I doubt anyone will disagree that its blatant scaremongering. agreed, terrible propaganda (I don't really think it's racist btw. man people just love to cry racism at everything, it's amazing)

I feel uncomfortable walking passed a man on the street at night and he is carrying a big axe. He is legally entitled to do that, and I am unfairly jumping to the conclusion that he is an axe murderer, but that's not racist... Now replace the street with a plane and the axe with a turban. Still an unfair jump to a conclusion, but still not an example of racism

The video wasn't HATING Chinese people, rather implying that because of the deplorable amount of money our stupid, pathetic government spends, China will own us. The bad guy here is the COMMUNIST Chinese government and the moronic American government which spends to oblivion and back. Shut the fuck up about racism, darn it! Shut the fuck up! Racism is when blacks were forced to sit in the backs of buses, forced to drink from "colored" waterfountains and eat at "colored" restaurants. Racism is when the Irish came over here and were treated like trash. That's fucking racism. Get it straight, dammit for God's sake! This cry of racism every time someone says something that you don't fucking like is disgusting. Like when Juan Williams (who is black, liberal, and a civil rights activist) was fired from NPR because he said he feels uncomfortable near someone wearing Muslim garb on a plane! Someone says something you dislike and you cry out "racism". Since when did you get monopoly over what the term racism meant? Get off your high horse. Racism can mean many different things to many different people. This ad most definitely has racial tones to it. The fact that the everyone in the ad is Chinese and thus wholly different from Americans is supposed to frighten people. It implies that by 2030, Americans will, for all intents and purposes, be enslaved by a completely foreign people. The race portrayed in this ad doesn't matter, because it could just as well be Nigerians talking and it would have the same effect (if Nigeria actually owned a significant portion of the US national debt), so long as it didn't use a group of White, English-speaking people. What is concerning is the complete insensitivity of using a race as a political tool to scare Americans. Is that racist? To some, absolutely.

About the racism part: This is scaremongering to a certain extent but it's also the truth, America owes China trillions of dollars. It's an issue that must be dealt with and if not; then America may be facing grave economic consequences in the future. Neither party wants to address this issue, they say things like ,,The economy is becoming better....," yes, my bank account would also be better if China would loan me $1 billion dollars each day, rofl. Americans, you might want to start learning Chinese to greet your new overlords when they arrive. "But many at the Pentagon are starting to realize that, thanks to our growing fiscal irresponsibility, we may be surrendering control of America's destiny to a rival superpower -- and all without a shot being fired." Not something that everyone should feel too. Its kind of like if a cougar mauled someone right in front of you. Not every cougar would do this, but you would still be scared when you saw one. Its a natural human response.

europe rapidly advanced since the greeks, because they had neighboring countries to compete against and a threat of war. china didn't have the luxury of having nearby competition (they were isolated by mountains) except mb the mongols who weren't much of a threat; so they never felt any pressure to progress until the past 2 centuries. tbh, it was inevitable that china would become a world power once they were exposed to westernization.

While I agree the commercial was racist and had racial undertones, they couldn't have used a different race. They are talking about America failing because of its very real, enormous debt to China. If they then showed a bunch of Nigerians, everyone would be like wtf?

Wait, there was personal pride? That's news to me. I've reached the point where I just tune out political ads or change the channel. I know what my beliefs are and no ridiculous commercial is going to change my mind.
