Living in Boston isnt so bad, but occasionally I am reminded that my country is run by a secret republican, half the states are theocracies and I have had to take on 60 grand in student loans just to do 4 years of undergrad and 1 year of graduate school because my government literally does not value my education, health or well being. If you actually believe this, I'd genuinely like to know what school you went to. As a Bostonian who went to school in another region of the US and has travelled in some of the world's actual "theocracies," I wish you wouldn't make us look like ill-informed, delusional, freshman ethnic studies students. He doesn't have too, Glenn Beck's doing it well enough already ;D

And people saying Norway or sweden, you got to understand how extremely crap these countries are. Norway a little worse then Sweden, but its basically the same shit. Norway has so many laws, and you cant do shit here. Police in Norway is a joke, nobody in their right mind have respect for them, and its cause they have to uphold stupid laws like 4000dollar fine if you are caught with a whore. Simple stupid shit like that. You think Norway has awesome nature and rivers ? Lolol, we rape our rivers, and our Fjord is raped by cruiseships dumping their waste in it. And since we have raped all the rivers, the Fjord cant clean it self, it just stays there. The crabs in our Fjord, have green legs lol, like a freaking baneling cause of all the toxic waste is being pumped in it from ships. Norwegians are the most cold hearted solitary humans I have ever witnessed, we can only competently be social when we are extremely drunk. At busses, we sit as far away from people as possible. Also we dont care about our parents, family life in Norway is actually looked down upon, its the age of single mother and single people now.. To bad you cant and wont get a loan to buy a place if you are single. Our social system is a nightmare, its like they picked retards for the job, who has no clue. Oh, our social system and healtcare (which is in the newspaper often for its incompetence) only costs about 50%+ effective tax.
Welcome to Norway.. Cant wait till Im economically fit to get out of this shithole.
Let me guess, your either incredibly narrowminded and ill-informed on how things actually are in Norway. Do you think its a coincidence that every year Norway is on top of the list of "best countries to live in" I have read a few of your posts in this thread, and they just keep getting dumber and dumber. How you can with a straight face claim that our social system is a nightmare, unless your on disability because you dont care enough to actually work. Do you think that giving loans that you dont have the security/ability to pay is good? Really? I cant wait till your economically fit to get your ass somewhere else. Too bad im probably paying that with my tax money. 10 bucks says your registered on dagbladet.no and is a frequent poster there. You live in the best country in the world, and you still whine like a 5 year old girl who didnt get candy.
So you just made up assumptions about me, trying to hit me low. Instead of betting who I am, you could simply ask. I dont read news paper for several reasons I dont think this thread needs. You see, I dont get my information from some stupid list of how great this country is. Do you even know the criteria for that list? I could make a similar list stating this is the worst country, but that would not paint the truth any clearer either. Instead of reading the newspaper and similiar junk media, I simply observe, yes, you can do that too, and make up your own mind about how things are around you. I see that the police dont give a rats ass in the streeth when it comes to real crime, they would rather tail a normal white guy for paying a whore. You dont really feel safe in Oslo's streeths anymore. I have seen and experienced this, not read it! Your argument just states that I am dumb, and that I am a 5 year old whiny girl. The system I am critisizing is also from experience, I have seen it, heard peoples stories (irl, not from a newspaper).
This thread was about to inform other people about your country, painting a fairy tale is not gonna help people know how the country really is. I told them how the nature in our renowned Fjord really is that Google pictures wont show you. I told them some of my own experiences with Norwegian people and the social system is, how people more and more tends to flag out to get medical help if they are to be treated fair and quick. This is, if you are thinking about actually living in Norway, because I am sure Norway is a great place to be a tourist in, if you can afford it and dont mind the price. If you want to relocate to another country, it is cause you are seeking to be more happy, not to be super duper safe, I can take care of my got damn loan thank you very much, dont need to be taxed 50% cause I am too dumb and short sighted in my spending. So take that list of yours and ask why that list should be true, what it actually says. Cause there are lists where some of the "shitiest" countries like Nigeria is said to have the most happy people.
And please instead of telling how dumb I am, how 5 year old whining bitch I am, instead just contribute what is great about Norway. It seems I hit a nerve or something.
|
you dident hit a nerve anywhere, your just one of those people that will never be happy im sure you sit home with your batchlor degree, in a appartment, with a car, and whine about how bad life is, in Norway, you will allways be safe, we got good health care, we got great nature, but its expensive here, thats why we got sweden next to us anyways, you have said your bad points now, not anypoint on keep draggign Norway down because of your experience, for the rest of us seems to like it

I am somewhat happy in Sweden actually, sure it aint perfect but every other country has the same problems but kinda worse
I have seriously considered moving to Norway tho. So might say that. Finland if they had a bit better eco, Denmark if not for the language.
Canada if they had decent Internet, same with Australia. USA if i had a great job, otherwise no. Netherlands sounds kinda fun but they have some politic views that just crash with mine.
Japan if i could handle the language, but i think Japan is kinda idolized, from the persons i have talked to who lived in Japan as foriegners its no great hit.

