Also, I'm really tempted to put an image macro in spoiler of photoshopped/ modded controllers with far too many buttons. =p

As someone that's played a bit of WoW, you don't really want to cast the wrong spell at the wrong time because you pressed a 1 instead of a 4 or something. I'm just asking because, in general, I suck a bit at pressing side mouse buttons, and am only good at pressing the ones with my thumb. So can your thumb find these side buttons quickly with a bit of practise? I liked FakeSteve's analogy to cellphone buttons. I think with a little learning curve you'd learn where your thumb rests and where to navigate from there. Especially since the whole number-pad is on a curve each button will have a little different shape to it. Impractical for me at the moment, but I have a computer-peripheral fetish, so... Edit: All speculation of course

So can your thumb find these side buttons quickly with a bit of practise? yeah dude it's ridiculous how easy it is. there's definitely a bit of a learning curve but i literally never misclick with it. if you're having trouble we threw in some adhesive rubber nubs you can attach to buttons to use as a reference, which come off really easily when you dont need em there anymore plus if you look at the right side of the mouse, that ledge is deliberate. your ring finger rests there and it gives you a proper grip on the thing while you're moving your thumb around look: 1234567890-= <-- just typed that using my mouse LOL buttons 4-6 and 10-12 have ridges on them similar to a phone pad as well, that should help

Would I still be able to reach buttons 7-12 comfortably? I can see this mouse being used for other stuff as well though, perhaps not competitively, but it would make life more comfortable. For example, binding keys 1-3 to 8-0, and 4-6 to F2-F4 could be useful for SC. Yeah. When I play SC i use a fingertip grip but on this one i just palm it and I can hit all the buttons pretty easily given the shape of the mouse. If you can't reach all the buttons, the interface addon allows you to bind a ton of commands to the first 6 buttons anyway if you're some sort of cripple and you can actually switch the mouse to duplicate the numpad so some lazy dota players could get some use out of it

Because I'd love to have a desktop profile, with hotkeys for like back and forward, and maybe a few program shortcuts programmed onto it. I assume you can have profiles, but I couldn't find the info. nope, the mouse currently doesn't have any software on it. for it's actual purpose, it doesnt need it. it's something we'll keep an eye out for demand on, and if necessary it'd be something we'd implement in the form of a firmware update. right now the interface addons we developed can store unlimited profiles, including multiple profiles for a single character. this is a straight-up MMO mouse.

Ahh ok, that's a bit unfortunate. I mean, the mouse looks brilliant for playing WoW, but I don't really play anymore, and I can still think of tons of other uses for it. Unfortunately most of those would need custom button mappings and profiles. For example, pressing "1" will be mapped to ctrl+alt+1, my global hotkey for my web browser. Still, for most gaming purposes it would be fine as it is, you can just map rocket launcher to button 5 or whatever.

you may not play wow, but 12 million people do, and it's not the only MMO

http://www.cybersnipa.com/us/gaming-mice/stinger-mouse.php the software is a bit weird, though, so it's only if you're not looking for a you-need-20-fingers mouse, with lots of shortcuts etc... the look may not please everyone, but it's a good mouse and not too expansive. edit: I don't know why they show that dumb video on their site...

Don't get me wrong, I think the mouse is absolutely brilliant, for WoW and non-WoW players. I was just thinking about it a bit from a non-gaming perspective. Having 12 bindable keys on your mouse could completely change the way you use your mouse. Another thing I thought about is photoshop. There are so many nice shortcuts that you could then bind to the side of the mouse ("[" and "]" for example). I know Razer specialises in gaming gear, and I love their gaming gear, but I hope they just bring a small add-on to this that makes it similarly useful outside of games as well.
