Mittens is back from vacation, but his post isn't as much an update on the war as much as an update on himself...
i think i might move out to the west coast, i didn't see a single money-obsessed yuppie for the four days i was in portland
various other attractions: free public transportation, ubiquitous yoga (not such a fan of ashtanga but it was a hell of a workout), and books books books. and beer.
best of all, unlike my vegas vacation, i have returned to find that we spent all day 0wning rkz, sysk and romulans, rather than having the alliance be on fire
updates tomorrow morning to cover 6/11 -> 6/15, 6/11 to 6/13 was basically 'ride bikes woo' though
Pre-DT battle report from 5C-, an RA station system part of one of their two Insmother sov4's.
All their towers were put into reinforced a couple days ago by combined Atlas/Aggro/UK/byrn forces. Today all 11 were coming out starting 0800 eve time. We formed up same time as RA, expecting them to try get into system before we were fully formed. Our pilots were on the ball though, and before RA sat ready on the XIX ragna Katie Price, we already had 300+ friendlies in system from the aforementioned alliances.
Options were few for RA+friends, and with 3 Atlas titans in local active we knew for sure that they were gonna bridge in on a POS at one point. So we kept our dictors ready and informed Titans to warp to the cyno the second they'd hear it wasn't friendly. So we waited, POS were still not out of reinforced, we had about 350 and RA about 200 ready to bridge in somewhere in 5C-.
Then cyno went up, and our plan seemed to work out pretty well. A lot of the RA allies didn't have time to write in the POS password before lag and DD's hit them in the face, and we got a pretty nice dual DD off.
RA did not make any attempts to try anything after that, and when they tried to make a run for it about an hour later, we made chase, killed a couple (but not many since a lot of them logged on gates) and we tried to DD them again killing mostly friendly dictors .
So far all towers before DT have been killed, and about 6 more come out after DT. If we manage to kill all today, station will be in Atlas hands tomorrow (since we've had a sov claiming tower in there for couple weeks) and the sov4 broken next weekend.
most of the carriers in the Period Basis engagements (that led up to the 49- attack) were lost by the romulans. heres what one of the pandemic legion guys said about their fittings:
I've already counted one Archon with a spare lowslot, a Chimera with one spare high, a Chimera with only two highslots used, like three carriers with Drone Link Augs, a Chimera with dual SBAs but only two hardeners (and a Large Remote Armor Rep / Large Shield Transporter II, too) and a Chimera with no remote-reps but an A-Type SBA + 2 hardener tank.
What the fuck? These are some of the very worst carrier fittings anyone has seen outside of Empire in years.
the engagement should probably be named "when carebears attack: more money than sense".

This thread will not die!
This is why the Roms need to stick to BS Swarm.
We had one carrier there, but he made it out alive.

Looking bad for RA...
But from the Goon perspective things are more optimistic:
Seoul_Power:
In the Southwest, Red Alliance has actually repelled a good number of attacks on Insmother and Scalding Pass. Atlas is taking a breather and RA and their friends have managed to push Aggression, Sc0rched Earth and IRC/ED back. It's worth noting that the enemies on both fronts have started cooperating with each other, so now attacks on both sides of RA are going to be more coordinated. I don't see this being a major issue, this isn't the first time RA's been attacked from all sides.
Ok I've been trying to keep up with this thread (read every single page...wow), but I'm kind of having trouble keeping track of where things are now.
I know that in the Goons vs. Kenny arena, Kenzoku's bottled up in one system? Goons are massively winning, right? But how about their allies? I'm having trouble keeping up with all these PL, RA, IRC, etc. alliances. Who's allied with whom, and could someone give me a status report on them?

<_< thanks.
Kenny was bottled in one system for a month which is why delve fell so quickly, but that was a while ago. Right now Kenny has all but collapsed, and the real drama is that Red alliance is being attacked on all sides.
Overview While many of us would like to point at 3BK and 49 and declare victory - or at least assert that victory is imminent, do so would be to repeat the mistakes we made last time we knocked at 49's door only to fail.
