On a completely unrelated note, the harmonic scale is awesome

I usually play 'fingerstyle' arrangements that I can't really learn by heart... So I guess my question is, how do you emancipate yourself from tabs and play from memory or 'from the heart'? For me it helps immensely to not just print out the tabs but to write them down myself in a notebook. I memorize the song structure and the picking patterns much quicker if I do that. Also it helps me to keep them organized and thus reduces the hassle to bring them along because they are just all in that notebook. Since we are at the topic of practicing alternate picking and such. So far I have hardly been using a pick since I really enjoy picking with my fingers and I feel like the songs I want to be playing next are mostly songs that use fingerpicking. However I also have been practicing the pentatonic scale just using my thumb for every string. So I guess my question is how should I be practicing scales as a fingerpicking player and would you advise me to also get comfortable with a pick?

Nice, I still prefer my old boss ds1, probably for nostalgic reasons though. =]

Is the micro amp a boost pedal? Yep i use that as a boost for leads or whatever, and a little drive from the amp+the overdrive pedal for my main rythm sound Also the DS1 is cool too but i didn't need that much gain, so i just got an overdrive pedal instead. Now all i need is a delay.

(also it might not be that useful to you since it also has chorus which you have now.)

When I hammer on anything past the 5th fret from open string, I think it's plays another note as well as the hammer on note The second "note" seems to be pretty high starting like 5th fret, then decreases in pitch until 12th fret, then start get higher in pitch for the E B G D string Then it's the exact opposite for the low A and E string... for some reason I am assuming this isn't supposed to happen... Not sure if it is a recent problem or I never noticed If I hammer on from a fretted string, it's fine, but from open string it does this

At any rate, that's completely normal, of course if you're hammering down, both halves of the string are going to reverberate. You won't hear the lower half of it, because its sound won't reach the pickups.

That piece of wood there is a piece of a chair that kinda broke off so i just stuck some velcro on top of it and added rubber thingies at the bottom to keep it in place. Also whoever at MXR decided it would be smart to put the power plug on the side of the pedal is a goddamn moron.
