Hey... I searched for a simular post, and kinda found some. But they are getting old, also I want more spesific answers. ^^
Lately I have watched Big Bang Theory, The Office, How I Met Your Mother and Community. But I'm out of episodes and it's a while 'till the next ones are out. I am sick of all the series about police work, crimescenes, drugs, bad cop/good cop stuff.. I just want some simple everyday, humoristic sitcoms to watch. Like BBT where you have the geeks and their apartment, HIMYM where you have the friends at the local pub. Where there is a clear story, but it's not the MOST important thing(like Prison Break for example(aslo it's a complete different genre ))
I believe many will disagree but I find the intern jokes and simple humor great to kill some time every now and again. Just watch some episodes before going to bed or something. Also it's easy to relate. Ofc you have the classics like Seinfeld, King of Queens etc.. But seen most of it.
So if you guys have a favorite show that fits the description(at least most of it ) just post it. Need to kill some time, specialy now that the beta is down.
I recommend a tv show called Trailer park boys, it is quite funny, and popular in canada. It is a mockumentry comedy, about the residents(particularily criminals) of a trailer park in nova scotia canada. Each episode is 22 minutes, it is a show which, I dont think has many similiar counter parts on tv, but I know it is on surfthechannel, and alluc
At my university, I had access to basically every show/movie/game/software etc. Our DC++ Hub had around 100 TB of stuff on it.
That being said, I have 2.5 TB worth of data on externals. I have watched so many TV shows from Big Bang to scrubs to dexter.
We seem to have similar tastes, sitcoms are my favourite genre and i absolutely love HIMYM.
Id recommend Entourage -- it's not very humour-centric, but it has some funny parts, and its easy to watch. If you really want something that will appease you with humor, try Weeds or arrested development. Or if you havent seen scrubs yet, try that. (First season isn't that great)
Frasier, Everybody Loves Raymond and Friends are all light and funny comedies based on friend and family relationships. Lots of content there, 10 seasons of friends, 9 seasons of raymond, and 11 of frasier. Enjoy
I only recently learned the "com" in sitcom stood for comedy. This was genuinely surprising to me as most of them aren't funny. Seinfeld is one of the few I would recommend.
I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a big fan of King of Queens .
It's a nice, light family-friendly comedy. I'm not really into the darker stuff like Always Sunny in Philadelphia. And also, +1 for 2 and a Half Men. That show has been consistently hilarious for years.
Im just gonna second some because they were all already posted. Seinfeld M.A.S.H. Two and a Half Men My Name is Earl Scrubs Married With Children It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia These are all hilarious and Scrubs and M.A.S.H. have plenty of great serious scenes.
I'd like to recommend Community on NBC, it's probably my favorite sitcom atm, I like it more than The Office. Actually, my favorite episode of TV this year thus far was the 23rd episode of Community called "Modern Warfare."
I know you listed this among the shows that you saw, but in case anyone else hasn't seen it, go check it out! Give it 4-5 episodes.
Some of my favorite sitcoms: Arrested Development Fawlty Towers South Park It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia As you already mentioned, The Office & HIMYM

Oh damn how could I forget this? Yeah Community is REALLY good.
Two and a half men is probably the best sitcom made in the last few years. "Married with children" ist pretty decent just like its ripoff "Unhappily Ever After". "Friends" is classic! I enjoyed "Still Standing" quite a bit. "Scrubs" is decent, too. "Malcolm in the middle" is ok.
Try "Arrested development" and "It's always sunny in Philadelphia". They are quite strange. Most likely you will either think that they are hilarious or just complete trash.
If you suffer from insomnia I recommend Frasier and/or Seinfeld. Those will make you fall asleep right away. I don't know a single person, who could make himslef watch more than two episodes of those...

Do yourself a favor and watch this show it really is a hidden gem.

One of my top shows lately, definitely recommend. Pierce is hilarious!
Also Big Bang Theory is my recommendation to you. Wiki
I would recommend downloading the first season of Community, its a new sitcom that airs on NBC and it basically revolves around 6-7 students at a Community College.
Chevy Chase is in it as well as the little asian guy from The Hangover. Shit's fawkin hilaaaarious.
The main character of Community is also doing some Host/MC work at E3 so he's extra cool in that department.

