I did not think it would be this hard to play on switch though. They managed to fit everything in the control scheme but i think it was pretty confusing in the first hour or so. Still, it gets better so if you haven't played it yet, it is a really good tactical rpg with lovecraftian themes

http://www.8bitdo.com/sn30pro-sf30pro/ It's got some pros and cons. I got it for $55 CAD (I believe it's just under $40 USD) so it's not a cheap controller by any means. From what I've seen, all of the cheaper alternatives don't have motion controls. It's OK as a controller. I'll know more about it tomorrow when I start playing DKC (a genre that really tests the quality of a controller's D-Pad) Pros: - Buttons, sticks and d-pad all feel pretty good. Especially the D-Pad Cons: - Pressing the L2/R2 (or whatever it's called on the Switch) is awkward with this kind of controller. Or more specifically, resting your middle fingers on the shoulder buttons while maintaining a good grip is awkward. - Getting a weird issue with Splatoon 2 where it keeps giving me an error message about not detecting an Amiibo. This happens during lobby and shopping, never in game. But it's still annoying. I've contacted 8bitdo and they say they're aware of it and are working on a firmware update For a cheaper alternative that doesn't have gyro/rumble, Power A's looks pretty interesting:

I was actually thinking about those since I have a few Retropies and I can easily pull double duty with both. Was a bit worried about what you said with the bumpers. Definitely interested in those power As. Rumble and movement detection doesn't really matter to me. Wireless would definitely be preferred, but not a must since the system isn't far away from my couch

I think for your case (cheap alternative controller for p3 and p4) the Power A sounds good. I can't recommend a controller I've never used, but if I wanted a cheaper controller, that's the one I'd try edit: Here's a PS3 controller. The shoulders are bigger, giving you more room to rest both your index and middle fingers. The grip where your hand goes helps out a lot. The concept applies to pretty much any modern controller + Show Spoiler + Here's the 8bitdo. If you only use your index finger and your index switches between R1 and R2, then you'll be OK, but if you want to rest your middle finger on R2, it feels kinda weird. The SNES form factor just wasn't intended for having multiple shoulder buttons. + Show Spoiler + I have average-ish to slightly below average size hands, so it might be even worse if you have big hands

Maybe not the one that was leaked, but didn't Nintendo announce that Gamefreak was indeed working on a mainline game back at the last E3? Edit: here + Show Spoiler +
