Stage 3 of FACEIT's 2015 League is dwindling down to the finals where it will take place at Dreamhack Winter! 8 teams have qualified through a grueling season to make it to the LAN finals. with the recent roster changes and rumors circulating about roster changes, this is a make or break tournament for all the teams involved, especially when there is $200,000 up for grabs
Team SoloMid Team EnVyUs Virtus.pro Ninjas in Pyjamas
Fnatic Luminosity Gaming Team Liquid Legacy eSports
Teams have been placed into 2 groups where they will play Bo1 GSL style groups. the top 2 teams get seeded into the playoffs which will be best of 3 matches all the way.
Damn, that group will be hard for Liquid. Beating VP with Snax, not at home, will be another story... And I really don't see them having what it takes to beat TSM :x

just putting it out there already.
Another 2v4 with the bomb planted, liquid post plan position are so bad, adren should be kicked
Liquid 2 - 0 VP in San Jose, Snax wasn't there. Here's a reminder why you need to be careful when interpreting this result. He's doing an awesome job in this second half.
The rounds have been on the edge, it is that slight bit of clutch or team play which is lacking for NiP unfortunately. Fnatic also playing out of this world honestly, almost completely flawless.
The first place price is $100k, this shouldn't be a 'we dont care tournament''. Its also the first map into a bo3 so its still possible that nV beat the shit out of LG on the other picks.

I never pegged nV as a Overpass team, Mirage is definitely one of their stronger maps if I recall correctly(too lazy to find stats) but they have one of the nastiest T sides on that map.

Mirage is their weakest map after Overpass. They are just ok at it. But better than LG for sure.

Is luminosity better at overpass than mirage though? the way i got it, if theres 1 map you can ban vs luminosity it's probably mirage, esp if it's a bad map for envy

Dono, I guess its just a confidence thing right ? Luminosity likes set plays. If your a team like Envy and not confident in Overpass especially against a team that relies on set plays as LG does it can fall apart quickly.
Honestly I dont think they just figured they would be ok with it. The way they were playing they wouldve lost Overpass too.
LG hasnt really played that many TOP teams to know how good their Overpass is. But really what won the map for LG was the no respect mid takes and pushes up Underpass on CT side.
I didnt say Mirage is a bad map for them, I said its their weakest. The only Map they have a losing record is Overpass. The rest are all very healthy win percentages. They just dont like Overpass period regardless of how good or bad their opponent is

not saying it's their best map but they just have a strong map pool: great (but declining) dust and inferno, beast cache and cbble, can go plow mode on mirage/train but i would rate mirage quite a bit higher

Dust hasn't been really working out for EnVy... They don't play it much and they have mixed results on it...
i wonder if quick scoping with the awp will get nerfed at some point, it is kinda bullshit how much better its an awp at any situation for a top awp player

KennyS does it all the time too
Naa, stuff like that isnt mainstream enough to be broken. Besides then you never get to see stuff like what Fallen did. If you nerf quickscoping the way it is now the awp kinda dies in alot of maps.

Well i don't watch the real betting sites, what where the odds there? But looking at csgolounge only, the odds created there are absolutely nuts most of the time. These kind of bets are pretty much always worth it to bet on the underdog. Especially in bo1

Yeah but its not just that, tbh its really wierd in Mirage for example the fact that LG took underpass and Mid as CT soooo easily. Nv contested it once, got mauled (which was gonna happen because LG committed hard and caught them offguard) It literally cut the map in half for Envy to work with. A team like TSM would crush that if they had a look at it once or twice.

They shouldnt have given it up so easily imo.
And nV does it also, they tend to be really agressive trying to get map control to hold angles, they did it a lot in the major also
God damn it Thorin, stop acting like a douchebag. Trashtalk EnVy all you want, they've proven you wrong time and time again.

Smart betters would probably skip these or have such a large inventory that they honetsly don't care if they lose 1 maxbet once in a while
but bear in mind that there are a lot of kids who are a lot less responsible and just see free skins and bet less rationally.
Granted I think 5% is ridicilous even for a Bo3. LG is a solid tier 2 team and nV a solid tier 1 team. 80-20 sure or even 85-15 but 95-5 is absolutely bonkers.

