Recently while being sick I decided to go through most of the online card games and give them a chance. While I enjoyed a good deal of them, I often felt like I'd rather be playing Magic or as if they fell short in some areas. Games like Spellweaver had good ideas on mana mechanics and Duelyst was interesting spin on the board itself, others like Faeria felt like very repetitive. Out of them all, unexpectedly, I ended up liking Shadowverse the most.
Initially I was really put off by the artstyle and huge UI, but after playing for a while I ended up hooked on the quick pace and variance of playstyles. Not to mention the game had probably the most generous start for new players out of all of them. Giving a big pile of card packs straight out and a lot more from completing basic stuff.
I was pretty stupid though, as slugging through story missions I played mostly with the default decks presented and their power felt really insufficient towards the last missions (which apparently were added more recently and there's more to come in few days). Not to mention the defaults only gave a glimpse of the different Craft playstyles, I initially hated Sword for example but ended up liking it after building my own deck.
I think Hearthstone is probably one of the closer games to compare and while there's no hero powers the crafts have their own mechanics ranging from unit type synergy, low health bonus to high mana bonus and so on. There's way less RNG and it's usually more spesific when it exists in effects (random highest cost card, random 1-drop etc.) The evolve mechanic initially felt very spammy but once I played more experienced players in the draft format, it became more obvious that being smart with it could pay off big.
Now after a week and some of enjoying the game I have access to few cheaper tier list and a budget one that also seems to put up a fight.
Does anyone else play it?
Edit, adding some stuff: store.steampowered.com Steam link, found in app stores and like on mobile.
sv.bagoum.com Meta stuff and lists.

I started playing the game almost a week ago now, and I'm having a great time. And it really helps to get started in the game that you get ~100 packs (half of it as coins to spend on packs) just by doing the tutorial, the story quests, beating the Elite AI and having some not too serious private matches. And you can even reroll the first batch of packs if you are playing on mobile.
Balancewise, there are decks that are a bit too strong (53-55% winrate at masters), but they are getting tweaked in the upcoming days; but every craft has several viable decks and every archetype can be played.
I think it's worth trying out by anyone who doesn't despise anime-style art (the game is japanese).
My user ID is 386 684 176 if anyone wants to add me.

the reason for this is that pro mtg players Kentaro Yamamoto, Yuuya Watanabe and Yuuki Ichikawa are all on the shadowverse dev team, you can really tell they took a lot of concepts from mtg and it makes the game quite good in regards to individual card design.

How does it compare to Eternal? That's been filling my MTG itch lately.

Eternal is likely the closest to pure MTG. SV feels more like Hearthstone style game "done right" to me, though some more experienced HS players might disagree.
One of the surprising positive points was allowing players to practise the draft format in private rooms without limits against each other.

Pretty damn fun game. Lots of interesting mechanics and viable deck types. They're very generous on the free stuff too which is nice.

Came because I didn't want to catch up on Hearthstone knowledge, stayed for the anime tiddies.
Fun fun game. Working through Solo right now and haven't actually played against anyone yet, but it's been a good time thus far.

Cygames is a lot more generous than Blizzard, but at the same time, most meta decks atm such as aegis haven and aggro shadow cost above 20000 vials (sv.bagoum.com/db/pl).
The "tier 0" deck right now is a wallet dragon deck which can cost up to 60000 vials. (sv.bagoum.com/db/qZ)
You get an avg of 470 vials per pack. . The number drops to around 300 vials if you decide to keep some legendaries and golds.
While 100 packs may look very generous, for most players, it is still recommended that they invest some money if you plan to be competitive.

Best card game period. I was bored of Heartstone and just couldn't get a decent deck without paying so I switched to SV.
Game is F2P but I spend 10 $ just because I loved what the devs are doing for the players. I hit masters a couple of months ago and u keep your rank Instead of grinding it every time.
Ppl never give it chance because of the anime style aka weebstone but I would say the animation and art style is even better than Heartstone. Pretty much the only thing HS has over SV is the voice acting.

The current meta is the most imbalanced there has ever been, they gonna patch it so theres not gonna by any problem doe

I am thinking of trying out this game. I was wondering if someone here could help me out... I don't mind grinding, but does this game have cards which are not available for F2P at all?
I just want to know if it is possible to reach the highest rank in F2P without spending cash in this game. Also a bit of information on balance would help.

Hey! All of te cards are available to f2p players. Money can get you some goodies like alternate skins or artwork, but that's all. It is possible to reach the highest rank in a short time, as long as you have card games experience and know what to do. As for the balance, new expansion will come out at the end of the June, so metagame will change a little.
I made a simple walkthrough guide for new players, feel free to check it out. Also at the very bottom you can find useful links to reddit and discord communities. https://www.facebook.com/ShadowShadet/photos/a.949639911736948.1073741828.949595321741407/2000938113273784/?type=3