The good news is that our enemies are focused in two systems, one of which allows us to camp them into an NPC station (KFIE), extracting still more vengeance in the name of S-U8A4. The bad news is that there is still a substantial amount of ***got spam in Querious to be dealt with; I'll be updating the spreadsheet after I finish writing this, assuming our scout reports are up to date. At the very least, 1-SMEB remains, along with a smattering of 'unsexy' targets that nevertheless must be killed. There are two broad ways in which we could choose to assault 49. Option one is open, frontal assault complete with ~good fights~. This was tried before; the purging exhausted us after we shot too many towers in one night, and then all our efforts were wasted when Molle summoned his friedns (since they do not blob or nap) and vastly outnumbered us in eurotime.
Option two is slow, draining attrition. Rather than attacking 20 towers at a go, we shoot 5 and go back to work on pet spam in Querious. Rather than allowing an all-encompassing battle on our enemy's terms, we harass the system and keep station services flatlined, rendering a miserable, boring, slog for them - no glory, no honor, just interminable and humiliating failure. Other news: Solar Fleet invaded Geminate/Wildly Inappropriate this weekend. The NC went north and have - as of moments ago - finished purging the last tower of their invading forces. With that out of the way, they'll be back down here for more Querious hijinks.
NEAR TERM STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES:
1. Camp 49 and KFIE 2. Keep 49 Station Services Inoperative 3. Reinforce 49- R64s, work slowly on sieging the system 4. Continue to clear out pet spam
6/11 to 6/15, inclusive I was relaxing in Portland and so missed the usual daily war update. There's not much ground to cover. After winning 3BK utterly on 6/10-6/11, we took a couple of days off to focus on slosh ops and bike riding on the 12th and 13th. Yesterday, Sunday the 14th, was the first outbreak of serious strategic action.
First, in late euro prime, we killed a bunch of Romulans and SysK in XZ-, a cruicial midpoint bridge system in Period Basis. Mister Vee tells the tale:
[*]KIA reinforced three romulan xz- towers to prevent it going sov3 soon [*]Romulans formed up a battleship fleet to fight KIA, C0ven had a 25 man HAC gang in the area [*]We formed up a carrier fleet to assist KIA, waited for hostiles to engage. [*]We decided to scout 49- just to be safe and found 80 GBC on a titan ready to bridge [*]DBRB decided to fight against the odds, 200 hostile support to 100 friendly and 25-30 carriers [*]GBC bridged to CX8, burned to XZ-, KIA logged in titans to doomsday them on the in gate [*]Romulans/Sysk/C0ven jumped in to xz-, we cyno'd in our carriers on the gate, hostiles got absolutely butchered by our gatecamp [*]GBC jumped in, doomsday never went off because KIA dictors died, warped in to sniper spot and started pounding on our carriers [*]KIA warped out support, I jihaded a double bubble dictor on the GBC fleet, KIA double doomsdayed (~40 kills, 75% of their bs fleet died) [*]KIA warped support back on the field, Sysk hotdropped us with carriers (?!) [*]We sent out broadcasts, rallied support and dreads, counter-hotdropped sysk carriers with 30 pl dreads and 20-30 of our own [*]Support arrived, ****d everything on grid, GBC ran home with their survivors but met -R- on the way and died [*]Looted the field, saved 5v- tower, downed 49- jammer for lulz (we had the fleet for it anyway) and reinforced some ****
Oh, and that's after the GBC was up north in geminate to help Solar Fleet and died horribly to the NC.
After this, we moved to 5V- and ZAU and repped and restronted our R64s, which RKZ had ninja-sieged pre-downtime several days ago during an outbreak of actual fighting spirit. Possessing a huge fleet, we went to 49 and attacked the jammer. An epic battle ensued.
Originally by: enjoi, rkz ****** It should be pure epic, that Jammer tower is nasty and going to take a not-inconsiderable fleet to take down. I also don't think the coalition has what it takes.
It went down with a whole three casualties on our side.
We then sieged some ****, gnawing slowly on 49 rather than going for a hellpurge, focusing on the RKZ R64s (since they only have two left) and maybe a couple of other towers. They come out at 14:50ish on Tuesday.
Nex Exercitus, the former core of Skunk-Works now in EXE, sold us a Minmatar Outpost egg in J-L at 3b below empire price. Their faith in RKZ's victory remains unbroken!
This morning we have been greeted with a hilarious sight: Molle flying Chowdown's Avatar. Fifth time's a charm!
