DAT SKY GUITAR *drool* Have you had the pleasure? For anyone who doesn't know: that's Uli Jon Roth's (early Scorpions) signature model.

Nah, I was just reminded by all dem scallops. I think Sky was the first guitar I actually heard of with a scalloped fretboard. He played with the Smashing Pumpkins at a festival a while ago, that was a cool thing to run into on Youtube.

If the current Squier HSS model is set up the way I imagine it is, then it's got the three pickups, three knobs and a five way switch, right? Guitars do get more complicated than that, but they also get much more basic. There are guitars with one pickup, one knob for volume, etc. With the kind of setup you have, you should be able to get a bunch of different sounds. Anyway, have fun! Guess I meant basic as in cheap For the people saying it isn't a very good guitar, ofcourse not, but for a guy who can only play 4 chords it's a fun thing to play on. I really didn't wanna blow 500 euro's on a guitar without really knowing if it was good or not. For a beginner it's hard to hear/tell the diffrence, atleast for me it is The way i got to buying this one is simple , I went to the store, had a look at some guitars around 100-200 euro's , asked if i could play them and their amps and choose the one that sounded/played nicest

First thing I realized is that they didn't really have much in the way of low wattage tube amps and that I should have called. I asked and the clerk told me that they used to have some, but now they don't seem to. So I asked about the new Fender Pawn Shop series amps, and he hadn't heard of them, but after hearing my description concluded that they probably wouldn't order any because they would be hard to sell. After that I decided to play around with the amps they did have. There was a decent selection of heads and 2x12 sized stuff. But all the amps are wired up in the middle of the store, so if you want to play them you have to play them at low volume, which won't tell you that much about a tube amp (or a cab). I had the (ok, low-ish watt) Marshall Class 5 volume knob at about 1.5 and they asked me to turn it down. But on the plus side I discovered that there's a Pacifica model out now with a P-90 in the neck and a split coil humbucker in the bridge, which is a pretty cool configuration for an inexpensive guitar. Didn't have a chance to try it out but I might have to.

It's useless trying to bargain with people though. I never respond to an ad unless the asking price is already what I'm willing to pay. I remember one guy was trying to sell a pedal for more than the store price, so I told him I'd pay a bit less than the store price if he didn't get a better offer, and he sent me a pissy reply.

You never really know what you're getting so you need to inspect pretty carefully and not be afraid to pass on something after trying it out. It's useless trying to bargain with people though. On top of that I live in Canada so people think inflated prices are acceptable which is bs. I mostly use online guitar forum classifieds for buying now unless of course a good deal pops up on kijiji.

My Rig Guitar: Dean MAB2 Aviator (autographed lol, if anyone wants to buy hehe) with MAB Hands Without Shadows Neck Pickup Dean DMT SCVH Middle Pickup Dean DMT Baker Act Bridge Pickup Amp: Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Amp Cab: Mesa Traditional/Stiletto 4x12 Cabinet Current Pedal Chain: Boss CS-3 Compression/Sustain > Boss ML-2 Metal Core > Boss GE-7 Equalizer (HEAVY midrange scoop) > Jim Dunlop Crybaby Wah > Boss RV-7 Reverb > MXR Carbon Copy Delay. (I never use a tuner in my chain, because I just prefer to keep a chromatic tuner clipped onto the head of the guitar, tune up with a Korg chromatic plugin beforehand, and have a Floyd Rose system and don't abuse the whammy so not too worried about that). What I'm looking for is a good, shimmery chorus effect with at least 2 voices but nothing overboard, nothing TOO subtle, to stick either after my EQ or after my Wah. Currently on my clean intros, I turn off everything but Compression, Delay, and SOMETIMES Reverb (albeit on a different setting) but would really like to be able to have a nice chorus with a good sounding voice but nothing TOO glitzy, something you might hear on a Tool album or something. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
