Battlefleet Gothic: Armada is the RTS videogame adaptation of Games Workshop’s classic tabletop game, pitting the Chaos, Imperium, Eldar, and Orks against each other in visceral space-battles.
Developed with Unreal Engine 4, Battlefleet Gothic: Armada offers deep management of every ship composing the player’s fleet, both during and between battles. From the fastest frigates to the gigantic, miles-long battleships, the player will customize all aspects of his ships: weaponry, defense and support sub-systems, but also crew, captains, and more... each customization affecting the very performances of the ship and the special abilities available during battle. From battle to battle, the admirals and crew of surviving ships will gain experience and promotions, improving the battle-readiness of the ships for future, bigger and more dangerous battles.
Additionally an extensive multiplayer mode with persistent fleets where up to 4 players can battle simultaneously, Battlefleet Gothic: Armada also features a big story campaign, taking place during the 12th Black Crusade and putting players in the middle of the Gothic War that raged between the Imperium and Abaddon the Despoiler. Players will be at the centre of every fight, commanding fleets of gigantic ships as the Chaos unleash a sequential chain of surprise attacks on Imperium worlds – the start of 20 years of warring in the sector.
they still have plans to add more armies after the main release, since its the entire BFG campaign, where Failbaddon's Planet Killer and his Blackstone Fortresses almost wiped out the gothic sector, some people are still worried about the necrons since back then, they were OP enough to wipe your army
the game itself has a good gameplay, its like a perfect mix of homeworld, the homebrew game of chapter master, and Nexus: the Jupiter incident, you have to work hard to build your fleets and make sure that failbaddon Doesn't win the 12th black crusade, if you played the tabletop, you know what happens next
the game will be released in april 21st
it would come out today, but focus and the community are helping, polishing the game and making sure that it has no errors on the launch date
Beta access is up for those who buy it now, the multiplayer and the ship customizations are fun!
enjoy TL!
Fun Fact: The inquisitor is voice by warcraft 3 paladin voice actor, and some orks and clearly abaddon are voiced once again by Patrick Seitz(AKA Garrosh and the Lich King's voice), since his last job was in dawn of war 2, voicing him and a certain Ork Kaptin
Watched a few of my favorite streamers playing this.
It looks fun in principle but I wonder if they can keep it interesting for an extended period of time, If they are good with content updating I might go for it

i was looking at the forum, it will be moddable, since its UE4
an Starcraft Fleet mod or empire at war remake mod its now possible
I bought this and played the short tutorial campaign that is in the beta and a few multiplayer games. Fun game if a bit clunky in turn rates for Orcs. The races really felt like they handled in different ways even if they have mostly the same weapons and abilities. No time to play more this week though, so only initial impression.
Was possible to edit the points needed to buy ships and upgrades for them in the multiplayer mode. It doesn't really effect anything though since it doesn't modify how many points you can bring into combat, just removes the question on what to upgrade now and what later on. Assume things like level up on ships and so on are also possible if people want to cheat.

It seems to be based on holding a star cluster against the other races while completing the story line. Kind of similar to DoW 2 outside of combat (if I remember it correctly). Where you select where you fight, run out of energy and do a new turn.
i hope they add necrons eventually they had the coolest ship lore!!! also, tau. but necrons can teleport and oneshot ships if i remember correctly.. also, tyranids!
they will add soon, now everyone hopes that necrons will be balanced, far as i remember the Necron world engine/Super Death Star incident happened during the 12th Black Crusade
Played a bit of the campaign and I dislike that you can't complete all actions. 2 actions per turn, 5 actions needed that turn. Overall it feels pretty good, I'm not a great fan of the combat system but it is fun for brief periods.
A lot of different objectives for battles. Data recovery has to be the one I like the least due to it being on a timer and if you are unlucky it just goes pear shaped. You take it from them, they take it back, they start warp and you fail to stop it for example.
Edit, finished the campaign. The ending cinematics gave me goosebumps. Overall an interesting campaign though I don't really like the combat enough to want to replay the other paths. (Ended up cheating to get through the combat after a while. Isn't that unusual for me though, do it in a lot of games to get to the end. Might have been more entertaining on higher difficulty I guess.)
Edit 2. It is possible to complete all actions depending on choices in the campaign. It just isn't until turn 30 or so.
The current biggest problem with MP I see is that 2v2 is 300 points per player and no ally chat. Which is one battleship and one escort ship (basically a weak ship that can't be customised or meaningfully upgraded). You could do weaker ships and often win with them but that isn't as epic.
Some modes are also really unbalanced in MP, Eldar being the problem. If all an Eldar player needs to do is run out a timer there is nothing you can do to stop them since the maps are HUGE and they are faster than you. So a mission that requires a person to teleport out with data after 3 minutes is meaningless if the player is decent. Or a mission to assassinate a ship (luckily never vs an eldar in this mode).
>_> heroic campaign, get a mission where I gotta help + Show Spoiler +
the eldar, as I sided with them
and 30 seconds into the mission, all of them are already dead, due to map being full of asteroid fields and mission ends. GG, my battlecruisers almost managed to reach the first enemy ship.

eldar ships are supposed to be faster, there's a guide with tips already against all races

orks run on ramming tactics for smaller ships
I have no problem with eldar being faster as long as the objective means they have to fight at all since it is possible to lock them down then. If the objective means they can start the map running away and end it running away there is no tactic that works.
