No mention of virtual console, Netflix, no mention of any first party games that weren't announced already, shitty five year old ports of older games, and a collection of 30 year old arcade games. Major suck fest. Since my interest in and available time for gaming is at an all time low, I don't mind. I've put in many hours in Zelda, and still got a lot more to go. I don't think it's good to see the current generation of consoles as short term investments. Quite frankly, the PS4 line-up is appalling, and the system turns four this year. Ton of full-price remakes, sequels galore but very few new IPs. So far Bloodborne and Witcher 3 have been worth it, Dark Souls 3 has been meh. I've got some other games but they're virtually untouched.

So new consoles keep getting smaller and smaller game libraries. It's probably going to get worse with every new generation. Switch is different though, with its mobile tech and easy-to-develop-for architecture. So it will be really interesting to see what kind of library it can gather.

Could also be a case of people switching smaller titles away from consoles and instead doing a different one for the bigger mobile market that is often easier to release on as well. PC is still looking very good though, so at least that is hopeful until cloud gaming gets good enough to use a phone connected to a TV or similar.

It works really well with the gamepad. I figured the Switch would have it as well, I'm rather surprised. At least they're saying that it will be coming eventually.

Especially since the Switch's game catalog is still quite poor, Nintendo needs to put all their devs to work on feeding the Switch with games and should stop splitting their workforce in two by continuing support for the 3ds...

On the Switch's portability: I use it almost daily in my commute to/from work, in the parisien metro. Works like a charm with a headphone.

It just seems to fit in perfectly the wrong place where basically anyone is better off buying a different 3DS-line system. Conceptually I think it's fine (I actually think the form factor looks really nice and would consider trading in my 3DS for one if I didn't have to pay so much more on top), I just don't think the price point is right at all.

It takes up less space than a 3ds xl lol. http://thisgengaming.com/2017/01/15/nintendo-switch-tablet-wii-u-tablet-and-3ds-xl-comparison-images-revealed/ I use it on the train every day, seen 2-3 others playing it as well. Not sure why your friend couldn't use it in the car..