LOL how dare you forget the name of the greatest character ever, SENOR CHANG
if it already hasn't been mentioned a billion times; watch all 9 series of SCRUBS. the ninth season is set a bit diff and admittedly not as funny as the other seasons but still wroth the watch GREAT SERIES ~:D
I Agree with and enjoy all the shows in Your OP, After scanning the pages of this I didn't see The Cosby Show mentioned. I know it's old, and when I was little I didn't appreciate it. But I've come to love it. Perhaps it just grows on you but I would give it a try.
Arrested Development is the best comedy show ever imo. Glad to see it getting so much love in this thread
To name something that hasn't been mentioned yet at all: Party Down, pretty unusual but it's one of my favourite comedy shows for sure. Since they aren't on some big network they are free to do what they want and it's nice to hear "fuck" for once in an american show.
Archer, a spy sitcom from the creators of Frisky Dingo. It's a similar style but more accessible and funnier.
The Tick, a live-action super hero sitcom based on The Tick! Only 9 episodes long but it's worth watching.
Arrested Development, It's Always Sunny, Community and Parks & Rec are all awesome, too. I think I'm going to have to put in an anti-recommendation for Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory.
On June 17 2010 06:53 Kentor wrote: curb your enthusiasm is great, but it gradually got worse each season after like the third or fourth one. the beginning stuff was really good.
arrested development is also really good. too bad it ended short
6th season was amazing man :O (although yea 7th wasnt as strong as the others)
this thread is awfully depressing when I realize how many people like shows that I find to be complete and utter crap omg. faith in society severely weakened lol
How I met your mother. I was really skeptical about it at first because, well, the name and plot sound really lame but I watched it and it turned out to be one of the best shows I've watched. You should give that a shot.
Can't believe Red Dwarf hasn't been mentioned yet, best british sitcom (and quite possibly tv show) ever. It's about a human, humanoid evolved from a cat, a human hologram and an android stuck 3 million years into space with a computer senile AI. Episodes can be found on youtube.
Black Books, it's a british show with three seasons, not sure how easy it is to find online. Brief description thanks to the wonderful wikipedia:
Starring Moran, Bill Bailey and Tamsin Greig, it is set in the eponymous London book shop "Black Books", and follows the lives of its hostile and belligerent owner Bernard Black (Moran), his enthusiastic assistant Manny Bianco (Bailey), and their neurotic friend Fran Katzenjammer (Greig).
It's hilarious but kinda short, I'd also recommend looking up Dylan Moran and Bill Baileys stand-ups as they are both awesome comedians.

I have to agree, Trailer park boys is the funniest series I have ever seen, Its a guranteed laugh and it will keep you busy for a while. I have about 10 friends that has also seen Trailer park boys and they all loved it!
The fact that no one has mentioned Third Rock From The Sun, is epically disappointing to me. If I had to watch one sitcom for the rest of my life, on a 24 hour loop, it would be this show.
This isn't a sitcom but... Whose Line is it Anyway is great for just watching episode after episode and lolling all over the place.
Arrested Development and Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Extras and The Office (US is easier to watch) are totally amazing. They're probably not as mindless as you're after though.
Apart from that, Scrubs and Seinfeld would probably be my favourite easy lol shows.
Friends should keep you occupied for a long time.Seinfeld,Scrubs,The IT Crowd,My Name is Earl,It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia are great as well. if you're interested in comedy other than sitcom then you can always watch South Park.and if you like comedy-drama then you could try watching Castle.though i doubt if it's more funny than serious.

My friend got me on that show about a year ago. I haven't really watched it much without him, but if I'm not mistaken it comes of Fuse as well. Some channel around there on Dish Network in Milwaukee, WI.
I second the vote for 2 and a Half Men. It's not as good now that the kid is older, because he's way more annoying, but I enjoy it. I know there are haters on that show out there though.

Scrubs was incredible until about Season 7, when it started to go down hill. It sucks now, imo.
Wow, seemingly just a few actually read OP. This just became a list a sitcom thread suddenly. But I guess its just recommend for each other then. To actually answer OP and sum up some of the non-retarded responds and adding some of my own suggestions.
Sitcoms: - Two guys, a girl and a pizzaplace (Pizzagjengen) Very underrated. I believe this was Ryan Reynolds breakthrough, might be difficult to find, but it is doable. - Arrested development - My name is Earl - Scrubs ( the first seasons) - Two and a half men (Gets really old, really quick) - Family guy (Very random and animated) - American dad (Also very random and animated) - South Park - Curb my enthusiasm (not seen it myself) Not sitcoms but funny as fuck!: - Whose line is it anyway - Monty pythons flying circus - Benny hill (Not a must watch as the other two but funny nonetheless.)

