Race is not involved. My only point... People scream "racist" too often these days. Sometimes they do this because if you argue against what some call "racist," it is very difficult to not look like you are in the wrong. Pretty sure that is still racism dude

I wasn't presenting any argument in that post, I was basically condensing your load of vapid emotional rhetoric and rampant generalizations to expose the massive hypocrisy. If you want a real response, here: I agree with you that blind nationalism is dangerous, made all the more dangerous by the fact that people that realize nationalism is dangerous, such as yourself, continue to be nationalist for some inane reason. This silly economic-political dick-waving of which country is "#1" is self-destructive and stupid and caring about whether your country is the best or not is the sign of a stunted maturity and childish intellect. We live in a globalized economy and as long as everyone's doing well, why the fuck should it matter that some country has a slightly higher purchasing power than yours? I also agree that it's not definitively racist to spread propaganda - although in the case of this specific ad, its racism is certainly debatable - it's just stupid and childish. If your goal is to rally support from your country, why is it necessary to paint another country as an enemy? Is it impossible to make a point anymore without also marking a target for your audience to hate? This ad wanted to make the point that stimulus spending and Obamacare will crush the US's economy. That's fine, it's not even like that's an unpopular opinion to have. They could have easily accomplished that with some graphs or statistics or some actual analysis and projections. Instead they threw together this highly caricatured vision of Chinese people and painted them as some kind of future boogeyman. That would be offensive if it wasn't so hilarious. If it only came down to an arbitrary ranking of 1st and 2nd strongest, then nothing would matter. But in a future where China truly eclipsed America and started to flex its muscle as the DOMINANT world power, many people find that frightening given China's view on individual freedoms. Think of how China has dealt with the Uyghurs in Xinjiang or the Tibetans. People are still dying but no one is hearing about it. A colleague of mine had two girls as students. They were both in their second year of college. They were caught making pamphlets for the Falun Gong (a religious group that China discriminates against). They came crying to my friend for help. He told them to calm down and nothing was going to happen. The next day they both DISAPPEARED. This is not some "patriot act" thing where they were deemed terrorists and they are held in some prison where the next president to come along will pardon them. This is an off the record murder. If China makes a push toward more human rights then all is well, but until then I will fear a future where they are the strongest nation in the world.

+ Show Spoiler + Unfortunately, the ad wasn't really mistranslated. It's too bad, because I think this version is far more accurate.

Seriously though, I would say this ad is more xenophobic than racist. Its targeting a nation rather than people of Chinese descent. That isnt to say racism wont come from it though. People who buy into this ad will further develop distaste for people who look Chinese, even if theyre Americans.

I dont even think they painted an evil picture on the chinese in this video, to me the Chinese here looked smart and professional, nothing that scared me. Only scary moment they tried to convey was the fact US works for them now, cause of debt. I dont see anything wrong with this. So the country need to wake up and be more aware of its spending.

Unless you guys start buyihng more stuff that is labelled 'Made in USA' then the outcome of this video isn't all that far fetched. Don't tell me you can't afford to spend an extra 5 bucks on an American made shirt over a slave labor one whilst you're sitting there with your $500 Chinese made iPad either. Think about this , to produce missiles you need rare earth magnets. These haven't actually been produced in the USA for 6-7 years. The US doesn't even mine rare earths anymore , it's all done in China. Now China cuts exports of rare earths by 30% and everyone is scrambling to start up these rare earth mines again but it will be at least 18 months before they're pumping rare earths out and maybe even longer before the machinery to produce the magnets in a US factory is available. China is even producing parts for the Boeing dreamliner now, people living in this dreamworld that first world countries can lead the world in 'advanced manufacturing' - it's all bullshit.China is catching up or has overtaken in every industry and without industry a country is just a shell waiting to go bankrupt (some very small economies excepted). You undermined your economy by outsourcing the industry , thats why your trade deficit is 800billion+ per year.Doesn't take Einstein to figure out that ain't sustainable. Here you guys go - US made cotton shirts for under $5. http://www.theunionshop.org/Clearance/2754.htm Great deals on other stuff as well. Why have fair trade coffee but not fair trade manufactured goods - fair pay for a good days work. Buy some non slave labour stuff and pat yourself on the back.

I'm not an expert on cinematography (or whatever it is called) but it has a lot of resemblance with the videoclip where everyone is watching a screen and some chick in bright clothes throws a hammer through it, so the association they want you to make isn't good. Needless to say this is a rather stupid propaganda attempt. Technically, the Chinese work for the rest of the world at the moment :D

"Made in America" doesn't necessarily mean made in the United States. If the product was made outside of the country and shipped to the US, where it got the finishing touches, then it can be considered a product "Made in America". There are so few goods that are actually completely made withing the United States that it's laughable. The fact of the matter is that the US doesn't have a manufacturing base anymore. Pretty much everything Americans buy is made completely or in part by other nations. Blame it on unions, blame it companies abusing sweatshop labor, whatever.
