UK has higher luxury tax than US.

answer, everything is cheaper in the united states. As bad as we americans think tax is, we have low taxes compared to the EU and we also aren't nearly as socialist. Also, prices are never about their value, prices are valued at whatever people are willing to pay for them.

my advice, dont get a monitor from dell just order one from a site like newegg or tigerdirect, they have better quality moniters and cheaper prices too. And the best thing is you can read the customer reviews there, so if there's a faulty monitor you will find it, unlike dell where there's no customer reviews.

Newegg doesn't ship internationally. Don't know what you mean by a faulty monitor but Dell does have a return policy. There's also independent sites you can look at for reviews, like tomshardware.com You never know who is writing the reviews on sites like newegg and amazon.

i believe UK or many EU countries have higher taxes and regulations than US which caused its products to be sold at a higher price. otherwise those products are the same since alot of it are "Made in China"

Things manufactured in China have higher duties when exported to some European countries. Thus you pay more.

I believe our minimum wage etc is higher too, most of us are paid more and prices reflect that.

haha having a higher minimum wage doesn't help if you have no jobs and everything costs more.
|
It's because the Americans kicked the British out during the Revolution and once again in the fail campaign of 1812 and they are still bitter, but honestly I don't know.
|
still maintain america is like the cheapest place in the world for electronics. its awesome.

It might be due to trade laws? Tariffs, quotas, etc. might be more restrictive in the UK than the US

So in other words your buying power is the same.
Also check game releases Europe tends to get things last
Taxes and shipping are different in Tech products it's 1 to 1 from USD to Euro. Remember just about everything was made in Taiwan or Malaysia or China and shipped either directly or to someone's else's factory to be assembled then shipped over to you.
Say you have a graphic card A in the US sold at MSRP of 400 USD it will be just about 400 Euro over there it's just how it goes.

It's called the VAT tax. That's why everything in Europe/UK costs more than in the US.

Don't feel bad. Made in China is more expensive in China than USA go figure...
