Are those things actually good amps? I've seen them before and I have no idea what to think about them lol.

I have a Vox multi-effect amp thing that's like 5 watts so it's fine for practice but obviously I need something a bit louder. I usually play post-punk, indie-rock sort of music. I'd say something around 15-40ish watts should do the trick. If you have the budget, definitely go tube over solid state. Depending on what sounds you prefer, you may want to go for a cleaner sounding amp like Vox or Fender, or something with more gain like Marshall. I've done a couple of gigs with an AC4 i borrowed but it was really small, and it definitely wasn't the best situation possible

Vox AC15 and AC30 both sound great! I tried a solid state Blackstar. I liked it, but I really prefer the tube amp sound. I should try another Blackstar made with tubes. I listened to the Mesa/Boogie Transatlantic. Damn, it sounded great. It's out of my price range though unfortunately. I didn't like any of the Fenders or Marshall's I tried.

Keep in mind that usually, with a tube amp, you need less wattage than with a solid state to achieve the same sound level.

That said, used (or older) Gibsons have very very reasonable price. There's some that are meh, but as with other instruments if you just play a few you'll find one that suits you. Gratz on your new guitar, black LP's are awesome Needs gold haldware though!

Yeah I notice a price jump in the 2015 models. I actually got my 2013 brand new . EDIT: Also EMGs are sucky . They where really good for rhythm because they were super consistent, but no matter how I struck the pick it all sounded the same. Super disappointed. That was one of the main reasons for the Gibby orve r the LTD EC1000. Also I didn't like the Thinner body. The JH isn't as bad. But, the passives felt natural. Basically I am no longer an EMG fanboy

Forcing the G-Force system on (most of) their 2015 lineup instead of proposing it as an option is also very meh.

It's too bad because most of the guitars in the range are awesome, especially (imo) the Junior or the LP Deluxe (fuck yeah Thin Lizzy!). They just have idiotic features and ridicolous prices.

Yea the wide necks are silly on the 2015. And the whole jacking prices up and adding crap features is stupid. Their charging 2k for a bare bones Explorer

The prices are still excessive, but they are actually good guitars, and it's basically Custom Shop quality stuff from what i heard. Also it's hilarious how they keep releasing "limited edition" models without the idiotic features. I wonder what happened in the last couple of months >.>

Overall not very impressed with Gibson's newer guitars. Overpriced and have mostly gimmicks. At this point I see no reason not to get a higher end Epiphone. Cheaper and without retarded features.
