours before since scheduling for these leagues is really unorganized and no one knows what's happening till hours before.
We'll be adding Katowice to the calendar soon, but for most tournaments we haven't been adding them until we get the proper LR going for them, and that usually isn't until a day or two before unfortunately. I think we did miss Starseries today though, so apologies for that.
Anyone can submit events, so if you see an event that should be on the calendar but isn't, you can go ahead and submit it yourself.

It's a good idea to turn 90 degrees away from the flash grenade if you see if flying across the screen so that you can avoid being blind

Any tips for reviewing overwatch cases? The obvious ones are obviously not the problem. How do you detect more subtle hackers? Sometimes I can't tell if someone is just on a heater.
|
Some cheaters are trying to hide themselves from overwatches, its easy to spot aimlock hackers but wallhackers are very hard to detect. My friend is an overwatch but he always invites me and couple of my friends whom we trust, we watch together, thats my strongest tip.
And you can spot them most of the time before a combat engagement, where they try to position themselves with quick stares to the walls.
|
Perhaps they are turning their heads to listen, or setting themseves up to peek at corners? I wouldn't call that wallhacking unless they are zoomed in when they are staring at the wall momentarily.
|
On the topic of overwatch and hackers, can I report someone after a match? I just watched a replay from last night and I'm pretty sure one player on the opposing team(maybe another one too) was wallhacking.
|
Unfortunately not. You can report them on their steam profile but this does not generate an Overwatch case and will not likely result in anything.
|
The biggest cue to detect wallhacks is when they skip corners that should be checked before they peek someone

At which value should I consider rebuying kevlar (particularly when money is not floating)? At the moment I rebuy it when it's dropping under 90.

around 40 (since around 40 is the max kevlar damage you can take before you're dead already). Some people like to be slick and buy when it reaches to below 30 but that can be risky if you lose all your armour during a round.
|
From one of those csgo wikis.
As long as the armor value is not zero, the exact armor value does not matter and damage will always be reduced. I.e. having higher armor value does not give better protection unless the value is reduced to zero.
|
Yrr, it means that the amount reduced is the same per bullet regardless of the actual numerical value of the armour, but having more armour means that you can reduce more potential damage. Having 20 armour means you can only reduce 20 damage, after that, you take full damage. Against certain pistols and shotguns it is possible to lose almost 100 armour before dying.
Personally, if I have enough cash floating around I renew it around 60 because things like HE grenades can take a lot of armour off.
