My perspective as RAZOR FC:
The Battle of J2-P
OR
How to wipeout the CEI dread hangar in an hour and a half.
Like Babe Ruth calling his shot, myself and one of Atlas' FCs were having a conversation in local about a day before this fight.
Fast forward to the next day. After skirmishing with PL hac fleets while killing towers in J2-P, it seemed that Atlas and AAA would not be interfering with our siege of the station. I called an impromtu op for 2300, to finish off the last remaining tower in that system.
Curiously enough, Mr. Bobby O Atlas called an op for precisely the same time as the tower exiting reinforced. As the clock ticked closer towards the tower exit, our scouts reported 40-50 Atlas caps cynoing out of O-W to a perfect midpoint to hit J2-P. Additionally, an Atlas scout had been in J2-P for the last several hours. 2 and 2 were put together, and it was obvious: Atlas was going to drop us.
After ringing the batphone to Scavok of Goonfleet, and Shadoo of PL, I swapped Razor from battleships into capitals. We would be the bait for this engagement, a shitty deal for our first wave to be sure, but necessary to spark the fight we wanted. 10 goon dreads joined our fleet, and 40-50 PL stayed logged off waiting for Atlas to drop.
We cynoed to a safe spot, and aligned for the tower, giving PL and Goons a bit more time to set up. After warping, we sieged on the tower. It was at this point when this little snippet of jabber conversation occured:
(7:46:13 PM) Shadoo: calling blueballs
(7:47:49 PM) Phreeze: cyno
(7:47:57 PM) Phreeze: we are hotdropped at 30kkm
Unknown to us, AAA had also formed up a significant cap fleet, and an AAA hictor was the first to land on grid and open a cyno.
As PL logged in, Goons cynoed in next to us, giving us 15 RZR dreads 5 carriers, 10 goon dreads, vs nearly 80 Atlas/AAA dreads and carriers.
(7:48:06 PM) scavok: open cyno for us
(7:48:25 PM) Phreeze: up
(7:48:29 PM) scavok: tell me primaries
(7:48:32 PM) mr_rive: numbers?
(7:48:33 PM) mr_rive: a-z
(7:48:36 PM) Phreeze: 90
(7:49:00 PM) scavok: 90 hostile caps?
(7:52:20 PM) Phreeze: shadoo we are going to die
The early going was brutal. By the time PL cynoed in, we were down to 4 RZR dreads. For the first wave, we would lose all RZR caps and kill 9 enemy dreads.
(7:59:45 PM) mr_rive: theyre coming to us
(7:59:47 PM) mr_rive: 50 off us
(8:00:22 PM) Phreeze: all razor caps down
Thinks were not well for Pandemic Legion either. Due to a fuckup on titan bridge range, PL hics and dics were not bridged in initially, and while PL engaged at snipe, the hostiles quickly repositioned on them at close range and began ripping through their sniper dreads.
During this time, RZR capital pilots who had died at the fight were titan bridged back to Doril, and reshipped. Additional pilots were called in via jabber broadcasts.
(8:09:25 PM) Shadoo: h9ow is field looking
(8:09:42 PM) mykow: 60 bad guy caps 30 friendly
(8:10:38 PM) Phreeze: shadooo
(8:10:41 PM) Phreeze: we are coming back with 30 d
(8:12:38 PM) Shadoo: phreeze eta?
(8:12:42 PM) Phreeze: 5
(8:12:48 PM) Phreeze: issuing new caps
The second wave ready, we cynoed in at close range. RZR/PL now matched AAA/Atlas in dread count. Additionally, Minor Threat titan bridged a support fleet with an emphasis on dictors and hics, and permabubbled the entire enemy fleet. A wave of Goon support also arrived, after they jumpcloned to JLO in scalding pass and burned to us. Minutes after our second wave, PL jumped in theirs, and the fight swung into our favor. AAA/Atlas were now heavily outnumbered in caps, and completely outnumbered in support (they had nearly zero).
(8:28:36 PM) scavok: we can make up ground now
(8:28:42 PM) scavok: but this was an ugly start
(8:29:21 PM) Phreeze: shadoo
(8:29:24 PM) Phreeze: we have zero dreads left in doril
(8:29:28 PM) Phreeze: all corp hangars empty
(8:29:33 PM) dabigredboat: hehehe
(8:29:40 PM) Phreeze: :D
(8:29:41 PM) dabigredboat: how many blues to reds on field
(8:30:04 PM) mr_rive: 4-1 at leats now
(8:30:05 PM) scavok: blues overwhelming
(8:30:12 PM) Phreeze: they are bailing
After sweeping the field of remaining hostiles, a count was made: One hundred and fifty two capital wrecks were reported, and later after killboard statistics were compared, this number was revised to one hundred and sixty six capitals destroyed in the engagement, making this the deadliest capital battle in EVE history.
Allied Losses:
Pandemic Legion: 46 dreads
Goonfleet: 9 dreads
Razor: 35 dreads, 2 carriers
Enemy Losses:
Atlas: 28 Dreads, 8 carriers
AAA: 50 dreads
Final tally is 74 capitals killed, 92 lost. Razor held the field, and the tower was destroyed. Safe to say, AAA/Atlas came out having the slight advantage do to our initial failures in the first 20 minutes of the fight.
Good fight.
