I still do not believe for a moment they had any plan to keep dust alive except for what contractual obligations they might have with sony

Wonder if this will rise to monoclegate levels. we don't have the players nor the kind of open forum to protest that eve does. For the most part people are just biomassing in droves. I don't have time for the drama I just logged in to ask a few people I liked playing with if they would continue to play, distributed isk among them and logged out after writing down their psn ids incase our games ever overlapped. I was playing for the long haul, like getting in at the ground level of eve and having multiple characters with 10 years of skilling and assets, so I looked past a lot of faults for the future and since there is none I won't bother wasting my time grinding skills.

So a normal Dust player is an Alpha Tester? (Partially functional game.)

1. CCP realizes the malformed putty blob that is dust514 2. then just make a new game to fit what they originally wanted (or this will be shit too, it is CCP after all). 3. ccp slowly stops talking or acknowledging the problem altogether as if it never existed This is pretty much just short of an apology to the community for not having DUST on PC to begin with.

Although DUST 514 and Project Legion will function independently of one another, and are different projects on different development paths, DUST itself has a lot more shooting-in-the-face action to come. The team and I remain committed to continuing to improve the experience on PlayStation 3, while simultaneously making sure “Project Legion” becomes the experience we’ve all dreamt of. Source: http://dust514.com/news/blog/2014/05/introducing-project-legion/ It seems to me that PL is something completely different from D514 and that they're not explicitly stating that they're going to cease support for it on PS3 (on the contrary). Edit: Also, it seems that not everyone is so sad about it. I was so overjoyed at this that I literally cried tears of pure semen. - CaptainButtonMasher

yea they're totally different in that we really need to got get into a contract dispute with Sony. Now if you don't mind let us show you our demo running with dust 514 assets. Also pay no attention to that art dev blog explaining that art assets were rendered in u4 for future planning before being backwards ported to u3 for the ps3. Also that PL is using the u4 engine, there's no coincidence. I mean I knew the game was going places I just didn't expect that they'd lock the doors at the bus stop I was waiting at.

Don't get mad at me. I don't know jack about D514 (was vaguely interested until I read it's only on PS3, at this point my interest in it ceased entirely) and was just curious why so many people seem so upset with CCP pulling out of the console market. If anything stated in the video I linked is true (like Dust having 2-3k players tops at any given time and that you can only play 16v16 etc.) then I can't say I'm surprised they don't want to delve into it any longer.

At this point I'm well into the acceptance stage and just laughing at how well done this screw over was.

Thus the playerbase for DUST514 dwindles over time, until it reaches a very low point, then CCP says to everyone, sorry guys but we can't support this anymore, no one is playing this game. They might give people a matchmaking thing that is disconnected from Eve or something just to say they did something, then stop most support. Now no one blames CCP that DUST died, because hey, people stopped playing it, it had nothing to do with CCP actions, they weren't malicious or evil in the slightest. But really, it was planned and probably scheduled. pancake master race

This soothes the playerbase somewhat because, hey, we're still relevant and CCP cares about us. Now, since this is a better game then the original, new players will go to that one, and not the old one (also due to it being on the PC), and players that have DUST514 will also go to the new game (its better, and its not on a shit platform, so it would be stupid not to change).
