There are definitely advantages to abusing scaling though, i've seen other posts showing double digit % effective HP gains from equipping worse gear with all of the numbers. --- Interesting stat on http://bestkeystone.com/ 72% of the registered runs this week are horde, 28% alliance

The whole Horde/Alliance thing is so outdated too. They need to get rid of factions and unify the community. And while they're at it, regions are stupid too. It's 2018 and an NA player can't play with an EU player? If anyone takes a step back and thinks about it for a second, it's a joke.

Something like a "relog to NA" button would be cool for playing outside of typical timezones and work schedules. I'm going! :D

That is not to say it couldn't be done, but WoW's architecture wasn't designed for it. But they could atleast offer an account migration from one region to another. And yes the Horde/Alliance divide can die in a fire. A little naive part of me hopes that will be the ending of BfA. The faction war to end the war for good.

The whole idea of not being able to group with my friend because they play a different faction is so dumb. And it feels like the only thing we actually get out of the whole factions concept is outdoor PVP. Which already sucks for a variety of reasons. So we are prevented from grouping with friends for a feature a very small percentage of people enjoy.

the amount of people who really are invested in stuff like faction openworld PvP are as you say, very low

You can already run sims against the 8.1 changes (Druid discord provided override strings to use in Advanced Sims). Already ran some against myself for Single Target and the difference is massive: Current Simmed Stat Weights: Haste - 2.07 Intellect - 1.80 Critical Strike - 1.75 Versatility - 1.74 Mastery - 1.38 8.1 Simmed Stat Weights: Haste - 2.16 Mastery - 2.10 Intellect - 1.88 Critical Strike - 1.82 Versatility - 1.82 Looking good for Bdruid. Havoc's mastery is worse in both design and tuning at the moment, so i'm expecting a similar fix in the scope of 8.1.

In the end it just seems to go against the design Blizz has strived for in the game, possibly part of the philosophy the have for the way the World of Warcraft operates in their mind as well. There is some flavor in the factions that I don't think they want to stray from, a bunch of history that backs it all up as well. I really doubt there is any chance they will be doing away with factions in the near future. However, I personally have found the conflict between the factions a bit contrived at times. Like I can see how the long history plays it's part (especially for the "ageless" characters) but the fact that we have united for common goals more than a handful of times then come up with new reasons to go to war feels a bit tired. Especially when the reasons are so weird like what we have for BFA "Oh, new powerful resource, lets go to war over it!" (despite it feeling stupidly abundant from a gameplay perspective, and despite us having just united for like a whole expansion fighting the legion). Personally I think it would be interesting if Blizz went ahead and got rid of the Horde/Alliance divide for a time. Give us a period of peace, maybe with some small skirmishes of small groups being resistant to the idea of working with the race they've been fighting their whole lives or w/e. Then if Blizz feels there NEEDS to be some sort of divide they could create some kind of new faction divide and allow players to make their own choice as to which side they support. It would be more complicated from a technical pov probably, but probably not by that much. Idk, I guess there would be some weird issues with the experience new players get. Old content would feel extra disconnected, perhaps some story points would feel less impactful. I just think there are more interesting ways to have an "Us vs them" experience past what is basically the glorified Race war that is Horde vs Alliance.

Back in the day, the sides are simply irreconciliable. Able to unite in desperation, side, but with all truces uneasy and the persistence of “battlegrounds” from back in the days only one side could rule Alterac Valley. They should go back to mini stories of unscrupulous goblins burning down forests vs the druids. Mutual distrust built over decades (centuries) and how that works out is storytelling.

Yeah it's just sad because Blizzard used to be quality but they've maneuvered themselves into a corner with WoW. It's so outdated but it's still popular and makes a lot of money so here we are.

They just need to make a new allied race that has clearly the best pvp racial, and get all the streamers etc to then switch and the masses will follow. If you want to be cynical.

Is it ever good when secondaries are worth more than main stat? Seems like that'd be annoying for gearing. Secondaries will be worth more point for point than main stat for most of the expansion due to the increased main stat scaling. As soon as season 2 starts it'll be commonplace until 9.0. We have a lot more mainstat now, so it being worth less per point isn't that big of a deal because you're gaining way more points of it per ilvl. For actual numbers, these gloves at 360 have 18.9% more agil than secondary stats. At item level 410 they have 54% more agil than secondaries. Secondary value could increase by 1.295x compared to agil and yet the relative DPS that you got from agil vs secondaries would not change at all. I'm not sure how the math will work out long term but in the short term (couple of raids) it'll balance itself out well. ----- In this particular case their stat scaling is definitely on the higher side. My strongest stat is Versatility because everything else sucks for one reason or other, they have haste and mastery both standing clearly above Vers on both ST and AOE. They buff boomkin mastery by >50% from 1.38 to 2.1 when havoc mastery is 1.28 this whole time, surely they'd buff and rework it too at the same time. They had some of the same problems. The kind of change that i'm expecting, well, hoping for.. is making it affect all damage instead of just chaos, but lowering the damage increase per mastery point by say 35%. That'd be a net buff of +49.4% on ST and 26.5% on sustained 5 target, that's pretty much bang on what it needs. It would still offer movement speed so it's less of a boring shit stat than versatility.

Right now, after all the advice from everyone here, I feel like I am doing a lot better. But it also feels like I just get absolutely clobbered sometimes. Are DHs hard to heal? We ain't blood DKs, sure, but maybe that is why some healers easily heal me while others seem totally lost and unable to keep me alive. I'm at 367 ilvl in my tank gear, so I have a hard time thinking I am just too squishy for a +5...

Could be bad, could be undergeared, could be less CC or dps standing in fire a lot. HPS is a far from perfect metric but its not horrible in 5 mans because there is only 1 healer so its not someone else looking good by sniping them. If people are (close to) dying a lot and the healer has less HPS then what your used to seeing its probably something to do with the healer. Mana I don't think is nearly as useful. A healer not dropping below 90% is more a sign that your overgearing the instance then of a great healer.
