For example I don't expect they have changed their engine too much (aside from higher polycount and resolution). Kinda like Pokémon Switch in that aspect. FE will be a must buy for sure for me, after having skipped Shadows of Valentia. Same for me. I still liked the gameplay of Awakening and Fates but they managed to touch upon almost everything that annoys me about otaku anime culture. Everything related to the writing (story, characterization, support, character design) was facepalm worthy. On another note, I noticed that Ever Oasis Saga was on the list of announcements in the last page. Did anybody play the first one last year? It was one of the games that piqued my interest but I eventually decided to pass on due to not having enough time.

The series would be dead if it wasn't for Awakening And Awakening was good so...

I don't hate post-Awakening FE, but the sales numbers that Awakening needed to hit for the series to "not die" weren't even that high. Awakening rocketed the series to a new level of popularity, but it wasn't really in any danger of dying at all.

I don't have a real care either way, since I really like fe:if and the older games, but I would be happy if they get rid of the whole My Unit concept and class changing.

You actually don't need all that feature-bloat as long as you design tight levels and boss fights that take advantage of all the tools you do give the player. But most of the time the feature-bloat just leads to a small subset of broken choices and a large amount of traps hidden behind overly complex systems. That is something that i dislike in general. Too many games just have traps in their systems. If you give the player choices, don't make it 1-3 right choices and a bunch of wrong ones. That is pointless. Make different choices have different effects, but all be valid. I just don't see the point in having decisions where the only reason to have them is to not fuck up and look as if there are choices. It is not a meaningful decision.

And if we're being honest, people put the GBA games on a pedestal since they were the first localized games, but in the context of the series as a whole, they're kind of a low point.