It really is terrible. Used to be a big fan but I wonder if that's really just because the show has gotten so much worse or if it's also because I've gotten older and dont like that kind of humour anymore.
On June 17 2010 16:40 Warrior Madness wrote: All the great oldies have been mentioned already so I'll recommend two relatively new ones (If you can even count them as sitcoms --and an old one).
Black Adder Goes Forth Flight of the Concords Summer Heights High
Here's a non-sitcomy show that I also like: Important things with Demetri Martin
oh yeah totally forgot about Flight of the Concords, that show was great, I dont think there will be a 3rd season though
I can't believe it took until page four for someone to mention Malcolm in the Middle. I'm not a big TV/sitcom watcher, but I absolutely loved that show. Recommended for sure.

Malcolm in the Middle was very good when it started. But then went on a downward spiral as each season went on and became pure crap towards the end.
It's not new, but if you enjoyed the American office, you might enjoy the British one too. Also, futurama is in my mind one of the most entertaining shows ever made.
Also, gotta agree with It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Definitely a funny show.
- my name is earl - how i met your mother - two and a half men - Big bang theory
those are pretty much the only sitcoms i liked. especially "MY NAME IS EARL", just because it is not in this weird sitcom style with this annoying laughter all the time. and most of the scenes are shot outside, so theres not this fucked up "2 rooms 4 people go" principle
I recently finished the first season of Modern Family in like two days. It's soooooo good! I think it's a must for sitcom lovers. I am hoping for more.
Seinfeld is a must and then you can transition into Curb Your Enthusiasm...starring Larry David..the co-creator of Seinfeld.
also Arrested Development is my favorite sitcom of all time...its sad that it only lasted 3 seasons Always Sunny in Philadelphia is definitely up there on my list as well
Married ... with Children M.A.S.H Fresh Prince of Bel´air Spin City Black Books Yes, Minister (Yes, Prime Minister) Red Dwarf These are the first ones to come on my mind. If you dont like british humour, skip last three
When it comes to sitcoms nothing holds up to It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Arrested Development.
It's Always Sunny seems to be really hit or miss though. From personal experience most people either hail it as the funniest show ever or just get a headache from it. The same may be somewhat true for Arrested development too actually, for that one I guess its just too dense for some people to get into (as in layers upon layers of recurring jokes and references and confusing plots).
Not sure if it's already mentioned, but Coupling (the british version) is one of the better comedy shows ever made. Last season sucked, but the first three are pure gold.
News Radio is also exceptionally good altough pretty much not known by the general public. Really a shame.
I would also avoid Big Bang Theory at any cost. It's cliche-ridden, predictable and just overall lame as shit
"Seinfeld" is great. Period. "How I Met your Mother" is a degenerate version of "Friends" so watch the latter. Actually HIMYM pretty much blows compares to Friends. "Everybody Loves Raymond" is a good ol' family one that beats out modern sitcoms within the same genre imo. "Big Bang Theory" is alright, but it wouldn't be anything without Sheldon. "Two and a half men" and "King of Queens" are okay...but more of watch while you do something else kind of show. "The Office" is decent if you watch one every week. Not something I'd enjoy watching in consecutive episodes. Fucking hated Scrubs and 30 Rock. But that's me.
Scrubs Big Bang Theory The Office Weeds Californication House (not really a comedy, but really good) Hung Modern Family
also "classics" Seinfeld Friends Married with Children
Edit: (Shows I just don't like): 30 Rock My Name is Earl
Edit #2: Everyone has suggested to watch Arrested Development so I brought up netflix and started watching the first season...wow...I've been missing out :D
after I believe hot_bid recommended it I started watching Community, finished the whole season. While there's definitely some negative things about it, some things too predictable, and it has some cheesy moral at the end of the episode way too often I enjoyed it a lot, so thx for that recommendation. The paintball episode was like one of the most epic things ever.
Also watched about 8 modern family episodes, seems to be decent.
Also decided to watch Curb Your Enthusiasm... liked the first episode a lot but the way he talks and the situations started getting old really really fast imo. The way he talks reminds me too much of Seinfeld, and I find it annoying how he always gets into sticky situations because of saying something "wrong" to some hypersensitive douchebag/bitch I dont know, guess it's just not my cup of tea
Seinfeld and Two and a Half Men are my favorite sitcoms.
Arrested Development and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia are getting close. I haven't finished AD, and I'm not caught up with It's Always Sunny, so we'll see.

It's because Jeff left obviously. It's made it harder to watch normal run-of-the-mill sitcoms now The season-ender episodes are always made of gold.
