No this shouldn't be censored , I also condone books like: "How-to-rape" , "A dummies guide to murder" , "How to sexually abuse your children and not get caught" , "Racial crimes , beacuse they're not people" and many more that helps encourage and enable criminal and moraly degenerative behavior ranging from petty theft to tripple homicide !
PS: If you didn't notice I'm being sarcastic , of course the fucking book should be censored , it encourages pedophilia wich is a crime and destroys lifes o-O
EDIT: I bet most of the people buying the books are catholic preists , OH SNAP :p

The ancient Athenians are turning in their graves. Why would any sane individual hide pedophilia? How else can the young male enter into adulthood!!!!
On a more serious note, wtf....

Looks fine to me, if you find it offensive dont read it. Free speech is free speech. It's not "Free speech unless someting is deemed too offensive." Not how it works.
Plus knowing techniques and ways they use can be an informed way to prevent such things. Just like the book "Art of Deception" does with security.

I wasn't making the comparison to this "how to rape kids" book. I was responding to a previous post, not the OP.

OT: I personally don't believe it should be censored, it's a book, if you don't like it's message then don't read it. Date Rape is a crime as well but there are plenty of books out there about it. As well as murder, look to Dexter and any mystery novel. Look to forensics books, they all teach you how to not get caught, so this book does the same with a different crime. If you censor it, it will just go down a good ole book burning path and set us back 100s of years culturally.

Could just be some dude looking to make some quick cash. You have to buy a product on amazon in order to write a review for it. Everyone who wrote one star reviews paid for the book.

Dexter is fiction bro. That's like saying lord of the rings is an instructional guide on, and condoning, warfare.

in logic this is called a shitty fallacious slippery slope argument. "ban pedophilia instruction?? what next Hemingway?!"

This is a good point, another thing to consider about revealing information like this is that the light that it's put in is mostly irrelevant.
Take for example that law & order show that exclusively deals with rape and pedophile cases, they generally don't put the offenders in a good light however they thoroughly explore ways that people get away with the crimes, which reveals just as much potentially abuseable information. Should this show similarly be censored? I'm highly offended by that show but I still don't call for censorship.

free speach ftw
let this book get published, let people buy it, and track every one of those kiddie loving motherfuckers and take them to jail
|
This is pretty obvious, but peeps should note that there's a pretty significant difference between amazon (a retailer) censoring something and state censorship. I personally have a problem with the latter, but not the former.
|
The psychological interpretation of the slippery slope argument would be that if we censor books like this it would open to discussion the possibility of censoring other books, like ones criticizing our government for example. So no, I'm not in favor of censoring this and good job Amazon for not caving in.

<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 Amazon for not censoring this.
EDIT: Because of what the poster above me wrote, not because I want to buy the book

This person certainly has a right to put down his thoughts, but I'm pretty sure nobody has a "right" to have their books sold by Amazon. They're just a vendor, why do they feel an obligation to uphold a principle of free speech here?
|
People should be allowed to buy it, and to do so in anonymity. It is a book, just words. People who make a ruckus over this should find better uses for their time. It is just knowledge, and people who are looking for it can find it anyways. Pedophiles are not the only ones who can use this knowledge.

I don't understand how Amazon can defend a book that promotes illegal acts and how to avoid getting caught for performing them
I don't think it would... And it certainly shouldn't be.

Haha well limits on free speech usually revolve around inciting violence which i don't think this does, all this does is makes a company to loose money printing an unpopular book.
|
I don't see why this should be censored. Are books that describe maintenance of firearms and how to properly use said firearms censored too? Or how about books on how to use social engineering to steal identities? No, education in any form should never ever be censored.

The terrible analogies in this thread disheartens me.
You do not distinguish between firearm maintenance and child rape?

Dang this is a pretty good idea. You just make an extremely controversial book and all the attention and debate it gets will be free advertisement.