I still think he's wrong by saying Happy plays for himself and just calls and creates situation for him to shine in. Happy does what he thinks is right, and whether that leaves him topfragging or not, being the bait or asking for someone to be the bait, he'll do what he thinks will lead the team to victory.
Then it's true I shouldn't be provoked by that, but that's just unbearable to see him saying bullshit like he has a grudge against Happy especially, and then being believed when he says they play like in pug.

He didnt say that actually, Richard Lewis brought it up and he just agreed with him (and then proceeded to add his 20 cents instead of 2)
To be fair Happy does play a style that ends up with him farming alot of low impact frags and depends on his team to get picks and then he plays cleanup. Not saying thats always the case but thats what his role is. If it doesnt work it looks baity, if it does its genius. That was the take away for me anyway.

Yes, I feel like answering to your nonsense.
Liquid is losing 8-1 to VP on overpass. Yesterday Liquid lost 16-0 to TSM. I feel like overpass isn't Liquid's best map anymore.
Liquid just got anti ecoed. Seems like VP anti strated Liquid. This is why I said it doesn't make any sense for Liquid to pick overpass after what happened yesterday.
Adren didn't adapt to VP being so aggressive. There was so many times where snax would push to get info and no one stopped him. He got behind enemy lines a couple of times, too.
Anyone else think Adren is the weakest link on Liquid? I feel like if we can get someone like koosta who is good at awping Liquid could be so much better.
Seangares is way better than Adren, but Cloud9 still departed with their igl. Adren should have been gone from Liquid a long time ago. Dunno why he is still on this roster. Someone needs to take leadership and make the hard decisions.
I think we should hold Team Liquid to a high standard. We should expect results from such a prestigious and respected organization like TL. TL is one of the top teams in exports and we should have players who hold to that scrutiny.
We should not give the CSGO team a pass because they are from NA. If they are not performing then changes should be made.
Can you honestly imagine this current Liquid squad winning a championship at LAN? I think we need to make changes if we want to compete and win a major.

I guarantee you that no NA team going to win a championship anytime soon. So you shouldnt be worried about this.
No NA team has a chance of winning a major and there isn't much opportunity for Liquid to pick up EU talent. Perhaps they can pick up the current TSM lineup considering the money issues I hear.

TSM is actually richer organisation than Liquid, they are probably the richest in west along with C9.
So other than beating an obviously unprepared and indifferent vp at san jose a week ago, what ahs this liquid team done lately? I think these players literally believe the fake hype that surrounds them.

Liquid has never come close to winning an offline championship. Cloud9 has at least sniffed a couple victories. It is possible to put together a squad that can fight against EU teams like cloud9. This current TL squad doesn't stand a chance imom

Well if you count the fact that EG is owned by goodgame agency and goodgame agency got bought by twitch and twitch got bought by amazon I think its safe to say that "EG" probably has the most resources by a large amount.

im certain that both TSM and C9 are more popular than EG in the last few years. If you look at the sponsor lists of both teams, you can see both teams can cope with EG when it comes to money.

Forest is more than good enough to awp, not to mention NIP went years winning without having a dedicated awper. Harnessing their aim away from pug strats and into executes would be incredible to watch. Cut bot allu, I'd rather have xizt and his p250 on eco rounds.
sign pronax and schneider and then get rid of bot allu and friberg. friberg played well in last major but Xizt going to be so much better when he dont have to shotcall.

VP is a much much better team than NiP and would've beaten LG too to be honest. VP have 1 bad map, which is funnily enough Dust2 but they are super solid on all the others. NiP have so many bad maps they have to keep letting cobble through.

Yeah I dont think thats true anymore either. The only thing that changes for LG is how high their ceiling is (remember this team has literally not practiced at all), They adapt really well compared to alot of top teams.
Its not like LG totally changed their playstyle, they are still playing the same way as the old LG. They just got better players.

You can't really prepare for a lineup that was formed 5 days ago.

