Yeah I am playing it. I am loving this battlefield a lot more than the previous ones (didn't play hardline).
Operations mode is one of my favorite game modes, tied with conquest for me. Just so intense and fun, something I hope future battlefields keep (and improve to be better).
Map designs are great, something I feel BF3/BF4 suffered on in terms of quality. I liked some of the maps a lot, but I found that I disliked most of the maps, so far for BF1 most of the maps seem crafted nicely. Also it's nice to have a ton of destruction back, the whole map can be pretty obliterated by the end of a round which is something I have missed since Bad Company 2.
NarW, I would if I were from EU, I do need some friends to play with also .

Well, about maps i hate Suez and don't exactly enjoy Mount Grappa, rest is fine from what i've seen. Not a big fan of behemoth thingy, hoping to see priv servers where it's turned off to be honest. Agree about operations, it's great addition, so intense.
I just wish there was a bit less sniping in this game. Cause, snipers, snipers everywhere.

The only map I hate is Suez (desert map right?), but I like the rest. That desert map though is just yuck every time I see it I leave the server.

Didnt see this thread. I have 10 hours testing, i have played around 4-5hours now. I dont know if its worth to buy it. Since you die so fast and shit. The feeling of shooting is nice though, but i dont know.
Seems like Cod is more for me, more pace and shit, more reaction time aswell. Or perhaps titanfall 2. I didnt know titanfall 1 was so fast paced so i am interested there but i have no idea if you die super fast there as well as in this game and cod.
I like halo because you dont die so fast, it feels more like a duel against someone. To bad they dont release halo 5 for windows 10. Will probably play those full 10hours atleast.
I bought gears of war 4 but the MP is total garbage, its all about getting close with shotgun.

Had a lot of fun playing it this weekend. First session was rough, i hade like 5-20 each round and just kept dying. But the next session was a lot better. Was a long time since I played a new shooter and I really need to learn a playstyle I am not used to.

Short review: This battlefield is amazing.
Over the weekend I've played about 30 hours of battlefield 1 with friends. There were so many cool moments, the game looks great, and skill is definetly not gone out the window. Squads are very important for spawning in the front and keeping together. It was also cool to see how the skill evolved. We died quite a lot at the start, but then we started taking things more slow and were able to consistently rank at the top each game. Yes, it can be played without trench warfare but really, it is so much more effective when you do. Defending the points at the enemies base when you capture then, try to hold with a team while communicating, it is so much more in depth than it was in the older battlefield, mostly because all the classes have a very specific skillset, and the maps are overall quite well designed.
A lot of people are playing sniper, but it is the most useless class really. It brings no support to the rest of the team, whereas the others bring anti-tank, health/revives and ammo/artillery. When you play as a team capping and defending points, the sniper really is not that great. This is also due to the medic having weapons that are also accurate at longer ranges, so you dont need a sniper to get work done on a distance.
I myself was kind of finished with the ultimate more power warshooters such as BF4 or Blops3 and now inifite warfare. This return to an older age, where machinery was more rudimentary is incredible. The time to kill has gone down drastically due to this, which is amazing and generates much more tension and tactical depth for repositioning. Tanks are strong, and while they may not be completely authentic, they are definetly a LOT worse than in BF3 or BF4. All tanks, except the light tank (which is easily destroyed/low bullet count) are vehicles that should be manned by more than 1, usually at least 3 people for decent effectiveness. This creates such a much cooler teamplay in the tank, and with other footsoldiers in your squad protecting the tank from the anti-tank class. You can only shoot out in front if you drive the tank in most cases for example.
I haven't had a blast like this with a battlefield in a long time. I liked BF3, I liked BF4 more, but I love BF1. It has some small bugs, but nothing that drastically interferes with the gameplay. It creates epic moments like going on a sniperhunt in the nearby mountains so the rest of the squad in the village is safe, while mortars and people on horseback try to shoot you down. If I could play this game in VR, im not sure I would be doing anything else.
Would recommend 10/10.

