How have we not gotten a thread for this yet? Bloodborne is a spiritual successor to the Souls series.
Bringing back director Hidetaka Miyazaki, Director of Demon/dark souls a new Victorian Gothic action RPG game which looks to focus more on Fast action game play, (NO shields) and Blood as money/xp instead of Souls. The game is being released in March and I am not 100% sure if it will have multiplier yet or what that will even look like.
As of right now it's a PS4 only title so Kind of a bummer for all us PC gamers who have experienced the souls games that way. I love this series so much I may just have to go ahead and purchase the system...
When this and MGS5 comes out it's finally time for me to join next-gen. Been a big fan since Demon's Souls, loved Dark Souls, DS2 was pretty meh but still fun
Dark souls 2 wasn't directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, which I feel is one reason Dark Souls 2 feels so different. I am glad to see his return on this new Game. I just got to get that next gen, which I am not looking forward to at all.
atleast the next gen consoles are cheap. Which is the reason why they are so bad. But hey competition can only lead to better products ? But the few ps exclusives might force me to buy one as well *sigh*. Especially when the jrpgs will stop coming out for ps3.

MGS5 comes on PC, don't buy a PS4 to play Bloodborne or that shit will never stop...
Even though first Dark Souls is my favorite game and Bloodborne videos look really promising there is no way I'm gonna buy PS4 just for 1 game. That platform exclsive bullshit is really annoying.
I'd play this if I didn't have to shell out an extra €400 just to buy a PS4. I'm also a bit worried by the blatant asset recycling, but that can't be helped I guess.
It's pretty sad that Bloodborne is basically the first "next-gen" game that might actually be worth buying. Two years in and I haven't seen a single compelling reason to buy either a PS4 or Xbox One. All games have either been sequels or remakes, or otherwise completely unremarkable. Where's the Gears of War or Uncharted of this generation?
I won't defend console-exclusives because I think they are bullshit, but I am excited that my PS4 will get some love, finally. I've been pretty much using it exclusively for Netflix and a handful of the PSPlus games that have been really good. The only PS4 exclusive game I have put any time into thus far has been Infamous, which I thought was a pretty good open world game, at least compared to a lot of the shit that comes out nowadays.
But Bloodborne...so hype. Already planning to take that day off of work to binge the hell out of this game. I'm just sad that GTAV and Pillars of Eternity come out the same week, but at least I can wait for some information about the quality of those games before I pull the trigger on them.
Now I just need to find a way to force myself to play Dark Souls so I can finish it before 3/24. I (ashamedly) played through DS2 but have never managed to get hooked on DS1 the same way.
This will be a Devil May Cry with Dark Souls Combat System, but no RPG-Mechanics. It will be a huge disappointment if you expect a Dark Souls Game. Just don't pre-order it or even buy a Peasantbox for it. Wait until Release and look up Reviews.

Be careful your bias is showing. You can have a discussion without calling it a "Peasantbox" and trying to make people feel inferior for owning a console.
Do you have some sort of hands-on first look at the game we don't know about? I agree it is smart to wait for reviews before making a purchase, because no one knows anything about the game. Given that fact, how are you so sure it will be disappointing?
Not to mention the fact that the best thing about Dark Souls is the combat and the atmosphere (obviously, IMO). They were already pretty weak RPG's, I see nothing wrong with making a title here and there that is a little more action-y as long as that isn't the permanent direction of the franchise.

Its From Software and Hidetaka Miyazaki
it has 0% chance of being bad and about 99% of being good
the last 1% of being a masterpiece
And like he said, the Soul series has never been big on the RPG department, it has always been a much more action oriented game than RPG

I've watched that "first 19 minutes" video on IGN, and Bloodborne struck me as a more aggressive version of Dark Souls. The first boss is actually very reminiscent of Manus. Fog gates are still there as well, and there is a bonfire mechanic. There's no doubt on my mind that this game will be incredible, but it's clear that From Software is not taking much risks here. It's the fourth iteration in a "spiritual series", so to speak (Dark Souls is a spiritual successor to Demon Souls and Bloodborne is clearly a spiritual successor to Dark Souls), so you can expect gameplay mechanics and elements to be similar to some extent at least.
At least From is not hyping it up on difficulty alone, which they did on Dark Souls 2 (which I actally found to be easier than its predecessor).
I also don't trust reviews and the gaming press in general anymore nowadays. It's getting hard to know what's genuinely good and what is hyped up for marketing reasons.

At least that what i thought about that
That's my thinking too when people talk about the games this way. As someone who got started on DS2, I'm interested to go back to DS1 and compare the difficulties. I have a strong suspicion that some of the difficulty inherent to these games carries over, i.e. once you learn how to play a From Software game, you've learned to play them all and it becomes a matter of transferring that knowledge to different enemies, areas, and bosses.

Yep, you have to adapt a few things and you are good to go
Its a little shame because you dont get that same feeling of being powerless, disoriented and confused again, you already know a few things you didnt knew the first time
i havent played DS2 in quite some time so i hope im a little rusty to get that feeling back

Honestly both games are challenging, but you should definitely play DS1, it's a great game.
On topic, yes I would love to play Bloodborne, but the chances of a PC version happening from what I have heard so far is incredibly low. Will have to wait a bit longer for my next Dark Souls type hit.

Most of the skill carries over, in fact. From is not that creative when it comes to creating enemy attack patterns, both for bosses and normal enemies alike.
Dark Souls 1 is a bit more difficult because frankly, the combat system is less polished than in Dark Souls 2.
I like DS2 more because of the refined combat and stuff, but Dark Souls 1 hsd a much more compelling world and feels more conected, and the lore makes more sense... I guess because the DS1 lore wasnt exactly easy to understand either
