This is where the bar should be set for all $60 games
Only thing I dislike is when ur forced to use gyro controls to solve puzzles. The puzzles themselves are very trivial but the controls make it difficult and annoying.

I suggest you try and just brute force/cheese the puzzles as much as you can, it is actually much easier this way for the majority of them than the intended way. Unfortunately there are at least one or two that will still require some struggle and fines. For example, one of the first motion-puzzles is the standard ball in a maze. For this one it is comically easier to flip the entire maze over to the flat side and just punch the ball into the path it needs to end in. I actually managed this in one motion first try after about 30 min of trying the intended way. Thankfully I think there are only about a dozen or so of those kinda of puzzles, which is still far more than there should be, so they are more of a blip on an otherwise just amazing game.

FIFA18 is probably the worst iteration of FIFA I've ever played, game play wise (and I've played a lot of it). FIFA17 is faster, sharper controls, allows you to do more things, isn't nearly as sloppy with passes, shots, etc. Pretty much better in every way. The only problems I ever see are with the AI tactics. Controls are the exact same when you're in game because it switches the functions of the A and B button once you get into a game to match the other systems' controllers.

I think the problem with them if you aren't ever really set behind the object you're manipulating because you need to see the whole puzzle, so the whole thing becomes a "how well can you mentally interperate this 3d area and apply it accurately in regards to the motion of your hand in the real world".

From my experience, which has been 2 playthroughs of the game (yes I reset my first game with 100% shrines completed for no good reason) and a fair bit of testing, the actual motion tracking is pretty jacked up for those puzzles. The longer you mess around with them the further off from a "zero-point" the controls get, making it nearly impossible to reset the puzzle without exiting the entire thing and coming back to it. Quite often while working on a puzzle I found myself having to twist the controller in stranger and stranger ways to get the same motion I got fairly easily at the start. To the point where I was having to do a complete 360 and only getting a fraction of the motion in game. This was even more frustrating as I tend to play mostly in handheld mode and it is simply impossible to do these puzzles without detaching the controllers. From this though I learned that everything seems to be based on the gyro in the right joycon, or the bottom end on the right joycon from a practical standpoint. So regardless of how well you can build a 3d image in your mind of the puzzle (which I seem to be fairly good at) the controls are still a struggle and will frustrate you endlessly. It's one of those "I can see the solution, but can't get things lined up just perfectly to actually execute said solution" problems. My best advice, past what I gave in my earlier post, for anyone else having issues on these puzzles is to try to do these either with a pro-controller or remove the joycon's and just work with the right joycon to try and line things up. It won't fully resolve the weirdness of the controls, but it should minimize issues. In other news, I am finding myself enjoying the full release of Octopath a fair bit more than the demo. The combat before you build a full party is pretty flat compared to actually having a full party to work with. I still find most of the stories a bit on the dull/cliché side but there are some decent moments. Kinda think they should have done a different approach for the demo at this point. 3 hours of playtime gets eaten by the story quite a bit so you hardly have a chance to experience the gameplay, and what you do get seems to not be very representative of what the main part of the game is.

I bought plenty of backup (normal) controllers just in case I didn't like the Joycons, but I never would have expected the default controllers to just stop working after such a short amount of time. That's very un-Nintendo. At least the games are amazing and I can still play them. Regardless, that sounds like something you can go "Uh, Nintendo, wtf?" about and they fix it for you.

About FIFA, the game itself is pretty good. Compared to the XBOX version it does have less features, but it still has career mode, Ultimate team, character creator, all the teams, all the cups etc. However I would not buy fifa 18. Maybe fifa 19 when it's released. Why? Well because the online sucks. For some fucking reason, EA decided that you should only be able to look for a match for 1-2 mins. If you didn't find another player similar to your skill level, too bad. It cancels the queue and you need to queue again. Which is fucking stupid. Because of this, and the factt that 18 is not as new anymore, it's pretty hard to find matches online because two players need to queuq in exactly the same 2 minute time frame window, else it cancels for both of them and are forced to do it again. That is very annoying, so most people don't bother. Fifa ultimate does have more players, and I have been able to play many online matches, but in general...I'd recommend the Switch version because it is good and it is confortable, but I'd wait for 19. All that while aknowledging the Xbox/ps4 version is better. 18 does have the world cup update so it Will have more content than 19, but I guess that now that the world cup ended it kinda loses some of it's coolness,

The only console I have bought in the last 10 years was the 3ds, considering a christmas switch buy and weighing up the options. I still feel like there aren't really that many good games yet

Am I making a bigger deal out of this than it really is? Or is it pretty worthwhile to have all 4 Path Actions available? PS: This is regarding Octopath Traveler, if that wasn't clear

+ Show Spoiler + "Playing as one of the hammer bros. is fun. ... Playing as a chargin' chuck is *really* fun. ... I GET TO BE BOWSER WHAAAAT? O.O" + Show Spoiler + Definitely teared up after beating Bowser/ after we escaped. I'm not done with the game though; I still have more Power Moons to earn and more outfits to unlock. To beat the game, you need 124 Power Moons; I have about triple that, but there are well over a thousand moons in the game (the counter stops at 999, you unlock everything, and it's largely irrelevant to go any higher). The completionist in me is itching to get to that 999 count.

Currently playing Ys VIII and having a fucking blast. If you enjoyed Xenoblade, a must have too. Reviews said the port was poor but on current patch, I'm seeing nothing problematic, just a cool game!

I'm gonna go buy Octopath whenever I have time edit: Also I'm playing this on PC atm, but Celeste is on Switch as well and it's one of the best games I've played in a long time. If you're into good platformers with great music plz pick it up.

Story was surprisingly interesting and the music was definitely an highlight. Next after Ys will be Octopath Traveler too even though the reviews kinda killed my hype a bit, especially the disconnected stories... Will see...