British Columbia, Canada. Snowboarding and epic mountainbiking. Yes please. However if I was there I would be unemployed.

The United States. I think my values just fit there best. Also quality of life is awesome there.

I always wanted to live in china but after living here for half a year now (and already lived here before for 1 year) I've somewhat lost interest, it's a great country to live in while you are young (say <40) and 'have money' (not extremely much but enough for a good apartment/convenient etc). If I wouldn't be able to have both I wouldn't like it here all that much. I'm a Dutch native and after being in China for quite a while the Netherlands just look better and better. I'd love to try out the US (might even happen) to see how living is over there but I think I'd be happiest living in Singapore or Hong Kong (at least if I can make a decent living there). I love city life and thus big cities really attract me. I've visited both and the enviroment I really what i'm looking for. I love the weather, warm/hot and humid. People are great, both are (relatively) clean and it's in Asia, so no shit with huge time difference to Korea :-).

Unfortunately, Danish is the only language I've ever encountered that I have been physically incapable of producing the correct sounds. My mouth literally can't form the appropriate shapes.
This made me laugh so hard :D But it's true. Our crownprincess is from Tazmania (which is Australian, right?) But we have this "test" just to show if you know proper danish. Try to pronounce: Rød grød med fløde.
It's reeeeeally easy and simple for us. But for w/e reason ppl (not danish) can't ><

Well, since I live in the USA besides that I would probably say France or South Korea.

My danish teacher always said, to pronounce danish properly you have to speak like you have a hot potato in your mouth. I live 5km south of the danish border, when i go to the beach i can see denmark even with bad weather and we have tons of danish tourists every weekend, so it's quite normal to take danish as second foreign language.
I think the hardest part about your "test" is to know that the Ds are actually pronounced more like Ls.
On Topic: I like germany and i probably stay here. Moved around enough in my life and want to stay in a place for a while. Northern germany is actually quite fine, nice people, close to the water, people don't freak out when there is a little wind (people in munich did freak out once when i lived there, everyone stayed indoors and shops closed because "omg, storm!" while my ex and i walked around wondering what the hell everyone was so scared about), too bad the work situation in this town is so bad for programmers.

Im sorta sympathetic with this. Yes, the cost of living is rather high, and our beuracracy is rather incompetent at times. But I do believe you are doing the same thing as people who focus only on the good things; instead you focus on only the bad things. It is with Norway as it is with every other country, there are good things and there are bad things. Its about weighing the positive with the negative and drawing your own conclusion from that. I do not share the same experiences as you do, but that does not make you wrong, only one-sided. But honestly, do you think that our social services are that terrible? free hospitals, welfare and all that jazz?
For myself though, I grew up in - and still Live in a rural area. Quite a distance from any town with more than 50k people in it. I like to call it the Alabama of Norway. Farms, tractors and bad Moonshine. Our house is surrounded by big fields where some local tractormonkey grows wheat, and during the early Summer months, he fertilizes them. With cow faeces. It gets so bad, you Really cant have your windows open. But you know what? I wouldnt leave if you gave me Money.
But if I had to choose, I want to Live in Canada. Similar weather, and generally nice people. Germany isent bad too, beer, pretty ladies, good cars and the biggest producer of industrial automation.

I'd say Sweden if it weren't for the cold. Maybe migrate in winter
Anywhere along the mediterranean looks amazing

If one was to step back and think of everything possible I believe they would probably choose California as the "country" they would want to live in. Yes, I know it isn't a country, but it is as large as many countries and in good times in the USA has the GDP to rival other countries.
No matter where you go everyone hates their own government, so lets leave that out. Job opportunities are unlimited full range. Things you can do snow or sun or water. Sports - a bit lacking in football (in my opinion), but good for baseball soccer basketball and hockey? Cost of living - a bit overprices, but that can be avoided. Crime - If you choose to live in the shittiest area of any state or country you must deal with it, but most places are quite decent.
My opinion is based on actively you can do any physical activity there and the state's population is so high that most jobs are there. At the moment yes, the US is a bit fucked, but eventually California would probably be the place to live if you wanted the best of all worlds.
|
I'd prefer to stay in Canada, nothing beats wide open spaces, sparse population, good programs, friendly people, vast expanses of nothing but nature. The only downside is the extreme temperatures in the winter.
If I had to move though it would be to the UK so I can watch all of the live EPL I could. Or any Western European country would be great.