Sniper brings flare.. So next time before you flame my class.. Be more humble... Jk^^
I played this game a bit more and it was quite enjoyable actually. I feel like skill isnt gone out the window either.. Hitting sniper shots isnt easy actually for example. But damn i went to bed and didnt close the program so now my playtesting is drained... :S

yeah, I really like this BF a lot. Operations is cool. Sniper is useless as it almost always in in BF. Really like that it's destrictive enviroments like bfbc2 again

Oh man I feel you there. For the first couple of hours I was going 15/15, 15/12, etc, although I would still be top 10 on my team because of flag captures/healing/revives. Now I am going 30/12 and getting back to top 3 all the time .

I've discovered I'm terrible at shooters after three years of playing only dota.
Operations seems like it would be great, but I've only once found a game with more than like 5 people in it because there's no server browser. Not sure what the trick is.
The minimap and new spotting mechanics are taking a bit of getting used to, but I think it's a positive change in general.
One thing i've noticed that with all the weapons toned down, it feels like finding a flank is less successful than before. It used to be that if you came around a corner and found a bunch of guys in a pile looking the other way, that was a squad wipe. Right now I can only get through 1-2 dudes before running out of ammo, so an epic flank is tending to just get me one or two kills and then a death. Not sure if I'm just bad at shooting or if I should be doing something else.
Also on the topic of being bad at shooting, what's the actual best way to take a medium range gunfight? Do you still ads and shoot while moving sideways or is it now better to stop and shoot or something?
And melee. Man I suck at melee. I have no idea how it works but I lose every duel I get in.
And nobody, absolutely nobody ever revives you despite maps being full of medics. I never remember it being this bad in BF3.

As someone who found BC2 to be the best Battlefield game I've got a question: did dice make maps that are tailored specifically around Rush, or did they do the same thing as BF4 and just shoehorned it into existing conquest maps? Rush is by far my favourite game mode (Valparaiso and Port Valdez were amazing maps), but DICE all but butchered the game mode in BF4. I'm interested in BF1, but only if Rush is more fun to play.
|
The maps get reused for all the modes, including Rush. They mostly just tweak the borders, spawns, and vehicles for each mode. I think they're fun maps for Conquest and Operations and are extremely atmospheric, but I don't have enough experience in Rush to know if they did that mode justice.
Also, I'm consistently getting fairly well-populated Operations games when I'm queuing, so I'm not getting population issues so far. I'm queuing from North America and always on 64 players on PC.

Im loving the game, it's so good

Man this game is so full of those random epic moments. Two enemy tanks getting stuck at choke? Np, friendly assault and his dynamite to the rescue, +9 rescued souls from the evil trap of metal and rocks.
You suck at piloting and that enemy bomber gunner rips you a hole? No problem, you maybe arent best at flying, but kamikaze style is something completly different. After all it's a 1v3 trade off! (people get angry if you do that btw)
Snipers doing sniper thingies at border of the map? Hell no if my horsie have something to say about it. I'm actually bad enough that i can miss sabre swings, but horsie does the in a job trampling way.
Burning things is what you like to do? Hell yeah, find a random flamerthrower someone left under a bridge and visit enemy team in their hole, purify em and then find a friendly medic. Medic is important cause flame dude takes ages to regen by himself.
So much fun! Easily one of best games that came out this year.

chuck your nade at the group before you start shooting in that instance. preferably at distance too, since you can't cook grenades. you want to master chucking it at the range where it basically lands and explodes so there is no time for them to see it and scramble. alternatively, get impact grenades.
personally, i prefer to prone and shoot so you're a smaller target. i've also not really found my go-to gun yet though. Some have hard recoil, etc

I prefer the fixed battle lines of Rush to the enemies coming from every angle-style gameplay of conquest, so I guess I'll skip this one.

Operations mode is a million times better than Rush imo. But if you aren't sure you have two options. You can pay 5$ to play a 10 hour trial of the full game and see if you like it (if so you pay 53$ for the rest of the game, if not you spent 5$). Or you can watch twitch and watch.
Personally I play conquest and operations, operations is my new favorite mode with Conquest.

Actually Rush and Domination are well made and the bomb placements and spawns are great
Seems to me this is a comeback to the BC2 rush which was great
And i LOVE rush, is easily my most played mode
|
operations is basically rush 2.0

One thing I really did not miss in my FPS hiatus was the hackers.
Eh, maybe the guy is just good. Or maybe he just one-shot each person on my team from 300m with an MP18.