As for the bit about Molle with yet another Titan in his hands:
Seoul Power: That titan actually belonged to Chowdown, who got that titan from a player known as the Enslaver, who was a GM working within Lotka Volterra, as well as the person who was targeted by the infamous "cut the power to his house" plot. I believe it's the first Titan to ever fire a DD on goons. So yeah, that particular Avatar has some history with us. We very much look forward to killing it.
Ok I know this thread is dying and I should stop bumping it, but I found this too funny not to pass on:
Seoul Power from the CoH thread: Minor Threat (a small alliance that's been trying to break into 0.0 politics) tried to make an ultimatum to Red Alliance, telling them to surrender and they'd allow an evacuation. Red Alliance responded by sending them a pornographic image, with arrows pointing to the genitals of the two men in the picture labeled "Red Alliance" and "Legion of xXDeathXx". The woman was labeled as "Minor Threat."
So I1Y hit sov 4 for the goons. The outpost is now called "I1Yo look its a new capital".
IRON is down to 3 systems, incl. 1 outpost, which someone renamed to "So Long and thx for all the Dys".
I just learned that on Dotlan, the stations (with a square in the middle) were actually placed in those systems by CCP, while the outposts (with a triangle in the middle) were built by players. Also, the different outposts give bonuses to different services. For more info, see:
Mittani 6/16 update: First: take a moment, stare at that pos jpg, and pat yourselves on the back.
Second: We can still **** this up horribly. We're past masters of ****ing up anything involving 49. Perhaps no one is better in this game at hilariously failing in this particular system than Goonswarm. We have to resist the urge to declare victory and **** this up; we have to hold out until 49 is done. Then and only then can we go ride bikes, start up the foreign legion, and invade lowsec while spewing catchphrases like carefree griefing ***gots.
What happened since the last update? Our inadvertent titan-baiting in 49 blossomed into full-on sieging and kiting. We had planned, at the directorate level, to commence the invasion after Zapa's excellent SoTG. However, KenZoku had gone fetal so obviously that by the time the speech began in the evening of US time, the kiting of RKZ towers in 49 had been ongoing for many hours. This continued until downtime, when the kited towers were knocked into reinforced; we've been blessed with a number of US TZ timers.
In non-49 news, we cleared out OGY by blowing up the offline ROL towers there. The amount of hostile towers in Querious continues to plummet.
After downtime we formed up en masse, assembling more than 300 coalition pilots and ten titans. KenZoku and -A- couldn't break 100, canceled their formups, and lost the four towers which came out at 14:00. Those are now staging deathstars for our titans.
At 15:00 evetime today, Dianabolic changed the RKZ IRC motd: "Evac what you can from 49-, Darwin is watching you. Bridge from 49- at 1800." In response, we have ****caged the station and announced the creation of a PR- style permacamp. Unlike with PR, if we flip 49 to our control, those BoB assets are trapped.
Oh, yeah. I almost forgot. Those towers we took at downtime? Those were RKZ's last R64s. They have none, now. Zero.

Funny considering the fact that Minor Threat. + Co. has almost taken Scalding Pass from them... watch the sov the next few days.....
For all intents and purposes the Goonswarm vs Kenny war is over. Kenny has posted stickied threads on their forums telling their members to evac what they can if anything from KFIE and 49-u and changed their private irc motd to reflect that order. 49-u towers are no longer being managed and all of them have 1d13h of stront, so expect the system to be clear of hostile towers within 48h.
The SOTG last night mentioned that the Goonfleet Foreign Legion(Massive support fleets moving to allies territory and sleeping on their couch to help them with their conflicts) will be put back in effect very soon, most likely moving to the south east to help RA given the history between the two alliances and the space being fought over. That's simply speculation from a grunt's POV but it was hinted at in the speech.
How the hell can Triumvirate bug all of NC and field fleets with over a hundred caps with only like 400-500 members? Its like a mosquito fighting a bear, how can Triumvirate fight the thousands of people in NC?
The DID own most (or all?) of Deklein at one point, and that region has a lot of r64s. I imagine they've been paid off by the NC's enemies as well.
The fact that they get high turnout ratios just means they have a high percentage of active PvP players who love coming out to their fights. They own (almost) no sov, and probably a relatively small # of towers total, so they don't need much of a logistics division. Also, they probably (pure speculation here) don't engage in as much boring POS warfare compared to, say, the Goons, so their fleet ops are probably more fun.