Yeah, most teams do tend to perform above their level after a roster change. We saw this with NiP when they got Makelele and then with Allu, also C9 is a good example. But LG had no prep times themselves, they just beat NiP and nV on raw skill with strats teams should already be familiar with. nV perhaps not 100%, but NIP were outclassed. This LG could contend on majors with more prep.
On November 28 2015 08:45 HugoBallzak wrote: Who cares what allu can or cant do? NIP has done pretty much nothing as a team since he joined. Maikelele was a way more impactful player for them.
Maikelele got as much result as Allu did. Major final.
As if stats showing who was good or bad in series. Then again the people who new to CS usually judge player by looking at his stats rather than looking his gameplay, or how useful he was. So i cant blame people for that. allu was clearly better than gtr and f0rest in this series because stats say so

No, but if you're top fragging in your team by quite a clear margin it will be some type of indication regardless. There might be a lot of low impact frags, but you can't be possibly thinking that they were somehow the majority. He has shown very respectable results as an AWPer consistently. It's not like a couple of clutches will automatically make up for inconsistent and suboptimal performance either and suddenly transform your performance, you still need some type of consistency. I honestly don't know what you're basing your so called observations on, it seems like some stupid confirmation bias at best or something.
Now I'm not saying there's no need for changes, something obviously needs to happen however it doesn't need to be roster changes necessarily.

Well it was a common complain for top Pro's once upon a time so I misunderstood you referencing that. If your going to make a supposedly clever quip with vague meaning. You have to be open to the possibility of people misunderstanding so there, now you know.

however, LG already far exceeded expectations and put their mark on the scene with the new lineup. finishing top 4 is excellent.

Yeah taking Thorin's snarkiness to heart kinda lame. Honestly I kinda like it. He's honest about what he thinks and if hes wrong he's wrong.
What Thorin says and what casters and analysts say are totally different things.
It wasn't thorin tough. Thoring said it would be a 2-0 but he at least explained why (roster change, TSM watched LG play with the new roster already, etc)
Its the guy on the right
dunno who said about the "can't win based on the maps"
anyway, the caster have been biased all the games against LG, but I guess it makes sense because they are EU casters and LG only played EU teams, so I guess I have to accept it and move on. The BR casters are biased towards LG as well.
Lets just enjoy the finals and hope for good games

What you are calling bias isnt really bias, but ok. I dont think you can call it bias when casters arent handing the match to LG over 2 good series. Thats not how bias works,
LG have apparently won more Bo3's against top teams this weekend, than they have all 2015. Not hard for casters to keep putting them as the underdogs every matchup and thinking they'll get 2-0'd or 2-1'd.

Hes probably the weakest fragger, they use him as bait alot and hes a support player but hes clutch. Wins big rounds.
Honestly, these strategies and plays that LG are using are not that good. They're super risky, and can be punished by disciplined thought out T sides, much like a Navi or VP style.
The thing is, this style is tremendously effective when your opponents are greedy on the T side, or if your aim is spot on. BOTH of those things are happening. Fnatic not playing smart, LG never missing shots.
I would love love love love it if Luminosity win this. 0-16 all the way to winning. What an insane story that would be. That's shit you tell to your kids.
just goes to show how huge crutches Boltz and Steel were.
Oh yeah FNX won dreamhack with a shitty team before with guys like Btt Ton and Cky iirc.
TBH they werent very good and didnt do shit after that.
NOW you realise :p
yeah, i didn't watch cs 1.6 and only started to watch csgo on cologne this year. Nobody here talks about fnx, they only talk about cogu, and thats surprising to me he wasn't on this mibr team

Cogu retired to try play football in Qatar. His uncle was a coach there,
my fav thing about csgo majors is the twitch chat.
Watching the "oink" spam every time they show JW's face, the "BOT/GOD ALLU" spam every time allu is involved in a kill, or the "VAC" anytime flusha does anything.
Seriously the minutes of VAC's from flusha is almost as entertaining as the match itself.
I don't know how olof got there but goddamn that was beatiful, after he got the first kill, he sees the awp poking from the wall so he pushes forward a bit while firing and immediately falls back a little to not get no scoped. Very slick

he jumped up from the haycart
It was more of a "i dont know how he got so close without being noticed"

Now they just need to not fall off after this and keep it up, maybe they'll be major champions one day.
yea, being at the top is good, but staying at the top is the real achievement and the hardest task
But Im really happy for LG, they played amazingly this tournament and Im sure they will keep improving. They will probably win a 250k tourney next year
Will be interesting to see whether this is a C9 style honeymoon run or if it is going to result in a long term good team that can compete and beat other teams.
